Bug#334124: aime: Still fails to build

2005-10-24 Thread John Wright
Strange, it builds fine for me on both ia64 and x86 with this patch.

This looks suspiciously like bug #292953. I've been working on version
0.60.3-7.1, which includes (most of) a patch submitted to that bug. For
some reason, although that patch includes the change that I submitted
above, it was left out in the NMU. Does it not build on other
architectures than x86 and ia64?

John

Subject: FTBFS on arm/hppa/m68k with ICE, please use gcc-3.4 there
Package: monotone
Version: 0.23-1
Severity: serious

monotone suffers from a very usual GCC 4.0 ICE on arm (and probably
hppa and m68k, but they didn't reach this point yet).
Please try to use gcc-3.4 on these architectures to work around it.

See http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/09/msg00020.html
for more information.

2005-10-24 Thread Steve Langasek
Hi Dirk,

This bug requires a sourceful upload, because it involves changes to
debian/rules. Is there any chance of this happening soon? This bug is the
only thing holding up the lam/mpich transition now.

Cheers,

Strange. Upgrading from 3.0-9 to 3.0-10 works fine here in a clean
pbuilder w/ or w/o jadetex installed. Of course, there might be other
interactions with TeX related packages that ypu have installed. What
packages that depend on one of the tetex packages do you have installed?

It seems to be limited to docbook-utils and jadetex

Are you sure that there are errors, or just error messages? At least
for jadetex I know that there is indeed some TeX output on stdout that
should rather go to stderr (and thus in a temporary file).

Bug#323099: wget GFDL documentation

2005-10-24 Thread Noèl Köthe
Hello,

FYI:

I'm waiting for GFDL 1.3 to see if its still DFSG non-free because wget
would loose all documentation (info and manpage) and a new one have to
be written from the wget --help output which would be a bad solution
for Debian users.

Certainly. Anything that can help to solve this quickly.

It's still not tracing child processes. strace -f dovecot should do
that.. But there's an alternative way to strace only the login process
by changing config file:

login_chroot = no
...
login_executable = /usr/bin/strace -o /tmp/strace.log
/usr/lib/dovecot/imap-login

(and check that the imap-login path is right, I don't know where Debian
package puts it)

they're not already there?

changed for this release and the map file `dvips35.map' has
not been found in the right location, but in the obsolete
 location
   /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/dvips35.map
 instead.

There is a compatibility symlink from /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config to
/etc/texmf/dvips, this is intended. However, there should be no file
dvips35.map in that directory. The file should be found as

/usr/share/texmf/fonts/map/dvips/tetex/dvips35.map

*first*, i.e. this file should be used even if a copy exists in
/etc/texmf/dvips..

The file dvips35.map from current tetex-base is in fact stored in
/etc/texmf/map/dvips/tetex/dvips35.map and made available with a symlink

/usr/share/texmf/fonts/map/dvips - /etc/texmf/map/dvips

This symlink exists on your system, as you have shown earlier; but I
don't know whether the file is there. If it is there, the question is
whether it does not take precedence over the one in /etc/texmf/dvips,
and after all why that file exists in /etc/texmf/dvips, anyway.

I think the answer to the last question might be that it once was there
(in a version in sarge/sid when sarge was still testing), and has been
forgotten from the list in README.Debian - in fact it is listed in the
remove-oldmaps script.

The answer to the first question - why is the wrong file found - is
unclear to me. Sebastien, what is the output of the following commands:

kpsewhich --format=map dvips35.map
kpsewhere --format=map dvips35.map
kpsewhere dvips35.map
kpsewhich --show-path map

grep ^TEXFONTMAPS /etc/texmf/texmf.cnf
grep ^TEXFONTMAPS /etc/texmf/texmf.d/*

Package: xpostit

Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

If I create a note, write some stuff, select Hide All Notes
then the Show All Note function does not make them to appear
again (they are basically lost if unsaved). The only way to make
them to appear again is to save them, exit xpostit and re-open
it.

The same if I use Left Mouse Button + CTRL key.

