Bug#339163: State of 339163 (C++ transition NMU seems to have been partially reverted)
tags 339163 -fixed severity 339163 important thanks On Tue, Mar 07, 2006 at 10:06:27PM +0100, Thomas Viehmann wrote: from what I see in 339163, Steve renamed the package for the C++ transition. Is there a special reason for that to not be reflected in the subsequent maintainer uploads? The bug isn't acknowledged in BTS because the 0.7-10 was never uploaded but I'm doubtful about the fix. Er... yes, this seems to revert the library name change introduced in 0.7-9.1. Given that exiv2 only exists in testing and unstable, not in stable, this is not a release-critical bug so long as we're sure that all related packages are correctly rebuilt against the new ABI; so I'm downgrading and untagging the bug. -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world. I know its in a terrible state, Actually what should be done is to repackage it instead of trying to fix the old packaging. Anyhow, I am thankful for every kind of help with it. Should I apply your patches and reupload or are you going to do an NMU ? Hi Guenter, I should have changed the subject, Amaya was the person that did the original IT-NMU, and I kept the Re: Bug#346695: Intend to NMU ivtools intact, without making clear that I was just adding additional info for her or for whoever wanted to upload the package, not meaning that I intended to NMU the package. ivtools is largely beyond my skills (My C++ skills are null) and, while my changes are only related to packaging, I prefer if such an NMU (or normal upload) is carried out by somebody knowing better the package. So, feel free to apply changes and reupload yourself as you find convenient. Bug#355855: Putting the internal database in /var/cache/roxen4 violates the FHS
Package: roxen4 Version: 4.0.325-6 Severity: serious Justification: Policy 9.1.1 Even if the local database only contains cached data, the roxen database and any user-defined databases don't. Therefore the FHS, which states that [t]he application must be able to regenerate or restore the data, is violated. I think it would be better to put everything under /var/lib instead, possibly making /var/lib/roxen4/local a symlink to /var/cache/roxen4/local. $pcdir could also be left where it is now, if possible. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (90, 'unstable'), (10, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-proffe-1 Locale: LANG=sv_SE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=sv_SE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages roxen4 depends on: ii debconf 1.4.71 Debian configuration management sy ii hostname 2.91utility to set/show the host name ii mysql-server-5.0 [mysql-serv 5.0.18-8mysql database server binaries ii pike7.6-image7.6.67-1Image module for Pike ii pike7.6-mysql7.6.67-1Mysql module for Pike ii procps 1:3.2.6-2.1 /proc file system utilities roxen4 recommends no packages. -- debconf information excluded -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Aborted radar:~ Unfortunately, I really don't know what this means, or how to debug it. I would be more than willing to help figure it out if anyone can give me some suggestions to try. The commands I used are straight from the setup documentation for Debian included with the package (although I must admit that they were a little confusing because they don't state explicitly what the paths are that need to be loaded. The Apache plugins are optional, and are pretty useless if Apache isn't present. It would be wrong to force everyone to install libwww-perl, merely because munin-node _may_ utilize it. Should it depend on Apache, too? Or perhaps Sybase? Postfix? (Don't bother answering.) I'm closing this bug report, as it is completely bogus. -- Tore Anderson ---End Message---

Bug#355436: More info, please
In report #355436 we will deal with the claim that upgrading the initscripts package caused files in /tmp to be deleted. I have set the severity level to critical on the assumption that this actually occurred and that it occurred during upgrade. Bug#354916: python2.3-sqlobject not installable in unstable (missing formencode)
Hi Fabio, Do you know if the python-formencode dependency was introduced in 0.7 ? I'm asking because 0.6 works well without this in ubuntu. Considering that python-formencode is a requirement starting with the 0.7 release and we can't upload it yet, if it will take too much time, i think you should revert back to 0.6 for a while. The rationale is that a 'old' 0.6 installable is better than a 0.7 uninstallable. Comments? Bug#347001: marked as done (mctools-lite: FTBFS: build-depends on removed xlibs-dev)
Your message dated Wed, 08 Mar 2006 18:02:15 -0800 with message-id [EMAIL PROTECTED] and subject line Bug#347001: fixed in mctools-lite 970129-16 has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what I am talking about this indicates a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact me immediately.) Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) ---BeginMessage--- Package: mctools-lite Version: 970129-15 Severity: serious Hello, This is a serious bug filed against your package because it build-depends on xlibs-dev, which as announced in [1] a while ago, is no longer available in sid. This makes your package fail to build from source. [1] http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/11/msg00022.html To fix this bug, you need to update your build-dependencies and substitute xlibs-dev for the list of individual X development libraries that your package needs to be built. You can find detailed information about how to do that in the DependsXlibsDev wiki page [2]. [2] http://wiki.debian.org/DependsXlibsDev As indicated by the Release Team [3], the full transition from XFree86 to Xorg is a release blocker for Etch, which means that Etch will not be released until this bug is fixed (or your package removed from testing). So, please, try to fix in a timely manner. [3] http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/10/msg4.html The number of affected packages by the xlibs-dev transition is huge, so if you feel like helping with patches or uploads, feel free to follow the instructions contained in the wiki page above. A list of affected packages can be found here [4]. [4] http://people.debian.org/~adeodato/release-usertag/transition-xlibs-dev Finally, if there's a strong reason for which your package should not be NMUed, please note so in this bug report. Prospective NMUers will read your reasoning, and will decide if it's strong enough to delay their upload. Thanks for your collaboration! -- Adeodato Simó dato at net.com.org.es Debian Developer adeodato at debian.org ---End Message--- ---BeginMessage--- Source: mctools-lite Source-Version: 970129-16 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of mctools-lite, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: mctools-lite_970129-16.diff.gz to pool/main/m/mctools-lite/mctools-lite_970129-16.diff.gz mctools-lite_970129-16.dsc to pool/main/m/mctools-lite/mctools-lite_970129-16.dsc mctools-lite_970129-16_i386.deb to pool/main/m/mctools-lite/mctools-lite_970129-16_i386.deb A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached.
