2023-10-28 Thread rhys
Package: gcc-12
Version: 12.2.0-14+rpi1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: rmor...@web.de

Dear Maintainer,

Following code:

#include

char myBuf[] = { '\x01', '\x04', '\x31', '\x00', '\x00', '\x1D', '\x7E', '\xF7'
};

void process_buffer (char *);

int main (int argc, char **argv) {
printf ("sizeof (myBuf) = %d\n", sizeof (myBuf));

process_buffer (myBuf);
}

void process_buffer (char *bufPtr) {
printf ("sizeof (bufPtr) = %d\n", sizeof (bufPtr));
}

produces following output:

sizeof (myBuf) = 8
sizeof (bufPtr) = 4

expected output (confirmed on Oracle Linux 8.4):

sizeof (myBuf) = 8
sizeof (bufPtr) = 8

Yes, this is the culprit and already fixed locally.

Then newer versions also have a new dependency that is not (yet)
packaged for Debian. I don't have time for that as if I remember
correctly it is something uncommon. I think I will let git-cola go.

| Code injection via WebAssembly export names

CVE-2023-38552[1]:
| When the Node.js policy feature checks the integrity of a resource
| against a trusted manifest, the application can intercept the
| operation and return a forged checksum to the node's policy
| implementation, thus effectively disabling the integrity check.
| Impacts: This vulnerability affects all users using the experimental
| policy mechanism in all active release lines: 18.x and, 20.x. Please
| note that at the time this CVE was issued, the policy mechanism is
| an experimental feature of Node.js.

2023-10-28 Thread Stefan Kropp
Control: reassign -1 tasksel
Control: affects -1 + debian-junior

debian-junior (1.31) has been uploaded to unstable.
There is a new meta package called junior-desktop [1]

It would be nice to add this package to the Debian Installer.
(Only junior-desktop - not the others in debian-junior)

The goal is to let the user install an Desktop environment for
the Debian Pure Blend project "Debian Jr." [2]

Hi,

The following vulnerability was published for node-browserify-sign.

CVE-2023-46234[0]:
| browserify-sign is a package to duplicate the functionality of
| node's crypto public key functions, much of this is based on Fedor
| Indutny's work on indutny/tls.js. An upper bound check issue in
| `dsaVerify` function allows an attacker to construct signatures that
| can be successfully verified by any public key, thus leading to a
| signature forgery attack. All places in this project that involve
| DSA verification of user-input signatures will be affected by this
| vulnerability. This issue has been patched in version 4.2.2.

Sorry for the inconvenience. I always strive to avoid breaking Debian.

We shouldn't have any new dependencies -- that might've been an oversight
(adding a dependency on rst.linker) which was fixed some time ago.

I believe a related issue was that rst.linker did not work offline
(which was bad for Debian), so we dropped it.

https://github.com/git-cola/git-cola/issues/1251

Git Cola itself will only ever depend on packages already available in
Debian, forevermore.

Thank you Laszlo,
David

Since Django 4.x, url() function was removed and replaced by "re_path". Attached
patch fix the build failure.

Bug#1054896: libasound2: alsa 1.2.10-1 segfaults on i386

2023-10-28 Thread Petra Rübe-Pugliese
Package: libasound2
Version: 1.2.10-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

Since update of the alsa packages
libasound2
libasound2-data
alsa-utils
libatopology2
from v1.2.9-1 to v1.2.10-1 all sound programs fail with a
segfault (see typical output below.)

This happens reproducibly on four different i386 computers
(this Thinkpad T420, two older Thinkpads T41, and an old PC).
I cannot tell if any other architecture is affected.

Downgrading of the four packages to v1.2.9-1 solves the problem.

Typical output:

Segmentation fault
~ > aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Noise.wav

Bug#1054897: lintian: Also warn about later switches to date-based versioning schemes

2023-10-28 Thread Peter Wienemann
Package: lintian
Version: 2.116.3
Severity: wishlist

Dear maintainers,

at present Lintian only emits the tag
"new-package-uses-date-based-version-number" if
- a date-based versioning scheme is used for the latest changelog entry and
- the number of changelog entries is one.

