Hello Stephen,

I really beg your pardon: I did not read the full description and just
thought to install a software talking to standard devices not realizing
the need for the extra hardware.

There is no device attached to the computer, therefore everything works
as expected. Please, close the report. I wish this embarrassment could
be deleted permanently :-(

I am sorry for bothering you.

Best regards, Alexander.

That suggests something wrong with the device :-(. Does it show up when you
run lsusb? Mine shows

Bus 001 Device 039: ID 0403:6015 Future Technology Devices International, Ltd

dmesg might show more useful information; look around the time you plugged
the TRNG in.

Stephen

Hello Stephen,

unfortunately, it just produces "Error:" like this:

8< - >8
   root@:~# infnoise --debug --no-output
   Error:
   root@:~#
8< - >8

Best regards, Alexander.

Does the device itself work? With the package installed,

sudo infnoise --debug --no-output

should produce output similar to

Generated 1048576 bits. OK to use data. Estimated entropy per bit: 0.875574,
estimated K: 1.834738
num1s:50.805392%, even misfires:0.119403%, odd misfires:0.179104%

repeating every second or so.

Given that dev-infnoise isn’t started though, I suspect /dev/infnoise isn’t
created, and the device itself isn’t recognised...

Stephen

2018-12-29 Thread Mader, Alexander

Package: infnoise
Version: 0.3.0+dfsg-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

thank you for providing infnoise!

Unfortunately, the infnoise service does not start due to the
dev-infnoise device not starting in turn. I picked the latest version
from the unstable repository but the problem persists. It doesn't start
neither at boot time nor using systemctl later on.

I did not change anything to the configuration deliberately :-)

In a follow up I will send two pictures of the boot screen.

Best regards, Alexander.
