Bug#775354: icedove: Can't save to "sent", can't move or delete mails (IMAP)
Dear Carsten, I have solved the problem for me, at least. Why it is occurring I don't know. Am 27.01.2015 um 07:37 schrieb Carsten Schoenert: Hello Alia, On Fri, Jan 23, 2015 at 09:05:38PM +0100, Alia Toll wrote: Happen this issue only with one specific IMAP Account or mostly with the same servers? I have now found out, that it mainly happens with one specific folder on one server. I also had contact with the administrators, but they couldn't help yet. It's a problem with the "Gesendet" (sent) folder. It can't even be reloaded from the server, so if I write messages from the webinterface, I can't see them locally. In the webinterface everything works fine though. if the issue is happen with one single account please create a new profile which holds only this one account. You get two things by this, test out if it is a problem with the other profile and debugging is becomming much easier. If you have a hugh amount of mails in the Sent folder please try out to reduce them. In the past there those several people that reported issues with Icedove and really big folders. This is exactly what I did. I created a folder "old_sent" and moved most the old sent mails to this new folder, so that now there are only about 200 mails left in the "sent" folder. This I have done in the web interface, because from Icedove this was not possible, as the folder could not be synchronized. After restarting icedove everything worked fine again, all the folder could be synchronized, no mails are lost anymore. PS: I have looked into the private sent mail with the log, but I can't see a hook which is telling why icedove binary is segfaulting. Dear Carsten, I tried several things now: 1. looked at the error console, but there were just errors long ago when the error occurred and I don't understand them: = Zeitstempel: 15.01.2015 10:11:05 Warnung: mutating the [[Prototype]] of an object will cause your code to run very slowly; instead create the object with the correct initial [[Prototype]] value using Object.create Quelldatei: resource://gre/modules/Preferences.jsm Zeile: 378 and Zeitstempel: 15.01.2015 10:11:09 Fehler: listManager.setUpdateUrl is not a function Quelldatei: resource://gre/components/nsPhishingProtectionApplication.js Zeile: 156 and Zeitstempel: 15.01.2015 10:11:10 Fehler: Please do not load stuff in the multimessage browser directly, use the SummaryFrameManager instead. Further on e-mails can't be moved then from one folder to another and no e-mails can be deleted by moving them to "trash". Have you tried to take a look at the error console (press Ctrl + Shift + J). Propably you swill see somthing that tells you where the issue is come from. Or start the Icedove via console and log some internal activity of the binary. Please visit the wike to see how to do. https://wiki.debian.org/Icedove#Debugging_Icedove_Activity When restarting somtimes it works again normally, where everything (sending, moving deleting) is possible. But not always single restarting helps. Often only multiple restarting of icedove helps. Especially that keeping track of sent mails fails, is quite severe for me. I can't say, what causes the problem. It doesn't matter whether I connect to the servers via SSL/TLS or STARTTLS. The problem occurs for different hosts. I don't believe it's related to the protocol that Icedove is using talking to to the server(s). It's more a OSI layer 3 problem, so the layer before the protocol. But without any log we can't say nothing. Did this happen if you running Icedove in safe mode? Maybe a plugin is making trouble. This not only happened for the experimental package but also for the testing package I'm working with booth version currently, I don't have such issues you describe so I think it's a problem not directly related to Icedove. Bug#775354: icedove: Can't save to "sent", can't move or delete mails (IMAP)
Package: icedove Version: 34.0~b1-2 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, sometimes after sending e-mails icedove hangs forever to saying "saving message to folder sent". The message is appropriately sent, but not saved. The only way of going on is to click on terminate. Then the message is lost. This does not always happen, but quite often, at least once a day. Further on e-mails can't be moved then from one folder to another and no e-mails can be deleted by moving them to "trash". When restarting somtimes it works again normally, where everything (sending, moving deleting) is possible. This not only happened for the experimental package but also for the testing package Thank you for your help and for maintaining the package. I'm sorry if my description is not so detailed, but I am quite new to linux. I hope it is not due to some settings I made, but the error appeared without me changing anything and I could not find anything on the web. -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.0 APT prefers testing-updates APT policy: (500, 'testing-updates'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE.utf8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages icedove depends on: ii debianutils 4.4+b1 ii fontconfig2.11.0-6.3 ii libasound21.0.28-1 ii libatk1.0-0 2.14.0-1 ii libc6 2.19-13 ii libcairo2 1.14.0-2.1 ii libdbus-1-3 1.8.12-3 ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.102-1 ii libevent-2.0-52.0.21-stable-2 ii libffi6 3.1-2+b2 ii libfontconfig12.11.0-6.3 ii libfreetype6 2.5.2-2 ii libgcc1 1:4.9.1-19 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-02.31.1-2+b1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.42.1-1 ii libgtk2.0-0 2.24.25-1 ii libhunspell-1.3-0 1.3.3-3 ii libnspr4 2:4.10.7-1 ii libnss3 2:3.17.2-1.1 ii libpango-1.0-01.36.8-3 ii libpangocairo-1.0-0 1.36.8-3 ii libpangoft2-1.0-0 1.36.8-3 ii libpixman-1-0 0.32.6-3 ii libsqlite3-0 3.8.7.1-1 ii libstartup-notification0 0.12-4 ii libstdc++64.9.1-19 ii libvpx1 1.3.0-3 ii libx11-6 2:1.6.2-3 ii libxcomposite11:0.4.4-1 ii libxdamage1 1:1.1.4-2+b1 ii libxext6 2:1.3.3-1 ii libxfixes31:5.0.1-2+b2 ii libxrender1 1:0.9.8-1+b1 ii libxt61:1.1.4-1+b1 ii psmisc22.21-2 ii zlib1g1:1.2.8.dfsg-2+b1 Versions of packages icedove recommends: ii hunspell-de-at [hunspell-dictionary] 20131206-5 ii hunspell-de-ch [hunspell-dictionary] 20131206-5 ii hunspell-de-de [hunspell-dictionary] 20131206-5 ii hunspell-en-us [hunspell-dictionary] 20070829-6 Versions of packages icedove suggests: ii fonts-lyx 2.1.2-2 ii libgssapi-krb5-2 1.12.1+dfsg-16 -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
