Thanks.
Let's hope this fix lasts for some time now :)

I have made the 2:5.6.0-9 upload and the autopkgtest is passing.

Right, I think that makes sense.

However I have already uploaded tidy-html5 2:5.6.0-8 to revert the part
that caused the autopkgtest regression -- it seems that autopkgtest will
be broken again with current status lol

What do you think would be the proper solution? I suppose we upload
a tidy-html5 2:5.6.0-9 to drop the reverted part since the next major
version of tidy-html5 will adapt such behaviour change anyway.

JFTR: tidy-html5 2:5.6.0-7 broke libhtml-tidy-perl's test suite
again:
https://ci.debian.net/packages/libh/libhtml-tidy-perl/testing/amd64/

I already uploaded a fix (a small change to the test suite to adjust
to the changed ouput), so there's nothing left to be done for now.

I'd just like to re-iterate my request to be careful about reverse
dependencies. - Thanks in advance!

So, I pushed a patch to the git repo which adjusts the testsuite to
html-tidy 5.7. I'm not uploading this right now because
- it's ugly
- there are issues which look like htm-tidy problems [0]
- and there's html-tidy 2:5.6.0-1 in NEW ...

Reviews from other perl-team members welcome.

Cheers,
gregor

Good catch, thank you.
(Updating the bug title as well a bit.)

Thanks for making it clear. With the transition progresses I have to bump
the severity of this bug onto serious. Among all libtidy's reverse dependencies,
3 packages FTBFS (whilst 2 of them are arch:all) and the other two have found
the solution and updated the dependency.

I tried but ratt [1] turned out not to handle transition well and
reported the wrong answer to me... I will surely find a better alternative
next time.

Neither a binNMU nor an upload of -2 in git will work, as the package
doesn't build anymore due to test failures caused by the new
tidy-html5.

Right, that's the same breakage.

For the future: Could you please upload breaking changes to
experimental, file bugs reports against rdeps, and only then upload
to unstable?

Bug#910943: libhtml-tidy-perl: Please upload pending 1.60-2 and coordinate with libtidy transition

2018-10-13 Thread Boyuan Yang
Package: libhtml-tidy-perl
Severity: important
Version: 1.60-1
X-Debbugs-CC: f...@debian.org

Dear libhtml-tidy-perl maintainers,

I have just uploaded an updated version of tidy-html5 onto Debian
unstable. Your package needs to be rebuilt against new tidy to finish
the transition (either by sourceful upload or binNMU). Besides,
currently the autopkgtest of your package would fail with new
tidy-html5.

Could you please investigate into those issues and upload a new
version to solve the incompatibility problem?

Thank you very much!