I think it would be better to emit it if
- a date-based versioning scheme is used for the latest changelog entry and
- the number of changelog entries with a date-based versioning scheme is one.

One might also consider adapting the tag name to reflect the change of logic.

The background of this request is a discussion on the security tools mailing
list [0]
which made me aware that the present rule set offers a loophole.

Best regards,

Peter

Bug#1054898: piuparts: drop unmerged-usr sid configuration for debci

2023-10-28 Thread Luca Boccassi
Source: piuparts
Severity: important
Tags: patch
X-Debbugs-Cc: hel...@subdivi.de

Dear Piuparts Maintainers,

Last month the buildds were reconfigured to always build unstable in
merged-usr, as expected given the transition is moving forward.
usrmerge no longer allows skipping the setup now, as the next step.
Piuparts still creates both an unmerged and a merged sid chroot - the
former needs to be dropped now, as it can no longer be set up. A
tentative config change can be found here - please note that it is just
speculative, as I am no expert on this matter:

On https://snapshot.debian.org/binary/linux-image-amd64/ you can find all the
kernel versions released in Debian.
Can you verify that 6.5~rc4-1~exp1 indeed also has this issue?
When that's the case, can you ssh into your machine and get the `dmesg` output
and attach that to this bug report?

That's not Debian's kernel. Why did you not report it to liquorix's repo?

Bug#1054891: gcc-12: sizeof() error in called function

Please report this, where you downloaded that package versions, closing here in
Debian.

Dear Maintainer,

Following code:

#include

char myBuf[] = { '\x01', '\x04', '\x31', '\x00', '\x00', '\x1D', '\x7E', '\xF7'
};

void process_buffer (char *);

int main (int argc, char **argv) {
 printf ("sizeof (myBuf) = %d\n", sizeof (myBuf));

 process_buffer (myBuf);
}

void process_buffer (char *bufPtr) {
 printf ("sizeof (bufPtr) = %d\n", sizeof (bufPtr));
}

produces following output:

sizeof (myBuf) = 8
sizeof (bufPtr) = 4

expected output (confirmed on Oracle Linux 8.4):

sizeof (myBuf) = 8
sizeof (bufPtr) = 8

-This package uses quilt to manage all modifications to the upstream
-source. Changes are stored in the source package as diffs in
-debian/patches and applied during the build.
-
-To configure quilt to use debian/patches instead of patches, you want
-either to export QUILT_PATCHES=debian/patches in your environment
-or use this snippet in your ~/.quiltrc:
-
-for where in ./ ../ ../../ ../../../ ../../../../ ../../../../../; do
-if [ -e ${where}debian/rules -a -d ${where}debian/patches ]; then
-export QUILT_PATCHES=debian/patches
-break

-
-To get the fully patched source after unpacking the source package, cd to
-the root level of the source package and run:
-
-quilt push -a
-
-The last patch listed in debian/patches/series will become the current
-patch.
-
-To add a new set of changes, first run quilt push -a, and then run:
-
-quilt new

-debian/patches. Then, for every file that will be modified by this patch,
-run:
-
-quilt add
-

-will be part of the patch before making changes or quilt will not work
-properly. After editing the files, run:
-
-quilt refresh
-
-to save the results as a patch.
-
-Alternately, if you already have an external patch and you just want to

-quilt import -P /path/to/patch
-quilt push -a

-use in debian/patches. The last quilt push -a will apply the patch to
-make sure it works properly.
-

This is an array, so sizeof() shows the length of that array. Making it
longer would have showed you your mistake directly.

> void process_buffer (char *bufPtr) {
> printf ("sizeof (bufPtr) = %d\n", sizeof (bufPtr));

This is a pointer. A pointer points to somethine else. The size of a
pointer is unrelated to your array.

