Bug#295817: turck-mmcache: is not loaded - config files are wrong
Package: turck-mmcache Version: 2.4.6-9 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Hello ! 3 problems with newest package: - postinst script tests and writes wrong mmcache.so paths It writes /usr/lib/php4/20020429/mmcache.so instead of /usr/lib/php4/20020429-zts/mmcache.so = it should be based on /usr/bin/php-config --extension-dir as written in a comment at the beginning. - even with the correct path, zend_extension option doesn't work at all. I changed it to a simple PHP extension i.e. extension=mmcache.so, and it works. And now, no more problem with the real path of the .so file. (so, first problem also gone away :-) - postinst writes config in /etc/php4/apache and /etc/php4/cgi but it exists also client line PHP which uses /etc/php4/cli (not cgi) and apache2 which uses /etc/php4/apache2. (I think you should really write a separate file -or a variable?- with mmcache config lines to append it easily to all /etc/php4 config files) And obviously, many thanks for the work! I'm going ahead and reporting this to have it recorded somewhere.] From the description of bluez-bcm203x: Firmware loader for Broadcom 203x based Bluetooth devices This package contains a firmware loader for users of the 2.4 Linux kernel and Broadcom 203x based Bluetooth devices. From debian/copyright of the non-free bluez-firmware package, which contains the firmware this package can load: The BlueZ project has permission from Broadcom Corporation to distribute this firmware in conjunction with the BlueZ GPLd tools, available in Debian as bluez-utils, as long as the notice contained in /usr/share/doc/bluez-firmware/BCM-LEGAL.txt accompanies the firmware. This arrangement was made with BlueZ author Max Krasnyansky [EMAIL PROTECTED]. This raises many issues: * Since bluez-bcm203x seems to exist only to load this non-free firmware, it should have a Depends: bluez-firmware rather than Suggests: bluez-firmware. * For the same reason, the bluez-bcm203x package should be moved to contrib. * The indicated grant of permission to distribute requires that the distribution be in conjunction with the BlueZ GPLd tools, available in Debian as bluez-utils. Given that non-free isn't part of Debian, it seems difficult to argue that the bluez-firmware package in non-free is being distributed in conjunction with the blues-utils package in main, or even a bluez-bcm203x package in contrib. - Josh Triplett --enigFA85F3702B86EE08D4BEAC53 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=signature.asc -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.2.5 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Debian - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFB/9dcGJuZRtD+evsRAteWAKCC1XA5pSgMNwJkAPMI/sHIb7OGNQCcCfMW n7OdVC/iD7ABLLrlCxw9ujg= =7Neh -END PGP SIGNATURE- --enigFA85F3702B86EE08D4BEAC53-- --- Received: (at 293210-done) by bugs.debian.org; 18 Feb 2005 13:05:08 + From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Feb 18 05:05:08 2005 Return-path: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Received: from dsl093-039-086.pdx1.dsl.speakeasy.net (localhost.localdomain) [66.93.39.86] by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1D27oi-0005Rh-00; Fri, 18 Feb 2005 05:05:08 -0800 Received: by localhost.localdomain (Postfix, from userid 1000) id

Bug#295843: Installing libarts1-xine turns off the sound
Hi, I'm not really convinced this is a serious bug, but rather an configuration error, since libarts1-xine is installed by a very large user base (including me) via kdemultimedia metapackage, and nobody else has complained so far... And what have selected as output device in kcontrol. Do the mixer setting (using alsamixer) look different when using a libarts1-xine session than a working session? Bug#294895: Patch for a2ps
Richard Lewis [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: When doing a apt-get dist-upgrade (from version 1:4.13b-4) I got the following error dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of a2ps: a2ps depends on emacsen-common; however: Package emacsen-common is not configured yet. dpkg: error processing a2ps (--configure): dependency problems - leaving unconfigured re-running apt-get dist-upgrade fixed things. emacsen-common was upgraded from 1.4.15 - 1.4.16 Richard, do you remember any error messages prior to this? The most likely cause for this error is that dpkg tried to configure emacsen-common first (as dictated by the declared dependencies), but failed for some reason. Rodrigo Tadeu Claro [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I am sending patch for its package. I wait that this decides the BUG and that this package is in sarge. The archive control was modified by understanding that in this case pre-depends cannot be applied. I made the installation and removal of the package and got success. Success only because you accidently had emacsen-common installed. It is used in a2ps' postinst script, and therefore it must be installed and set up before this postinst script is run. Therefore a2ps needs a Depends: emacsen-common. But in fact there is no need for a Pre-depends - it doesn't even have a preinst file, and I have no idea how it could hamper the ability of the system to continue with any upgrade, as Policy says. Bug#275668: Suggest to remove from Sarge
Hello Helge, I apologize for the delay in getting to this bug. Two things have been holding up a fix to this. First, four of my five alpha machines are currently inoperable, so I'm having a hard time maintaining these packages. Second, I have been awaiting a reply from Compaq/HP contacts on whether/when we might get permission to distribute the libraries with the Debian packages (putting them in non-free), and the encrypted compilers too, removing the need to download either one. Since it's been several months now, and I've bugged them a couple of times, I think it's time to give up on pursuing that. I'll see if I have time to upload a fix in the next week or two, and if not, will concur with your recommendation to remove these packages. On Sat, 2005-02-12 at 16:10 +0100, Helge Kreutzmann wrote: Hello, given that this package is currently not able to install the non-free ccc compiler, that gcc is available and improving while ccc is essentially dead upstream and that the number of people doing serious number crunching on alpha is (unfortunately) strongly decreasing I suggest removing this package from sarge. Bug#295774: daapd to become non-free(?)
I would much rather have the daapd package follow libhowl and mdnsresponder to non-free, if that is really necessary, than leave it in main with the zeroconf support hacked out. I know it is technically possible to run daapd and publish the service yourself without zeroconf, but it's far less useful that way. But, I am not a Debian developer yet and I don't know how to do this. Should I just ask my sponsor to upload the next revision to non-free? Thanks.. Bug#276800: erlang: Segmentation fault trying to run erl
Building the erlang package after changing debian/rules to have the following snippet makes erl startup segfaults go away when tested with a plain erl and by running wings3d. # ifeq ($(MACHINE), i586) # HIPE=--enable-hipe # endif HIPE=--disable-hipe Based on this, unless someone can come up with a real fix, disabling hipe for sarge is probably the best option for proceeding. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#295010: NMU patch for aspell-fi
Here's my NMU patch of to rebuild aspell-fi for Aspell 0.60. Note that I changed the aspell-fi Arch: field to any, since compiled Aspell dictionaries are not arch-independent. Also, installdeb-myspell uses debhelper, so you should call dh_clean in your clean target. Otherwise some auto-generated files get left behind. I didn't change this in the NMU though. -- Society is never going to make any progress until we all learn to pretend to like each other. diff -u ispell-fi-0.7/debian/changelog ispell-fi-0.7/debian/changelog --- ispell-fi-0.7/debian/changelog +++ ispell-fi-0.7/debian/changelog @@ -1,3 +1,15 @@ +ispell-fi (0.7-14.1) unstable; urgency=low + + * Non-maintainer upload + * debian/control: change aspell-fi back to Arch: any.
