Er... yes, this seems to revert the library name change introduced in
0.7-9.1. Given that exiv2 only exists in testing and unstable, not in
stable, this is not a release-critical bug so long as we're sure that all
related packages are correctly rebuilt against the new ABI; so I'm
downgrading and untagging the bug.

Attached a dirty patch that takes care of this last kind of warnings and
   includes your last xlibs-dev changes,

Attached a modified version that should also take care of warnings like

  W: ivtools-dev: manpage-section-mismatch usr/X11R6/man/man3/Banner.3.gz:1 3
  != 3I

and friends by using dh_installman. This greatly decreases lintian warnings,
but still does not deal with the real RC bugreports.

 Hi,

Thanks for all the work you are putting into the package. I know its in
a terrible state, Actually what should be done is to repackage it instead
of trying to fix the old packaging. Anyhow, I am thankful for every kind of
help with it. Should I apply your patches and reupload or are you going
 to do an NMU ?

Hi Guenter,

I should have changed the subject, Amaya was the person that did the
original IT-NMU, and I kept the Re: Bug#346695: Intend to NMU ivtools
intact, without making clear that I was just adding additional info for her
or for whoever wanted to upload the package, not meaning that I intended
to NMU the package. ivtools is largely beyond my skills (My C++ skills
are null) and, while my changes are only related to packaging, I prefer if
such an NMU (or normal upload) is carried out by somebody knowing better
the package.

So, feel free to apply changes and reupload yourself as you find convenient.

Thanks for the work you have put into ivtools, idraw is still a very useful
tool for me.

Trying to open a vcg file causes a segfault. I tried to build an
unstripped version but somehow the complex build system always
strippes them. I finally found an unstripped version within the source
directory but the gdb output is not very informative:

I've thought a little about this, and I found the severty slightly
inflated: I wouldn't consider Galeon unreleasable with this bug (and
you even provided a workaround ;).

Bug#355855: Putting the internal database in /var/cache/roxen4 violates the FHS

2006-03-08 Thread Magnus Holmgren
Package: roxen4
Version: 4.0.325-6
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 9.1.1

Even if the local database only contains cached data, the roxen database
and any user-defined
databases don't. Therefore the FHS, which states that [t]he application must
be able to regenerate or
restore the data, is violated. I think it would be better to put everything
under /var/lib instead,
possibly making /var/lib/roxen4/local a symlink to /var/cache/roxen4/local.
$pcdir could also be left
where it is now, if possible.

Ok, I did a little more digging, and it looks like the missing symbol may
actually belong to libdc0 rather than to valknut itself. Could you make
sure you have libdc0 version 0.3.7-2 installed?

Package: octave-plplot
Version: 5.3.1-8
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I have been trying to get plplot to work in Octave 2.1, but every time I try to
use it, it causes Octave to crash. Here is an example:

radar:~ octave
1:~ LOADPATH = /usr/share/plplot_octave//:/usr/share/octave//:
LOADPATH = /usr/share/plplot_octave//:/usr/share/octave//:
2:~ toggle_plplot_use
Use PLplot: on
3:~ plot(sin(1:10),'-o')
*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0x0a3e2218 ***
panic: Aborted -- stopping myself...
Aborted
radar:~

Unfortunately, I really don't know what this means, or how to debug it. I would
be more than willing to help figure it out if anyone can give me some
suggestions to try. The commands I used are straight from the setup
documentation for Debian included with the package (although I must admit that
they were a little confusing because they don't state explicitly what the paths
are that need to be loaded.

Please let me know how I can help, and thanks for maintaining.

jamie.

amd64 is not a supported architecture for sarge, and there's not much I
can do to get a fix in for this. Could I suggest you leave the evils of
apache 1.3 behind and give apache2 a spin instead?

This bug has already been fixed in etch and sid, by the way.

Bug#355686: valknut: Crashes on startup because of undefined symbol (still present)

2006-03-08 Thread Florian Boelstler

Steve Langasek wrote:
Ok, I did a little more digging, and it looks like the missing symbol may
actually belong to libdc0 rather than to valknut itself. Could you make
sure you have libdc0 version 0.3.7-2 installed?

libdc0 (0.3.7-2) is installed. I also reinstalled it. Same result.

Thanks for your help.

 Justification: renders package unusable

  Hogwash.

The package installs without libwww-perl that is needed for
apache_volume plugin. Without it you get error
Can't locate object method new via package LWP::UserAgent at
 /etc/munin/plugins/apache_processes line 134.

Which is why libwww-perl is _suggested_ by munin-node. The Apache
plugins are optional, and are pretty useless if Apache isn't present.
It would be wrong to force everyone to install libwww-perl, merely
because munin-node _may_ utilize it. Should it depend on Apache, too?
Or perhaps Sybase? Postfix? (Don't bother answering.)

I'm closing this bug report, as it is completely bogus.