> produces following output:
> sizeof (myBuf) = 8
> sizeof (bufPtr) = 4

You run on a 32 bit system, so pointers are 4*sizeof(char), aka 4 byte.

> expected output (confirmed on Oracle Linux 8.4):
> sizeof (myBuf) = 8
> sizeof (bufPtr) = 8

Oracle Linux 8 does not support 32 bit systems, so you run on a 64 bit
system. Pointers are 8*sizeof(char), aka 8 bytes.

Arrays and pointers in C are sometimes interchangeable, but with great
precision you found one of the exceptions.

On the lintian user side: Ignoring silly results works for me.

On the lintian developer side: Fixing whatever produces the weird and of
course incorrect ordering that's then expected and complained about.

Adding an exception hides the bug. Then it's going to appear again when
the next suite is around the corner, until an exception is added again,
etc. That doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

Test results look good to me too, feel free to go ahead.

Compared to what I get from a `dpkg-buildpackage -S` run locally (using
the bullseye branch at tag debian/1.0.123+deb11u2), the source package
available on coccia adds the debian/.gitignore file; this is merely
intriguing and not something that should block processing this upload,
possibly linked to dgit's having been used at some point?

I am working on a fix atm. My plan is to add a dispatcher script for
Shorwall that calls the ifupdown script to the shorewall-init package.
The script installed by the package will go into:

  /usr/lib/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d

If you choose to install one manually it goes into:

  /etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d

The script will look something like the attached (currently untested).

Please consider adding a native hook script and not simply calling the
if-up.d script from the NM hook script. This is no

If there is shared functionality, this should be placed into a script in
/usr/lib/$pkg and be called from both if-up.d and the NM-dispatcher hook.

Michael

Bug#1054903: libreoffice-texmaths: dependencies not installed

2023-10-28 Thread Michal Was
Package: libreoffice-texmaths
Version: 0.49-1
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: michal@ceti.pl

Dear Maintainer,

I had installed libreoffice-texmaths via aptitude. Opened "Writer",
   and clicked on "pi" icon.
I expected TexMaths editor window opening, but got an error pop-up:
"Can't find at least one of the external programs dvipng or dvisvgm
Please check the file paths in your TexMaths system configuration..."

Installing dvipng by hand fixed the problem immediately, and TexMaths
   extension works as intended.

   (Hint for solution)
TexMaths' developer(s) mention dvisvg/dvipng as software dependency
(see extensions' homepage -> install.html). But these are not marked
as dependencies in Debian repo. Setting them to be so may fix the
   problem.

At least in Debian it shouldn't be run.

That's bad for two reasons:

1. Ignoring all test results makes the whole tests rather useless since
noone will notice when other tests regress.

2. It still keeps a release critical bug, policy says[1]:
For packages in the main archive, required targets **must not attempt**
network access, except, via the loopback interface, to services on the
build host that have been started by the build.

I noticed right now due to the maintainer upload missing the NMUs,
but this should really be fixed properly by disabling this specific test.

Bug#1025708: bullseye-pu: package debootstrap/1.0.123+deb11u2

I believe dpkg-source defaults to the equivalent of `dpkg-source -I`
for 3.0 (native) format packages, which ignores some files that would
normally appear in git, notably .gitignore.

I normally use
DEBUILD_DPKG_BUILDPACKAGE_OPTS="-us -uc -I.*.sw? -I.sw? -I.git" which
disables the default `-I` and instead excludes .git but not .gitignore,
making the uploaded source package exactly equivalent to what's in git
(and as a result, more dgit-friendly). If you would prefer any subsequent
uploads of d-i-related components to always exclude the .gitignore,
I'll try to remember that for the future.

Bug#1054906: fftw3: Please enable avx2

Dear Maintainer,

please enable avx2 on Intel architectures, as it is probably available on most
Intel CPUs in the field today.

In my use cases (2D single-precision image transforms) this saves 20% execution
time on an i5-4570.

