It would seem that you need to modify your build-dependency on
libgconf2-dev to specify at least that version.

However, this is an error in a version of the package that no longer exists
in the Debian archive. It is therefore not release-critical.

It would be reasonable for frozen-bubble-data to provide a postrm script
which handles the 'failed-upgrade' case from 1.0.0-6 in order to fix this
bug.

As I'm not sure if lintian is really wrong here so I go for 1).
I've just uploaded a fixed version, thanks for reporting.

I'm certain that Lintian is wrong, after all you're not using Debconf
in your postinst script (no call to db_* there), only in the config
script. But it doesn't matter that much, using db_stop works fixes
the problem just fine. Thanks for uploading a fixed package so

Hi!

The maintainer of libdbd-sqlite-perl asked for its removal in #305604. Your
package does build-time tests using this module, so would fail to build once
this removal is propagated.

Two newer versions of the sqlite perl module are available, I suggest you use
either of those instead.

By the way, kudo's for doing build-time tests, they are IMHO an important way
of doing good QA on your package. (Just curious, why are not failing the build
if the tests fail?)

Thanks you,

I've downgraded the severity to important, as the package isn't
unusable; I use it to backup 100 servers (1 TB) every day... a bug
which has a major effect on the usability of a package, without
rendering it completely unusable to everyone. sounds more apropriate.

I've forwarded the message to the mailing list, the upstream author is

Bug#306324: Postinst never finishes in 0.98.3-2

* Steve Langasek

Ugh, this comment in the bug log tipped me off that something was wrong...
and sure enough, what do I find when looking at the package but debconf note
abuse. Christian, please use NEWS.Debian for this, that's what it was
created for -- and this is *not* what debconf notes were created for. :/

Agreed. I never saw what Debconf was used for because I don't
generally bother with the low-priority ones, but reading it now it
seems pretty useless. NEWS.Debian would be a much better place for
it, or even nowhere at all - Quagga wasn't included in Woody so it
should /certainly/ not be displayed upon initial installations of
 Sarge.

By being rather conservative about what we use Debconf for we may
still be able to present Debconf to our users as something useful (as
opposed to noise / superfluous chitchat).

For the record, the lintian error is *not* wrong. Unless the postinst
sources the debconf confmodule, a config script will never be run when
installing the package using dpkg (which is still valid and expected to
work, even though apt is now the norm).

Oh my, and here I thought I knew everything. I was certain that dpkg
itself took care of running the config script if apt-extracttemplates
or whatever hadn't already. I guess I still learn something new every
 day. :-)

By the way, Steve, I saw you add the sid tag explicitly. That
puzzled me as I'm fairly sure I (tried to) add the sid tag when I
submitted the bug, precisely to prevent it from bothering the probably
already overworked Release Managers. Did I mess it up? Perhaps I'm
overlooking something, but my report seem perfectly OK to me so I have
 no idea what happened.

From what I can tell, this bug is caused by cal3d's debian/rules having way
too tight bindings to the specific filenames output by one particular
version of doxygen. The resulting docs/api/html directory is full of files,
they just don't all match the names of those created by previous versions of

No, you had the tags right, it's just that some mornings I don't make it all

says tag it ;) Maybe I need to figure out how to add a procmail filter to

Bug#306393: logjam: segmentation fault with datesel

2005-04-26 Thread JackLyn Crawford
Subject: logjam: Segfaults on startup
Package: logjam
Version: 4.4.1-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Logjam segfaults when View-Entry Date is selected or when an
entry that has a date is loaded. I had no problems during my
last entry on 4-20-05 but haven't been able to use it since.
The only change I am aware of is the gtk2 upgrade, but even
downgrading those libraries had no effect.

I removed datesel/ from the conf.xml and logjam will function,
just no dates and I can't load any past entries.

