Have you tried older kernels, 2.6.32 from stable?

Have you tried older versions of the X server, e.g. the version from
stable?

Bug#632485: libgl1-nvidia-glx: Segmentation fault in libnvidia-glcore.so.275.09.07

2011-07-05 Thread Hadret
Hi there!

Another one here with same issue. I was trying to make it work number
of times and on different approaches, no luck so far. I was getting
"segmentation fault" when installed proprietary drivers debian-way and
from NVIDIAs default installer, on 275 and 280 versions. The worst
part is nouveau isn't working for me either and now I have to use
vesa, which doesn't allow me to use high resolution (not mentioning
other lacks).
Oh, and BTW, I was trying installation on latest 2.6.39 kernel as well
as on earlier one and on 3.0~rc5 too, so it seems not kernel related.
It doesn't look like that drivers are guilty too, I guess there's
something wrong with Xserver itself, maybe with communication with
drivers, but I have no experience and enough knowledge to figure it
out.

Regards,

Bug#632485: libgl1-nvidia-glx: Segmentation fault in libnvidia-glcore.so.275.09.07

2011-07-03 Thread Andreas Beckmann
I just uploaded nvidia-graphics-drivers beta 280.04-1 to experimental.
You might want to try this and see if the problem was already fixed
upstream.

Have you tried a different window manager?

Eventually reinstall all nvidia and related packages to make sure you
have no corrupt file there - clear you package cache first, too.
aptitude reinstall '~i nvidia' '~i glx'

Also create a new user and retry as this user - to make sure it's not
something that has accumulated in the dot-files etc. of your account.

There is not much we can do about this bug in the proprietary driver and
libraries. Please check the NVIDIA forum whether this issue has already
been reported there. And then either add more information or create a
new bug report there. The NVIDIA forum and bug reporting instruction can
be found here:
 http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=46678
Please post a forum URL to this bug so that we can track progress.

Bug#632485: libgl1-nvidia-glx: Segmentation fault in libnvidia-glcore.so.275.09.07

2011-07-02 Thread Lénaïc Huard
Package: libgl1-nvidia-glx
Version: 275.09.07-4
Severity: important

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Since a recent update of my Debian sid, I’m totally unable to use
graphic hardware acceleration.

In KDE’s systemsettings, composite desktop effects are disabled.
Blender crashes as soon as it starts. The dumped core indicates a
segmentation fault in
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnvidia-glcore.so.275.09.07
I managed to start nvidia-settings. But it crashes as well as soon as I
select “OpenGL/GLX Information”. The dumped core also indicates a
segmentation fault in
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnvidia-glcore.so.275.09.07

The cores, unfortunately, don’t contain any symbol name.