It should be as simple as:

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
Sometimes boot stops indefinitely. The following messages appear:
i801_smbus transaction timeout
i801_smbus failed terminating the transaction
i801_smbus SMBUS is busy, can't use it

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
I have tried blacklisting the i2c kernel module. It was ineffective.

Sorry for the late response.

Yes, it makes good sense for me to maintain the other crates in same
monorepo as one Debian source package.

As it happens, upstream installs the same ifupdown script in
/usr/share/shorewall-init/ as well as /etc/network/if-*.d/. The Fedora
and SUSE versions, which have been extended to allow them to be used as
NM dispatcher scripts, are additionally installed in
/etc/NetworkManger/dispatcher.d/. Lots of duplication. The refactoring
you suggest would certainly be an improvement. The current solution,
which does at least get the functionality working again, was uploaded
this morning, but, as I say, your proposal makes sense, so I will come
back to this when I get a moment.

| images. The stbi__getn function reads a specified number of bytes
| from context (typically a file) into the specified buffer. In case
| the file stream points to the end, it returns zero. There are two
| places where its return value is not checked: In the
| `stbi__hdr_load` function and in the `stbi__tga_load` function. The
| latter of the two is likely more exploitable as an attacker may also
| control the size of an uninitialized buffer.

CVE-2023-45664[3]:
| stb_image is a single file MIT licensed library for processing
| images. A crafted image file can trigger
| `stbi__load_gif_main_outofmem` attempt to double-free the out
| variable. This happens in `stbi__load_gif_main` because when the
| `layers * stride` value is zero the behavior is implementation
| defined, but common that realloc frees the old memory and returns
| null pointer. Since it attempts to double-free the memory a few
| lines below the first “free”, the issue can be potentially exploited
| only in a multi-threaded environment. In the worst case this may

CVE-2023-45666[4]:
| stb_image is a single file MIT licensed library for processing
| images. It may look like `stbi__load_gif_main` doesn’t give
| guarantees about the content of output value `*delays` upon failure.
| Although it sets `*delays` to zero at the beginning, it doesn’t do
| it in case the image is not recognized as GIF and a call to
| `stbi__load_gif_main_outofmem` only frees possibly allocated memory
| in `*delays` without resetting it to zero. Thus it would be fair to
| say the caller of `stbi__load_gif_main` is responsible to free the
| allocated memory in `*delays` only if `stbi__load_gif_main` returns
| a non null value. However at the same time the function may return
| null value, but fail to free the memory in `*delays` if internally
| `stbi__convert_format` is called and fails. Thus the issue may lead
| to a memory leak if the caller chooses to free `delays` only when
| `stbi__load_gif_main` didn’t fail or to a double-free if the
| `delays` is always freed

The most simple fix I can think of would be to copy the script into each

I like this approach for the d-e-a version that we want to bring to

However I'm wondering why the package is set up the way it is, couldn't
we rename debian-edu-artwork to debian-edu-artwork-common, make the
theme subpackages require that and turn debian-edu-artwork into a
virtual package provided by each theme subpackage?

This we should revisit for d-e-a in Debian Edu trixie. Please file an
extra bug for this.

Bug#1054912: opensearch: CVE-2023-45807 CVE-2023-31141 CVE-2023-23613 CVE-2023-23612

2023-10-28 Thread Moritz Mühlenhoff
Source: opensearch
X-Debbugs-CC: t...@security.debian.org
Severity: important
Tags: security

Hi,

The following vulnerabilities were published for opensearch.

It's not fully clear to me which affect the bits packaged in Debian
and which not.