Please help. Logjam has become an important part of my life!! :)

Bug#306412: esound link problems or missing dependencies crash gnome-session

2005-04-26 Thread Fionn Behrens
Package: esound
Version: 0.2.35-2
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

When trying to start, esd only gives the following error:

esd: relocation error: esd: undefined symbol: esd_default_options

If esd was installed while running a gnome session, then gnome-session
will try to restart it when you login next time and fail. Unfortunately
it fails in a way that the login process completely stops so the user
cant login to X any more, at least not using gnome-session.
Removing esound from the system doesnt help either because gnome-session
keeps trying to start esd and freeze but thtas probably more a
gnome-session bug.

libconv-ruby1.6 replaces libuconv-ruby.

tdiary-plugin should probably depend on libconv-ruby1.6

Bug#306240: qtstalker: FTBFS: Versioned Build-Depends on virtual package 'libmysqlclient-dev'

2005-04-26 Thread Marco van Zwetselaar
Please change the Build-Depends to 'libmysqlclient12-dev' in
 debian/control.

Or libmysqlclient14-dev, which is the version that upstream
 currently recommends.

I've bumped it to 14 in qtstalker 0.29-2, which I'll upload to
m.d.n in a second. I'll be very grateful to the DD who will pick
it up from there and NMU / sponsor it.[2]

Unfortunately, since I have no ongoing interest in this package,
I'm not really willing to do the work behind sponsoring a new
upstream version of it. If you could prepare a 0.26-4 version
that fixes this particular bug, I'd be happy to sponsor that.

Thanks Steve, I've just uploaded 0.26-5 to m.d.n.. It fixes
this FTBFS and another potential build-related problem.
The diff with 0.26-3 is pretty minimal, so it shouldn't be a
lot of work for you. Thanks for picking this up.

Marco

This bug was fixed via NMU. The fix was incorporated upstream and the

Bug#269152: reduce the bug sevirity

2005-04-26 Thread webmaster
Hi All,

Since there's a workaround, what do you think on reducing the sevirity of
this bug report. This will allow clumus 0.101-2 to get into sarge.

Baruch - maybe a patch can be applied automatically using the postinst
script?

Where did you get this version of gnome-mag? You seem to be severale

upgrade to the current version and see if that fixes your problem?

 Package: slapd

 Justification: breaks unrelated software

A hidden file (probably admin created) in /var/lib/ldap broke the slapd
upgrade when the backed up database was restored. It appears that all
VISIBLE files were removed from this directory as part of the upgrade,
this procedure should be extended to ALL files.

What do you mean by hidden file? Do you mean a dotfile (filename begins
with .)?

Removing the offending file and restarting the slapd install fixed the
 problem.

Since there is obviously a workaround for this problem, and since the
maintainer scripts handle upgrades for normal use cases of /var/lib/ldap
just fine (it is not normal to create extra files in /var/lib/ldap, a
directory owned by the slapd server), I don't believe this bug should be RC.

Bug#306363: snes9express: built for all architectures, but uninstallable on most

2005-04-26 Thread Agney Lopes Roth Ferraz
hi,
the bug is fixed and the package will be uploaded by my sponsor as soon as
possible. I want to know how an if it is necessary to ask ftp-master to
remove the binaries on architectures that does not have snes9x-x.
thanks,

The snes9express package has been built on all release architectures, and
 is
present in testing; however, it depends on snes9x-x, which is only
 available
on i386, m68k, mips, and powerpc. I did try to build snes9x-x on alpha,
 but
the resulting binaries were unusable, so I won't be uploading them...
Please fix the snes9express source package so that it does not get built
 for
architectures where snes9x-x is not available; for instance, adding a
(spurious) build-dependency on snes9x-x would have this effect.

Does this bug apply to new installs of culmus, or only to upgrades? If it
doesn't affect new installs, then it should not be RC since there is no
previous stable version of culmus.

Bug#306240: qtstalker: FTBFS: Versioned Build-Depends on virtual package 'libmysqlclient-dev'

Hi Marco,

I notice that you're using a versioned build-dependency on
libmysqlclient14-dev (= 4.1.11). Is there a reason this build-dep needs to
be versioned?

