Bug#549265: Re: Bug#549265: pidgin-libnotify: 549265: conflicts

[...] As I see this: 1/ notify-osd package in Debian doesn't replace the default notification-system yet, so IMO, conflicts is not required. 2/ The ubuntu's patched version of pidgin-libnotify for notify-osd, uses libindicate [1] which is not yet packaged in Debian. So there is no easy way to pull in changes from Ubuntu. TODO: Try to migrate libindicate to Debian (any help in this regard will be appreciated), and then may be enable notify-osd support in pidgin-libnotify. -Varun [1]: https://launchpad.net/libindicate -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Hi there, I want to add something to the "conflict"-discussion. Why don't you just make a patched version of pidgin-libnotify which will be renamed to e.g. pidgin-libnotify-osd. This pidgin-libnotify-osd will then require notify-osd and conflicts with pidgin-libnotify. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the notify-osd package in Debian doesn't replace the default notification-daemon yet, unless done manually. So I don't think a conflict is necessary here. That is correct. My reasoning was that the notify-osd breaks pidgin-libnotify, so they should not be installed at the same time. -- bye, pabs http://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part