CVE-2023-45807[0]:
| OpenSearch is a community-driven, open source fork of Elasticsearch
| and Kibana following the license change in early 2021. There is an
| issue with the implementation of tenant permissions in OpenSearch
| Dashboards where authenticated users with read-only access to a
| tenant can perform create, edit and delete operations on index
| metadata of dashboards and visualizations in that tenant,
| potentially rendering them unavailable. This issue does not affect
| index data, only metadata. Dashboards correctly enforces read-only
| permissions when indexing and updating documents. This issue does
| not provide additional read access to data users don’t already have.
| This issue can be mitigated by disabling the tenants functionality
| for the cluster. Versions 1.3.14 and 2.11.0 contain a fix for this
| issue.

https://github.com/opensearch-project/security/security/advisories/GHSA-72q2-gwwf-6hrv

CVE-2023-31141[1]:
| OpenSearch is open-source software suite for search, analytics, and
| observability applications. Prior to versions 1.3.10 and 2.7.0,
| there is an issue with the implementation of fine-grained access
| control rules (document-level security, field-level security and
| field masking) where they are not correctly applied to the queries
| during extremely rare race conditions potentially leading to
| incorrect access authorization. For this issue to be triggered, two
| concurrent requests need to land on the same instance exactly when
| query cache eviction happens, once every four hours. OpenSearch
| 1.3.10 and 2.7.0 contain a fix for this issue.

https://github.com/opensearch-project/security/security/advisories/GHSA-g8xc-6mf7-h28h

CVE-2023-23613[2]:
| OpenSearch is an open source distributed and RESTful search engine.
| In affected versions there is an issue in the implementation of
| field-level security (FLS) and field masking where rules written to
| explicitly exclude fields are not correctly applied for certain
| queries that rely on their auto-generated .keyword fields. This
| issue is only present for authenticated users with read access to
| the indexes containing the restricted fields. This may expose data
| which may otherwise not be accessible to the user. OpenSearch
| 1.0.0-1.3.7 and 2.0.0-2.4.1 are affected. Users are advised to
| upgrade to OpenSearch 1.3.8 or 2.5.0. Users unable to upgrade may
| write explicit exclusion rules as a workaround. Policies authored in
| this way are not subject to this issue.

CVE-2023-23612[3]:
| OpenSearch is an open source distributed and RESTful search engine.
| OpenSearch uses JWTs to store role claims obtained from the Identity
| Provider (IdP) when the authentication backend is SAML or OpenID
| Connect. There is an issue in how those claims are processed from
| the JWTs where the leading and trailing whitespace is trimmed,
| allowing users to potentially claim roles they are not assigned to
| if any role matches the whitespace-stripped version of the roles
| they are a member of. This issue is only present for authenticated
| users, and it requires either the existence of roles that match, not
| considering leading/trailing whitespace, or the ability for users to
| create said matching roles. In addition, the Identity Provider must
| allow leading and trailing spaces in role names. OpenSearch
| 1.0.0-1.3.7 and 2.0.0-2.4.1 are affected. Users are advised to
| upgrade to OpenSearch 1.3.8 or 2.5.0. There are no known workarounds
| for this issue.

Bug#1054898: piuparts.d.o: overhaul merged-/usr configuration to match the majority of installed systems (was: piuparts: drop unmerged-usr sid configuration for debci)

Bcc:
Reply-To:
Control: retitle -1 piuparts.d.o: overhaul merged-/usr configuration to match
the majority of installed systems

Cc'ing Helmut & the release team as a heads-up.

Hi Luca,

Thanks for submitting this bug and proposing a patch. To recap, piuparts tests
in sid are currently broken because the usr-is-merged package fails to upgrade
since it's removed support for the exemption flag (as piuparts uses
unmerged-/usr chroots with the flag file, which is not supported anymore).

Before rushing to fix this with one more hack, I'd like to have a look at what
we want piuparts to be testing from first principles again.

In short, I think we've made a mistake by having piuparts use unmerged-/usr
chroots during the bookworm development cycle, and I'd like to fix that now.