I run Debian GNU/Linux Testing. My courier IMAP SSL system was
working fine. I upgraded this morning 2005-10-24 and now for every
attempted connection, I get:

upgrade of libssl but...

In any event it completely stops the installation working.

the perl-script /usr/bin/backup-manager-upload corrupts the uploaded

or does this require a -2 version and a rebuild everywhere else too?

If you touch the package source, it must be rebuilt on all architectures.
Both of the alternatives -- carrying around redundant sources, or having
binaries in the archive without corresponding sources -- are worse than the
impact of having to rebuild a package on all architectures.

that means, that pysvn's build-deps cannot be installed

 libdb4.2-dev or libdb4.3-dev.

They should depend on libdb4.3-dev (and build against libdb4.3). I'm
committing changes to pkg-subversion right now to fix up libsvn0 and
friends to switch over to db4.3... With any luck, we can rid our systems
of db4.2 sometime in the next 6 months. :/

Bug#335271: postfix: TLS library fails to load libz.so (makes certificates unusable)

It appears there is no libz.so file available:

 $ dpkg -S libz.so

 zlib1g: /usr/lib/libz.so.1.2.3

 $ dpkg -l zlib1g | grep zlib1g
 ii zlib1g 1.2.3-4compression library - runtime

A workaround is to make a symlink:

 $ ln -s /usr/lib/libz.so.1 /usr/lib/libz.so

This is an error message from libssl0.9.8, but it doesn't make any sense to
me. Please post your postfix config, so we can understand where this
request for libz is coming from.

FWIW, I get a completely different error when trying to set up TLS for
postfix, but I'm not sure that it isn't user error on my part.

Cheers,

Bug#335539: nvidia-glx-dev: version is not strict enough

2005-10-24 Thread Adam Majer
Package: nvidia-glx-dev
Version: 1.0.7174-4
Severity: serious

Depends has,

nvidia-glx (= 1.0.7174)

But this is not correct. I have nvidia-glx-dev from Sid and nvidia-glx
from experimental which results in,

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 2005-07-20 21:59 /usr/lib/libGL.so -
libGL.so.1.0.7174
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 2005-08-05 16:23 /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 -
libGL.so.1.0.7667
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 515012 2005-07-18 18:58 /usr/lib/libGL.so.1.0.7667

Stricter depends is needed. For example,

Depends: nvidia-glx (1.0.7174)
Conflicts: nvidia-glx (1.0.7175)

or just depend on the exact version of the non-dev package.

- Adam

PS. You don't need the = in the version since 1.0.7174-1 1.0.7174

Bug#263252: gnome-iconedit: links to older libpng2 package

2005-10-24 Thread Carlo Segre

Tags: patch

I have attached a patch to change the build dependencies to packages
currently in sid. In addition, there is another patch which fixes a
problem with the source package which prevents building the package twice
in a row. The problem is that the original tarball was not made from a
distclean source tree and there is a subdirectory which contains some
binary files which are automatically generated upon build. One of these
files, po/ru.gmo is not in the original tarball (all the other ones are)
and when one tries to build the package again, there is an unrepresentable
change to the source. I fixed this by forcing the removal of this ru.gmo
file in debian/rules. This is a workaround for the source tarball not
being properly made and it may need to change when the next tarball is
released.

Bug#322646: FTBFS: Undeclared OpenGL symbols

2005-10-24 Thread Carlo Segre

Tags: patch

It seems that some symbols in /usr/include/gl.h have been removed but were
expected in this package. I have attached a patch to ignore them in the
package source if they are undefined in the headers. This has been done
for previous patches. In addition, the package needs to have an updated
Standards Version and some of the build dependencies were out of date with
the X.org transition and the freeglut3 package. These changes are
included as well. It may be that this package has been orphaned upstream
and it may not support the latest OpenGL standards.