Bug#347663: sfs-common: failure to remove, trying to deregister inexistent document

2006-03-08 Thread Lars Wirzenius
Yann Dirson [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
 Removing sfs-common ...
/usr/share/doc-base/sfs-manual: cannot open control file for reading: No such
 file or directory
 dpkg: error processing sfs-common (--remove):

I can't actually reproduce this properly: I get the following error message:

 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/# dpkg --purge sfs-common

 Removing sfs-common ...
Document `sfs-manual' is not installed, cannot remove.
Purging configuration files for sfs-common ...

In other words, the error message is different, and the removal doesn't crash
on it.
I don't know what causes this.

Still, the attached patch should fix it. I'm hesitant to actually do an NMU
before I can
reproduce. Jaakko, do you have a comment?

Bug#355436: More info, please

2006-03-08 Thread Thomas Hood
In report #355436 we will deal with the claim that upgrading the initscripts
package caused files in /tmp to be deleted. I have set the severity level
to critical on the assumption that this actually occurred and that it
occurred during upgrade. Please let us know whether or not this assumption
is correct.

Bug#354916: python2.3-sqlobject not installable in unstable (missing formencode)

2006-03-08 Thread Gustavo Franco

Hi Fabio,

Do you know if the python-formencode dependency was introduced in 0.7 ? I'm
asking because 0.6 works well without this in ubuntu.

Considering that python-formencode is a requirement starting with the 0.7
release and we can't upload it yet, if it will take too much time, i think
you should revert back to 0.6 for a while. The rationale is that a 'old' 0.6
installable is better than a 0.7 uninstallable. Comments?

Thanks,
Gustavo Franco - [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#355947: python-pyopenssl: Segmentation fault when creating x509 extension

2006-03-08 Thread Zsolt Cserna
Package: python-pyopenssl
Version: 0.6-2
Severity: grave

Justification: renders package unusable

When I want to create x509 extensions, I get segmentation fault.
The python code which do this is the following:

from OpenSSL import crypto
crypto.X509Extension(basicConstraints, True, CA:TRUE)

There is a patch on this URL:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=1166109group_id=31249atid=401760
I attached the patch to this email.

This patch is _not_ made by me. I applied this patch to the original package
and it seems to work fine.

Bug#355439: gcc-4.0-base: Debian changelog and copyright lost after upgrade

2006-03-08 Thread Matthias Klose
Sven Joachim writes:
At the moment I don't see how you're going to accomplish that,
since there is the danger that upgrading from version 4.0.2-9
will delete the copyright/changelog files (then living in
/usr/share/doc/gcc-4.1-base !) the same way as they did it for me.
But maybe some magic in the preinst scripts can avoid that.

Please check the packages at

  deb http://people.debian.org/~doko/gcc-4.0 ./

Thanks, Matthias

Justification: Policy 3.5

When closing PPTP connections, kvpnc invokes the command killall -3 pptp.
From looking at the source code, it
seems that other connection types also use killall.

killall is included in the psmisc package, which is not listed in the
dependency information.

---BeginMessage---
Package: mctools-lite
Version: 970129-15
Severity: serious

Hello,

This is a serious bug filed against your package because it
build-depends on xlibs-dev, which as announced in [1] a while ago, is
no longer available in sid. This makes your package fail to build from
  source.

[1] http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/11/msg00022.html

To fix this bug, you need to update your build-dependencies and
substitute xlibs-dev for the list of individual X development
libraries that your package needs to be built. You can find detailed
information about how to do that in the DependsXlibsDev wiki page [2].

[2] http://wiki.debian.org/DependsXlibsDev

As indicated by the Release Team [3], the full transition from XFree86
to Xorg is a release blocker for Etch, which means that Etch will not
be released until this bug is fixed (or your package removed from
testing). So, please, try to fix in a timely manner.

[3] http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/10/msg4.html

The number of affected packages by the xlibs-dev transition is huge,
so if you feel like helping with patches or uploads, feel free to
follow the instructions contained in the wiki page above. A list of
affected packages can be found here [4].

[4] http://people.debian.org/~adeodato/release-usertag/transition-xlibs-dev

Finally, if there's a strong reason for which your package should not
be NMUed, please note so in this bug report. Prospective NMUers will
read your reasoning, and will decide if it's strong enough to delay
  their upload.

  Thanks for your collaboration!

Would it be possible for you to apply a patch and rebuild the package as a

Bug#355075: Patch

2006-03-08 Thread Matt Kraai
tag 355075 patch
thanks

The attached patch fixes this problem by adding a space between the {
and the \, since otherwise the new make leaves no space between the {
and the echo, which leads to the error.

Bug#351693: Build-dep incorrect for guile-1,6,7-2

Peter Chubb [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

guile-1.6 needs to build-depend on slib(=3a2-5) --- the changes to
fix bug 334735 makes it incompatible with older slib packages.

Hmm. I'm a little surprised. Guile shouldn't need slib at all when
building.