As far as I understand, this is our "support matrix"

| distro | build chroots | installed system support | layout for
new installs |
| -- | - | - |
--- |
| sid (&exp) | merged-/usr | merged-/usr only | merged
   |
| trixie | merged-/usr | merged-/usr only | merged
   |
| bookworm | unmerged-/usr | merged-/usr only | merged
   |
| bullseye | unmerged-/usr | merged or unmerged| merged
   |
| buster | unmerged-/usr | merged or unmerged| merged
   |
| stretch| unmerged-/usr | unmerged or merged (experimental) | unmerged
   |
| jessie | unmerged-/usr | unmerged-/usr only| unmerged
   |

In practice, as piuparts has been running almost exclusively on unmerged-/usr
chroots, and only running a narrow set of sid tests on merged-/usr chroots, it
has been running its (package install and upgrade) tests mostly against a
non-default setup, catching issues that would have been most relevant for build
chroots.

I believe that we should be doing the following now:

 - Update the piuparts config to default to generating and using merged-/usr
chroots for all suites. Upload piuparts to sid.
 - Replace all base chroots from buster and up on piuparts.debian.org with
   merged-/usr chroots
 - (maybe) add unmerged variants of the bullseye-pu and bookworm-pu tests to
make
sure we can still use these packages in buildd chroots

There is the question of what to do for piuparts.d.o tests that involve
upgrading the base chroot across the unmerged-/usr support boundary, but
switching over to only using merged-/usr base chroots for buster and up will
alleviate that (I don't think we have any archaeological tests starting from
stretch running anymore).

Alternatively, I've poked a little bit at running the usrmerge script in a
pre_distupgrade piuparts hook, which is a bit awkward as these hooks are run
after the sources.list is updated for the target suite. It's just a matter of
adding a new class of hooks (pre_sourceslistupdate or something) and
implementing usrmerge in that. I'm not sure it's worth the hassle compared to
the efforts already put into dumat.

As far as I can tell, to guard testing migration, the release team is
comparing the results of piuparts running on the package in trixie, with
the results of piuparts running on the package in sid. I'm not sure that
upgrades (that is, testing2sid) are involved, so, as long as the chroots
are consistent between the trixie tests and the sid tests, these exports
should keep making sense for the release team.

Does my reasoning make sense?

Thanks,

If that's an intentional upstream change, reassigning to catch2 won't
help as it's not a bug in that package.

Your reasoning makes sense to me, thanks.

At this point we are already past the upgrade-across-boundary phase,
so I wouldn't spend extra time on that.

Alright, that explains it then.

Until 3.0 (git) was used everywhere, it was very customary to have some
differences in successive uploads, depending on who was uploading, and
whether -i/-I was used; it's not a huge deal, and only means a little
noise when reviewing diffs.

Whatever is fine with SRMs is fine with me. (It just happened to
surprise me a little when I compared a local source build with what was
uploaded and is available on coccia, since I built from my local repo
as usual instead of thinking about downloading your source packages from
the get-go.)

Bug#1054915: bookworm-pu: package freerdp2/2.11.2+dfsg1-1~deb12u1

Control: affects -1 + src:freerdp2

I'm asking for pre-approval to update freerdp2 from 2.10.0 to
2.11.2.

The changes from 2.10.0 to 2.11.2 are mainly targeting security
fixes (12 CVE's, see security tracker [1] for details),

[1] https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/source-package/freerdp2

upstream changelog is at
https://github.com/FreeRDP/FreeRDP/blob/stable-2.0/ChangeLog
all commits are:
https://github.com/FreeRDP/FreeRDP/compare/2.10.0...2.11.2

When working on the LTS updates, I've been in contact in contact with the
maintainer and one of the upstream maintainer and checked with them
about feasbility and e.g confirmed that the new upstream version is ABI
compatible. I've tested reverse dependencies (remmina, vinagre,
gnome-connections) against a Windows 10 RDP host and confirmed packages
are still working.

Backporting the fixes is of course possible, but bears a significant
risk for regression, therefor I would prefer to use the new upstream
version, given also that upstream changes are only a few and fixing
also a few bugs that would be nice to be fixed.

As far as I understood it, the maintainers would also prefer the new
version over patching the one in stable. (They are in CC, so can
intervene if I got that wrong…)

If this is a viable route, please let me know and I will prepare a
debdiff for a the real approval.