Package: r-base
Severity: important

r-base is currently failing to build on hppa. The tail end of the build
log is:

  make.packages.htmlhtmllatex
  nsl htmllatex
make[6]: Leaving directory `/build/buildd/r-base-2.2.0.final/src/library'

make[4]: *** [test-Examples-Base] Error 1
Build killed with signal 15 after 150 minutes of inactivity

Apparently either something about the package or something about the
buildd is causing the build to hang or take much too long at this point.

Could you investigate this? rmpi is blocked on r-base, and rmpi is part
of the mpich/lam/hdf5 portion of the C++ migration.

Thanks!

Bug#333835: ctrlproxy: Eats up memory making the system unusable

2005-10-24 Thread Faidon Liambotis
upstream's SVN log shows several bugfixes, including memory leak fixes.
An update to the latest version will probably fix these problems.

Moreover, I highly doubt that memory leak bugs are justified as severity
critical.
This looks as severity inflation to me, but I'll leave the maintainer to
judge that.

Regards,
Faidon

 Hello,

samba 3.0.20b (in sid) which should fix this problem.
But its still a security problem in sarge if I'm not wrong.

Hi, (excuse my corrupted english :P )

I've tried the 3.0.20b-SerNet-Debian without the expected results. I
also openned an error in bugzilla.samba.org

but for the moment the problem continues.
If you have time to waste and guide me i will be pleased to try tracing

This bug affects only sarge, packages in testing/unstable are not
affected.

Moreover, it onnly affects people who use the upload system with FTP,
which is not the default case.

That's why I reduce the severity of the bug to important (a bug which
has a major effect on the usability of a package, without rendering it
completely unusable to everyone).

Regards.

Is there any problem with using a directory within the build directory
instead of moving them into the small /tmp?

Hi Daniel,

thank you very much for your NMU. I'm quite busy these days so I
really appreciate this. Please proceed as you feel like.

Cheers,

Bug#335570: java-gcj-compat: Missing dependency - renders package unusable

2005-10-24 Thread Wolfgang Baer
Package: java-gcj-compat
Version: 1.0.41-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

trying /usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj/bin/java gives me:

error spawning gij

Running with strace shows that the java binary assumes an
unversioned gij binary in /usr/bin

execve(/usr/bin/gij, [./java], [/* 39 vars */]) = -1 ENOENT (No such
file or directory)

However java-gcj-compat only depends on gij-4.0 and not on the
/usr/bin/gij providing gij package.

Of course installing gij fixes the problem. So either the java
binary should be patched to look for /usr/bin/gij-4.0 or the
dependency should be updated to gij instead of gij-4.0

Regards,
Wolfgang

Bug#323556: Intention to NMU

2005-10-24 Thread Carlo Segre

Luk Claes writes:

Attached the patch for the version I intend to upload. Please respond if
you don't want this NMU to happen, if you are working yourself on a
patch or if you think that the attached patch won't work.

I ran into a problem subtle problem with this. There is also a
python-wxgtk2.6 package in unstable and it does NOT conflict with the 2.4
version. When both are installed, 2.6 takes precedence by default
(update-alternatives --list wx.pth) and bittorrent-gui has a syntax error
which was legal in 2.4 but not acceptable in 2.6.

The problem is that tuples are required to be enclosed in parentheses and
they are not so in the calls to Sizers.

One solution would be to make bittorrent-gui conflict with python-wxgtk2.6
but since the cause is python syntax sloppiness, I suggest that the
program be corrected to work with either 2.4 or 2.6. Once this is done,
the correct dependency for bittorrent-gui should be

 python-wxgtk2.4 | python-wxgtk2.6

I also suggest that the patch be submitted upstream.

Bug#335303: tetex-bin: failed to install: updmap error

This is bad, (Ralf, you were right), and this

 % grep ^TEXFONTMAPS /etc/texmf/texmf.cnf
 TEXFONTMAPS = .;$TEXMF/fontname
 % grep ^TEXFONTMAPS /etc/texmf/texmf.d/*
 /etc/texmf/texmf.d/55Fonts.cnf:TEXFONTMAPS =
 .;$TEXMF/{fonts/map,}/{$progname,pdftex,dvips,}//;$TEXMF/dvips//

shows that it must have happened like this: You had some local
modifications in /etc/texmf/texmf.cnf, but this file is in principle a
generated file, from the files in /etc/texmf/texmf.d. When a new
package (probably the first 3.0 package you installed) provided a
changed 55Fonts.cnf, it tried to generate texmf.cnf but noticed the
mismatch between the version that would have been generated from the old
file 55Fonts.cnf and the actual texmf.cnf (the difference can be
anywhere, not only in the part from 55Fonts.cnf). It asked you about
the change, and you refused to accept the maintainer's new version.

