For one, it needs to catch-up with every kernel release. But more than that, it is the integration and testing that gets missed. Any module that is in- kernel gets to enjoy the wider testing from the kernel community. > From the upstream's page, it seems there has been no activity for a > little more than a year. Bug reports, testing and packaging. If you are interested, and you have no Debian upload rights, I can be your sponsor for this package. But other than that, not much. I tend to only package/maintain things that I use, and iscsitarget has moved away from that list. But I will sponsor it if you are willing to maintain. -- Ritesh Raj Sarraf RESEARCHUT - http://www.researchut.com "Necessity is the mother of invention." signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

I have been genuinely interested in adopting a package, for a while. Quite frankly, I only played with iscsitarget for a couple of minutes as I am planning to replace my current NAS setup. Considering the integration of IPSec in the mix, I ruled out iSCSI as it couldn't be done meeting my requirements. From my benchmarks, however, IET has 25% more throughput than LIO and, although there's probably some deficiencies regarding complex setups (ACLs, for one), I am not convinced it should be ruled out by users. From the upstream's page, it seems there has been no activity for a little more than a year. Are you in touch with them and, if so, do they have plans for the project? What kind of help do you need?

If you are interested to maintain iet, please respond to this bug, or reach out to me. There's hardly any activity on the mailing list. With LIO, all other targets seem to have faded, at least for Linux setups. I guess I'll mark it as RFA for now, and then later Orphan if there are no takers. -- Ritesh Raj Sarraf RESEARCHUT - http://www.researchut.com "Necessity is the mother of invention." signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part
Bug#786611: Possible fix
Hi, Ubuntu got it fixed already with iscsitarget-1.4.20.3+svn499-0ubuntu2.1 You might want to try and apply their fix-build-3.19.patch (removing the changes to the Makefile). Is it possible to have this bug acknowledged and the patch included? Thanks, P. Grégoire