Bug#1054916: ITP: python-disptrans -- Dispersion-Compensated Algorithm

Package: wnpp

* Package name: python-disptrans
  Version : 0.0.1
  Upstream Contact: John Garrett
* URL : https://github.com/garrettj403/DispersionTransform
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Dispersion-Compensated Algorithm

It is an algorithm for the analysis for electromagnetic
waveguides. It allows one to map dispersive waveguide data
from the frequency-domain to distance-domain, and vice versa.

The benefit of this approach, compared to a standard
Fourier transform, is that this algorithm compensates for
dispersion. It is useful in physics and astrophysics.

Bug#1054917: evolution-ews: Importing ics calendar to Exchange server gets TZ wrong

2023-10-28 Thread Andrew Perrin
Package: evolution-ews
Version: 3.50.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
Importing .ics calendar files downloaded from elsewhere, for example
sports schedules
from GoHeels.com, that have DTSTART and DTEND fields demarcated in UTC
with Z at the end to
identify

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
Importing to an Exchange calendar connected to Evolution results in the
event's time being
set to the UTC time in the local time zone - for example, an event with
DTSTART:20230909T211500Z
DTEND:20230910T001500Z

is imported as starting at 9:15 pm Eastern (my local time zone) and
ending the following
day at 12:15 am Eastern. The correct time would be 5:15 pm - 8:15 pm
Eastern.

Importing the same .ics file to a local calendar via Evolution sets the
time zone as
expected, and importing the same .ics file to the Exchange calendar via
Office 365
(web interface) sets the time zone as expected, so I believe the
problem is with
Evolution's interface with the Exchange calendar.

Thank you for your work!

This one seems to be a Makefile bug, where not all dependencies are
correctly specified.

Try using make 4.4.x to "amplify" the probability of failure.
You can download it from this URL:

https://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/make/make-4.4.1.tar.gz

and build it with the usual "./configure; make".
Only the "make" executable is required. Just put
it inside your chroot replacing /usr/bin/make.

(For the record, I can reproduce the bug very easily that way).

Alternatively, if you prefer, I can create a virtual
machine for you to reproduce this failure in the same
framework used by Lucas to build packages (i.e. same machine,
with same CPU speed, same number of CPUs, etc). Please contact
me privately for details.

Thanks.

Bug#1054919: kaccounts-providers: google authentication hang after username entry

2023-10-28 Thread Alexis Murzeau

Package: kaccounts-providers
Version: 4:22.12.3-2
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Dear Maintainer,

When trying to login to a google account to use google drive with kio-gdrive,
the authentication hang.

The reproduction steps are:
- Open systemsettings
- Go to online accounts
- Add a new account and choose "Google"
- A webpage dialog is opened with the google login page
- Enter the username then click on "Next" on the google login page
- The webpage hangs there and never goes to the next page

To fix this, I've put this line in /etc/signon-ui/webkit-
options.d/accounts.google.com.conf:
UserAgent = Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/77.0

The webpage issue is maybe caused by the use of Qt webkit, using an older
UserAgent probably causes Google to offer an older login page that works with
Qt webkit.

As the UserAgent is required to make the login work, can it be added to the
package ?

Thank you for the reviews!

If you still have some time to spare by any chance, I think this will
be needed soon:

https://salsa.debian.org/installer-team/debian-installer/-/merge_requests/39

If everything goes according to plans, next week there will be udev
v255-rc1, which I will upload to unstable to get more coverage before
the release - and it will no longer support legacy paths/layouts, which
I think will affect the daily d-i builds.

Thank you!

I built dracut and dracut-core packages from your branch and can also
confirm it fixes the issue, and the generated EFI image is now bootable
again.

It would be good to make sure the broken dracut doesn't migrate to
stable. Since this bug results in an unbootable system after a kernel
upgrade, should this be `serious` instead of `normal`?

All the best,

Bug#1054898: piuparts.d.o: overhaul merged-/usr configuration to match the majority of installed systems

Well, if I recall correctly one of the worries during the bookworm
development cycle was a class of bugs that would break on
un-merged-/usr, but not on merged-/usr. Hence, we *choose* to have
piuparts test with the former. I don't think *yet* that that was a mistake.

