Ok, I had a look, and it seems we had just done the same :)

I have thus removed the branch. Thanks for creating the repo etc.
anyway!

I'll wait a bit in case somebody sees a red flag concerning migrating to
python3-dogtail directly, and upload.

Samuel

Sorry if my reply was unclear: I think it's fine to move to
python3-dogtail directly.

Cheers!

Which one do you think is desirable? :)

- directly move to python3-dogtail, or
- have a python-dogtail for some time.

Great, thank you!

I have done some work on the packaging locally, but I haven't pushed it
to the repository because I did not have time to test what I did and if
I remember correctly, after merging the new upstream version, patches
needed updates and the package did not build correctly anymore.
(January?! Wow, that was a long time ago and this feels really stupid to
not have finished this work). I'll send you my modifications and you can
use whatever you need and what makes sense to you (I updated some
patches, added gbp.conf, updated from upstream).

I think this is indeed desirable.

Yay!

Hi again!

Pushed my modifications to salsa.d.o:debian/dogtail → branch debian/sid.

I let you judge what you can reuse and what stinks → please remove it,
as said previously, I did not manage to build, because patches need updates.

Cheers

A repository was created by Ulrike Uhlig in January. I have now
populated it a bit more, notably with the packaging history, and added
the repo URL in its contrib.

Since python2 packages are being phased out, perhaps we can simply
directly move to python3-dogtail, or do some people still need a
python-dogtail package? (there are no rdeps in Debian itself).

At any rate, I can adopt this package.

I had totally missed the fact that the dogtail package was orphaned,
when we started using it at Tails a few months ago. Oops :)

I'd rather not commit to any new thing right now, but I've just
subscribed to the package tracker so it's now on my radar, and
I _might_ find time to give a hand from time to time ⇒ feel free to
ask whenever help is needed. Maybe start by pushing to a Vcs-Git in
collab-maint?

Cheers,

I just took care of the upload of a new upstream version of dogtail.
(We started using dogtail for automated testing but ran into too many
issues back then, so we need to re-evaluate current state, if it
turns out to be useful for us then I'd be happy to assist in package
maintance.)

@intrigeri: IIRC Tails uses dogtail too, so maybe you're interested
in helping the dogtail maintence? :)

FTR: upstream added python3 support, so it might be interesting to
switch the packaging from binary package python-dogtail into
dogtail, python-dogtail + python3-dogtail?

Hi,

Due to the lack of time and interest, I ask for someone
else to maintain dogtail.

The packaging is in good shape and upstream is active
and responsive.

Cheers!
