Great.

Why on both? This seems to just make transitions more painful (to you)… Why
not at least alternatives (aka B-D: gnat-4.6 | gnat ), or simply "not-
versioned" (aka B-D: gnat). Any Debian suite has one available gnat at any
given time (per the above policy), no ? The same goes for binary packages
depends.

Anyway; I don't intend to stand in your path; I was mostly interested in
getting those RC bugs fixed. As long as they get fixed before the freeze (or
the given packages removed from testing), I'm fine. :->

Cheers,

Not started yet, I've been working on other packages. Your mail
prompted me to send a full status report to debian-ada@l.d.o, see
http://lists.debian.org/debian-ada/2011/11/msg2.html

Are the packages going to be migrated to "unversionned" gnat versions
or

should NMUers go to "versionned" gnat-4.6 ?

Per Debian Policy for Ada, all Ada source packages must build-depend on
both gnat gnat gnat-4.6. The reasons are explained in there:

http://people.debian.org/~lbrenta/debian-ada-policy.html

If you are interested you can also watch me explain this at FOSDEM

Bug#642640: libaws: FTBFS: unsatisfiable build-dependencies

Hi Ludovic;

two months later, what is the status of this transition ?

I'm asking because while going through the RC bugs list, I fell on the
src:ahven package (and its #642612 and #646927 RC bugs), that build-depends on
the versionned gnat-4.4 (fix uploaded to DELAYED/2, review appreciated…). Then
I saw that libalog had similar problems, but it build-depends on libaws2.7-
dev, itself depending on the versionned gnat-4.4, hence forbidding an NMU of
libalog.

Are the packages going to be migrated to "unversionned" gnat versions or
should NMUers go to "versionned" gnat-4.6 ?

Cheers,

Bug#642640: libaws: FTBFS: unsatisfiable build-dependencies: gnat, libxmlada3.2-dev (>= 3.2-3), libasis2008-dev (>= 2008-3), libtemplates-parser11.5-dev (>= 11.5-2)

2011-09-24 Thread Ludovic Brenta
This bug will be fixed when libaws transitions to gnat-4.6. The
transition of all Ada packages to the new compiler is currently ongoing.

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on
amd64.

The full build log is available from:
   http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2011/09/23/libaws_2.7-4_lsid64.buildlog

A list of current common problems and possible solutions is available at
http://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/FTBFS . You're welcome to contribute!

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot. Internet was not
accessible from the build systems.