So this is not a bug, but a local misconfiguration. In order to fix
your system, I think the best way is to do the following:

- copy /etc/texmf/texmf.cnf to a safe place

- Add a file /etc/texmf/texmf.d/99local.cnf which contains an arbitrary
comment (a line starting with %).

- as root, run update-texmf, and when asked about the changed files,
choose to accept the maintainer's version.

This should give you a working system. However, you lost any local
configurations, they are saved in the copy of texmf.cnf. In case you
want to keep all or some of them, run a diff between the copy and the
newly generated texmf.cnf, find out to which file in /etc/texmf/texmf.d/
the difference correspond(s), and then *edit*the*files*in*texmf.d*. Do
not edit texmf.cnf directly! After that, you can remove the 99local.cnf
file, and run update-texmf again.

If you have doubts whether any of the local changes are still useful,
feel free to ask here.

Bug#335510: fails to start

2005-10-24 Thread Julien Lemoine

Hello Delian,

In my opinion this is not a problem of stunnel4. The version is
simply linked with openssl 0.9.8 instead
of 0.9.7. So if there is a problem, it is probably with libssl and not
stunnel4.

I reproduced your problem by putting the same file for cert and key
filename.

Stunnel4 works fine with separation of cert and key files :
Extract of configuration :
cert = /etc/stunnel/cert.pem
key = /etc/stunnel/key.pem

Log :
2005.10.24 19:07:23 LOG5[15299:16384]: stunnel 4.11 on i486-pc-linux-gnu
PTHREAD+POLL+IPv6+LIBWRAP with OpenSSL 0.9.8a 11 Oct 2005

2005.10.24 19:07:23 LOG5[15299:16384]: 500 clients allowed

So I think libssl 0.9.8 does not accept any more cert and key file
merged in the same file.

Best Regards.

I run Debian GNU/Linux Testing. My courier IMAP SSL system was
working fine. I upgraded this morning 2005-10-24 and now for every
attempted connection, I get:

Oct 24 12:26:44 dimen imapd-ssl: couriertls: /etc/courier/imapd.pem:
error:25066067:DSO support routines:DLFCN_LOAD:could not load the

I am hoping that this is just a dependency problem relating to the
upgrade of libssl but...

In any event it completely stops the installation working.

This in fact a problem with courier-ssl, already reported. Presumably
it is caused by libssl0.9.7 / libssl0.9.8 transition.

Can you assure that current CVS works with gnumed-client 0.1?
If not can you provide a patch?

if you want to help, you may recompile the package yourself, by
following these steps:

as root:
- install build-dependencies:

  libreadline4-dev
  bison
- put the relevant deb-src lines in your /etc/apt/sources.list
deb-src http://ftp.debian.org/debian etch main
deb-src http://security.debian.org etch/updates main
  and apt-get update

as a regular user (not root):
- cd /tmp/ ; apt-get source chrony ; cd chrony-1.20
- build with
  DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nostrip dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -b

- install the package you just made (it's in /tmp), and rerun gdb.

problem ?

# ln -s libz.so.1 libz.so

That's a bit easier and appears to fix it.

Yes, I reproduced this behaviour with a sarge backport of
openssl+courier.

Can you please check if installing zlib1g-dev on your system fixes this
problem ?

# ln -s libz.so.1 libz.so

That's a bit easier and appears to fix it.

Sure, but this can't be done by the courier-ssl package.

It's just a work around anyway.
Whatever is looking for libz.so should probably be looking for libz.so.1
or libz should provide the symlink.