A minor issue, in any case; the package is building now and should be
uploaded soon.

Cheers,

Eh, this bug is an RC bug about the fact that amule as currently linked in
Debian is not distributable because of a GPL/OpenSSL license conflict. This
is amule's bug, not libcurl's. If you want to file a wishlist bug against

Bug#260808: still experiencing problems with avifile-player?

2005-04-26 Thread Jon Dowland
Hi, on Jul 22 2004 you filed a bug against the avifile-player package in
debian. This report can be found here: http://bugs.debian.org/260808.

It would be very helpful if you could try playing your file again with a
recent version of avifile-player and related programs (X, etc.). A lot
has changed since you originally filed your report. However, your report
is still a serious one and it would be great if the problem had been
resolved.

The latest version of avifile-player in debian is 1:0.7.43.20050224-1.
There have been three releases since you filed the bug.

Yours,

Bug#306411: gnome-mag: doesnt even start

Where did you get this version of gnome-mag? You seem to be severale
versions behind anything that Debian currently ships. Can you please
upgrade to the current version and see if that fixes your problem?

gnome-mag's mainly use is with gnopernicus; it is provided as a
command-line utility to be useable otherwise, but then you need to
specify some options to tell it how to work;

I'd close the bug, but let's make sure: would you mind testing if the
following command works?:

$ magnifier -v -m

Thanks,

Bug#306071: spfmilter: fails to start with a missing shared object error

2005-04-26 Thread Mike Markley
According to upstream, spfmilter does not work with libspf2 1.2.x.
I will test to see if that's out of date, but I will probably end up
having to rebuild against libspf instead, which means missing
functionality (--trustedforwarders and --recipientmx) -- but that's
better than no functionality.

Package: leafnode
Version: 1.11.0.rel-1
Severity: normal

Every time postinst is called (including upgrades), a new entry is added to
/etc/inetd.conf. update-inetd will catch this problem, and ask the
following question:

,-
| Setting up leafnode (1.11.0.rel-1) ...
|
| WARNING!! /etc/inetd.conf contains multiple entries for
| the `nntp' service. You're about to disable these entries.
| Do you want to continue? [n]
`-
Upon answering n (default), you'll be left to deal with the problem
yourself, upon answering y, update-inetd will make sure only one entry is
enabled, leaving older ones disabled. This will cause cruft to accumulate.

The extra configure-time question will also break hands-off
installs/upgrades.

tqsllib = 1.5 contains a bug that causes generation of corrupt .p12 files
on systems using openssl 0.9.7 (Debian testing and unstable have version
0.9.7e-3). Source code for version 2.0, as well as the latest (1.11)
version of the companion trustedqsl is available at

Package: webmin-bind
Version: 1.180-3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Version 1.180-3 in testing of webmin bind has not renamed the bind8-lib.pl in
/usr/share/webmin/bind. It is still called as above. that means webmin
returns an error message that is could not find bind-lib.pl a rename of
file of symlink fixes the problem. But a file rename on a part of a
package is not for the average joe. So IMO this breaks webmin bind for
most users.

The wrong config was being installed. I fixed that in -4 (which Iuploaded
earlier
today.) The bind problem was fixed too. After installing -4, can you
check if bug #259708 is also fixed? It's been open a long time but I
don't use sendmail myself so I can't check.

Package: stklos
Version: 0.55-0.1
Severity: serious

In 9 different architectures, including i386, this package contains
files /usr/share/info/dir.gz and /usr/share/info/dir.old.gz.

This is due to an automake bug which is now fixed (see Bug #214769).

If two packages with this bug reach testing it will be a complete
disaster, I'm trying to avoid that by submitting serious bugs against
all of them.

(I'm Cc:ing Matthias, who did this NMU, hope the X-Debian-Cc works).

I'll take a look at this as soon as possible - That will not be,

Thanks a lot.
