What is the status of this over 18-month request? The upstream release happened over two years ago. You may wish to maintain this package inside the PHP PEAR (and Composer) Maintainers team and take advantage of the pkg-php-tools helper. Regards David signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Could you send a patch to the upstream? I'm confused. I was unable to reproduce your issue. I've created myself a package[1] based on your debian packaging files and the single-file version of simplepie 1.3.1 [2]. I've then updated 2 of the two patches (cache_directory.patch and include_idn.patch) and ditched assigning_the_return_value_of_new_by_reference_is_now_deprecated.patch . I had created the latter with a naive 'sed -e "s/=&/=/g"' and it caused a error at runtime[3]. I didn't bother to investigate, I simply removed it from debian/series and it just worked. I might be missing something fundamental, I've only tested using tt-rss. -Pascal [1] I may provide it upon request. But really, there isn't anything special. The SimplePie build system is broken. I opened a bug about it 7 months ago. So, I will upload the newest version when the upstream fix it. Bug#704431: libphp-simplepie: Please update to 1.3.1
Package: libphp-simplepie Version: 1.2.1 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer, Please consider updating this package to version 1.3.1, the latest version provided upstream. I'm sure a few packages will benefit from this update (at least dokuwiki and tt-rss directly depends on it). Personal motivation for opening this bug: I've switched from Google Reader to self-hosted tt-rss. The current version of libphp-simplepie fails to parse the current RSS feeds from Springer Link Journal of Signal Processing Systems. Version 1.3.1 succeeds.
