Bug#559023: /usr/lib/pm-utils/bin/pm-action: pm-hibernate: reboot instead of poweroff
Package: pm-utils Version: 1.2.6.1-1 Severity: normal File: /usr/lib/pm-utils/bin/pm-action Hi, thanks for your work so far, my netbook (sony vaio vgn-p11z) suspended and hibernated out of the box ;) but, there is a minor issue, when hibernating with pm-hibernate, it does not turn off, but just reboots. i could now put a poweroff entry into grub, but i dont think this would be a nice solution. what information do you need, to help me fix my problem? greatings arne -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing'), (800, 'unstable'), (700, 'stable'), (600, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-2-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages pm-utils depends on: ii console-tools 1:0.2.3dbs-66 Linux console and font utilities ii powermgmt-base 1.30+nmu1 Common utils and configs for power Versions of packages pm-utils recommends: ii hal 0.5.13-4 Hardware Abstraction Layer ii radeontool1.5-5 utility to control ATI Radeon back ii vbetool 1.1-2 run real-mode video BIOS code to a Versions of packages pm-utils suggests: ii cpufrequtils 005-1 utilities to deal with the cpufreq ii uswsusp 0.8-1.1+b1 tools to use userspace software su -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. That's most likely a uswsusp bug. Could you run echo SLEEP_MODULE=kernel /etc/pm/conf.d/backend and then try again. See also the pm-suspend (8) man page. If it still reboots, please run PM_DEBUG=true pm-hibernate and attach the log file /var/log/pm-suspend.log Michael -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth? signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

One thing I noticed is, that you have laptop-mode-tools installed. Maybe it is interfering in a bad way. It would be worth trying to remove that package. What pm-utils does, with the kernel sleep backend, is to run echo disk /sys/power/state so you can try and test if that also reboots your computer. Could you also send me the output of cat /sys/power/disk It should be set to platform. If not, it might worth trying to use the different supported mechanisms, like shutdown or platform.