Indeed, britney2 only looks at the pure sid and pure testing results.

While I totally stand behind this, with the kfreebsd's removed now even
from the ports [1], maybe it's time to stop building console-setup-freebsd?

And now, due to changes in our migration software, this issue has caused
console-setup to be blocked for 34 days already [1]:

uninstallable on arch amd64, not running autopkgtest there

I'll hint it through now, but it would be nicer if console-setup-freebsd
would be dropped next time (as it would ensure src:console-setup gets
the normal autopkgtest treatment).

Bug#1054920: perftest: ib__ manual pages outdated

2023-10-28 Thread Étienne Mollier
Package: perftest
Version: 4.5+0.17-1
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

There is currently a lot of delta between the documented options
of maintainer manual pages of the different ib__
commands, which are timestamped as dating back from 2008, and
the wealth of options currently reported by the commands' --help
output. I have been banging my head wondering how to change
some test parameters until I noticed the newer options while
browsing through perftest source code.

Depending on what is the easiest for you, I think it would be
welcome to see the manual pages refreshed, or at least have a
prominent SEE ALSO section strongly stating that the information
in the manual may be outdated, and one should preferably refer
to --help for the complete list of options.

Have a good day, :)

Ah, so it is probably not worth applying this to bookworm, as these
languages are not enabled at present in the bookworm version, and this
patch would essentially leave them disable. Is that a correct
understanding?

No, it is missing the point: currently, language autoconfiguration
is broken even for complete translations: even if you have a
french-installed Debian, spyder will by default show an english
interface, even if the french translation *is* complete. That is because
of a bug that is fixed by

https://github.com/spyder-ide/spyder/pull/21451/commits/7daea2051fbd28c9bf60523423366e96d68d660a

but rather than backporting that codechange which might uncover
who-knows-what bug, better apply the language list update patch:

https://github.com/spyder-ide/spyder/pull/21451/commits/28c12114299d8da8e58ee150cf1f7af1e0fd75b4

which happens to avoid the bug and let language autoconfiguration
actually work (for those languages which are not disabled due to
incompleteness).

Bug#1054630: dgit - cant import llvm-toolchain-15.

2023-10-28 Thread Ian Jackson
Peter Green writes ("Bug#1054630: dgit - cant import llvm-toolchain-15."):
> Correct me if I'm wrong here, but doesn't the import process
> only use information from the topmost changelog entry.

I'm investigsting now. The faulty changelog entry indeed isn't the
topmost one. However, dgit needs to use the changelog entry
corresponding to the (first) import of that upstream version, for its
synthetic commits representing the .origs.

(dgit tries to make these stable, as that improves the synthetic git
commit structure.)

I think the best thing is to use dummy data for the authorship, and
the date of the last non-broken changelog entry before the one it
wants. But perhaps that's too complicated and dgit should just use
today's data and dummy authorship if any of this archaeology fails.

I'll work on some kind of fix.

Ian.

Now that 11.8 has happened, I've uploaded this to stable-NEW. (Sorry for
the delay, there was some confusion on my part over whether the security
team wanted different changelog wording, but it seems they are now happy
with the version I proposed.)

> [ Tests ]

I built an amd64 netboot-gtk image with this glib2.0's udeb included
(using steps similar to #1050868 and #1025708) and was able to install
a Plasma desktop successfully.

As mentioned previously, for those who cannot access stable-NEW, a
test-build that differs only in its changelog and version number can be
downloaded from: https://people.debian.org/~smcv/11.9/pool/main/g/glib2.0/
(built from commit f23101922 and mentioning that commit ID in its
version number). Testing by bullseye users would be appreciated, I don't
routinely run bullseye on my own systems any more.

The version I uploaded to stable-NEW is functionally equivalent to commit
f23101922, with the only difference being `dch -r`.

Thanks,
smcv
