Bug#632185: igb: missing support for Intel 82576 ET2 Quad Port (8086:a06c)

2011-09-03 Thread Dmitry Nedospasov
Any news on this? I would love to help test if that will help. We just
got a couple of these cards.

http://people.debian.org/~benh/packages/ has candidate packages.

Cheers,

Is there any way to confirm that these packages include the igb module
with ET2 support (other than installing it)?

Thanks,

Dmitry

Read the changelog.

You can find the changelog in any of the packages, or more easily here:
http://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/kernel/dists/squeeze/linux-2.6/debian/changelog?revision=18037view=markup

(The answer is: yes.)

2011-06-30 Thread Oluf Lorenzen
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.32-35
Severity: important

I am trying to get an Intel quad-port-NIC to work, but the igb-driver does not
recognize the card if I load it manually.

Running the kernel from backports (linux-image-2.6.38-bpo.2-amd64) does fix
this problem, but breaks support for drbd (drbd8-utils is 8.3.7-2.1, but the
drbd-module is v8.3.9) - so this is not an option.

I did ask people to test a backported igb driver (among others), but
no-one did. We'll have another version available for testing soon in
stable-proposed-updates.

So a sub-minor version change can include incompatible changes? Wow.
Well, drbd-utils 8.3.9 is in testing and unstable now.

Ben.
