Bug#851363: [steam] Add steamos-compositor
From steamos point-of-view, this is a _native_ package, versioned 1.34. As this is developed elsewhere, from Debian's point of view, this would be a non-native package, starting with version 1.34 . A packager would have to start from: http://repo.steampowered.com/steamos/pool/main/s/steamos-compositor/steamos-compositor_1.34.tar.xz The helper tool (git-build-package for example) will ignore the debian/ directory from this tarball & then you would have to provide your own (which can be based on upstream's debian/ directory) Le samedi 14 janvier 2017, 16 h 21 min 19 s CET Bogdan Vatra a écrit : > I imported the srcs here https://github.com/bog-dan-ro/steamos-compositor > . Greetings, I don't have the hardware device & would prefer to have it packaged by someone who has one; but but still I can provide some hints: -> debian mentors is the best place to get start with packaging -> this is best if this is team-maintained by the Games Team, so the little things (and big ones) can be fixed if main uploader is not currently available Alexandre Detiste

I imported the srcs here https://github.com/bog-dan-ro/steamos-compositor . I changed it a little bit to fix debian better. BogDan. Bug#851363: [steam] Add steamos-compositor
Hi, The srcs & debian stuff are already there, someone (I can help) just needs to polish & rebuild it and publish it (I don't have access to do it). Cheers, BogDan. Bug#851363: [steam] Add steamos-compositor
control: retitle -1 RFP steamos-compositor control: reasign -1 wnpp Hi, I guess what you really meant is that someone does the work to have steamos-compositor packaged. (maybe you ?) As the release cycle & license (BSD) are different from "steam" package, this desserve it's own source package. ( I know this because I made the same "mistake" filling a bug for SteamCMD last year: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=775512 ) The resulting binary package (.deb) would go in contrib, as this is BSD-licensed; but useless without non-free "steam" package (I guess). Bug#851363: [steam] Add steamos-compositor
Package: steam Version: 1.0.0.54-2 Severity: wishlist --- Please enter the report below this line. --- Dear Maintainer(s), It will be great if Debian will add steamos-compositor (http:// repo.steamstatic.com/steamos/pool/main/s/steamos-compositor/). Steamos-compositor comes with a xsession script, its own compositor which makes the steam layer actually work (kde & gnome ones have quite a few problems). It seems the package just works, you probably just need to recompile it and push it to debian repos. I've manually installed it from http:// repo.steamstatic.com/steamos/pool/main/s/steamos-compositor/steamos- compositor_1.34+bsos1_amd64.deb, with no dependencies problem (I'm using debian SID), and I could login, using sddm, into the new SteamOS xsession. Steam started in bigpicture mode and everything just worked: games, streaming and the steam overly ;-) ! Yours, BogDan.
