Bug#378839: [Pkg-bluetooth-maintainers] Bug#378839: bluez-pcmcia-support: udev support broken

2006-07-26 Thread Felix Homann
On Tuesday 25 July 2006 16:23, Filippo Giunchedi wrote:
okay, I've updated bluetooth.sh and bluez-pcmcia-support.udev again, do you
mind trying if it works as expected?

It works as expected.

Also can you paste the relevant udev
 database entry for your card?

Here you go:

P: /class/tty/ttyS2
N: ttyS2
E: MANFID=0x025e
E: CARD_ID=0x1000
E: DEVICENAME=

searching the output of udevinfo -e might
help. Only the mapping for $DEVICENAME is left to figure out.

I don't understand what you expect here. As far as I can tell $DEVICENAME
_has_ to be empty since $name is not a valid key (at least not mentioned
in 'man udev'). It is not needed or used anywhere, so I think that
ENV{DEVICENAME}=$name should be removed.

If it was meant as a reaction on Marcel's remark about the DEVICE=`echo
$DEVNAME|sed -e 's_/dev/__'` line in bluetooth.sh you can safely remove
that line and use

/usr/sbin/hciattach $DEVNAME ...

I agree with Marcel in that the script should be renamed
into bluetooth_serial (and every other point he made!).

Kind regards,

Felix

the build-dep was uploaded at the same time, so it's not valid, it's
just a 'bad' scheduling of your autobuilder, that should have seen in

Bug#284770: Bug #284770: dbmail: FTBFS (amd64/gcc-4.0): invalid lvalue in assignment

2006-07-26 Thread Paul J Stevens
Thijs,

Thanks for helping out here.

I've fixed the changelog and have made the init script (hopefully) lsb
compliant.

Francisco is around it seems (but I won't be starting tomorrow).

I've uploaded the new packages to debian.nfgd.net.

Bug#378029: Sid status

2006-07-26 Thread Martin Pitt
Hi!

These vulnerabilities have already been fixed in 1.8.4-2 in sid.
Akira, can you please retroactively add the CVE number to that
changelog in your next upload? This will ease tracking.

Thanks,

Martin

Bug#379585: [Pkg-kde-extras] how to continue: digikam 0.9-beta1 in unstable instead of experimental

2006-07-26 Thread Mark Purcell
Achim,

Here is my strategy for dealing with the bad uploads of 0.8.2
0.9.0-beta. Then again it is 'unstable' we are talking about... :-)

I have filed a bug http://bugs.debian.org/379441 against ftp.debian.org
requesting removal of 0.9 from unstable. Failing that an upload of an epoc
version 1:0.8.2 would be last resort as epoc's are forever, say if there
isn't any joy from ftp-master in the next week. When (if) frp-master does
remove 0.9 we can then upload an incremented 0.8.2 without epoc.

Meanwhile I have uploaded digikamimageplugins 0.8.2-2 to Build Depend on
digikam 0.8 0.9. This has the effect that apt-get won't normally
upgrade digikam to 0.9-beat if imageplugins 8.2 from unstable is present.
This should prevent most people from automatically upgrading to 0.9 unless
they deliberatly want to. It also stops the buildd's using mismatched
packages.

Not ideal. Sorry about that guys.. :-(

As for svn, the top level README does have some guidance, but I am aware
that you weren't totally convinced last time.

I see little work on 0.8.2 in the future with the bulk of our effort
getting 0.9.0 together for final. In fact when 0.8.2 final migrates to
testing we could probably release 0.9 beta/ rc into unstable with a
serious bug to stop it migrating to testing before 0.9 final is released
upstream.

Thus I think we should track 0.9.0 in trunk and either:

1. Per the README just svn copy the few additional releases of 8.2
directly in tags, or

2. Generate branches/0.8.2 and then tag as we release.

In my other team (pkg-voip-maintainers) we have done 1.

Comments from others in pkg-kde-extras on 0.8.2 - 0.9.0 migration or the
svn structure are welcome.

Mark

I've asked my sponsor Francisco Lovergine to vet the latest package set,
and upload them if he's satisfied.

Personally, the only obstacle I see is their dependency on a library
that's not yet in debian (libsieve.sf.net). But I've also prepared
packages for those that will close the related ITP (#325086) and have
approached the owner of that ticket.

Do I have to wait for libsieve ack or manage to upload paul's one?
Answer by libsieve original proposer is not clear...

Hello.

Some of our autobuilders do use sudo instead of fakeroot to build the
package. For some months now, the sudo package clears the environment,
so you can't use variables from the environment in debian/rules anymore.

PWD is such as environment variable; the common solution to this (common
;-) problem is to use CURDIR instead, which is a make var, not an env
var.

I'm pretty confident the attached patch will solve the issue, but it'd
be great if you can test yourself, by reproducing the problem first, and
applying the patch afterwards.

BTW, please use urgency=high for the following bluez-utils uploads that
fix RC bugs.

Thanks,

 Justification: renders package unusable

The package is build with gcc4.2 from experimental and thus depends on
libgcc1 from experimental which causes it to be uninstallable in Sid:

  rxvt-unicode: Depends: libgcc1 (= 1:4.2-20060707) but 1:4.1.1-9 is

I have asked for a binNMU to fix this. Unless stated otherwise, please

Bug#379585: [Pkg-kde-extras] how to continue: digikam 0.9-beta1 in unstable instead of experimental

2006-07-26 Thread Adeodato Simó
* Mark Purcell [Wed, 26 Jul 2006 11:17:08 +0100]:

 Achim,

Hi,

Here is my strategy for dealing with the bad uploads of 0.8.2
0.9.0-beta. Then again it is 'unstable' we are talking about... :-)

 I have filed a bug http://bugs.debian.org/379441 against ftp.debian.org
requesting removal of 0.9 from unstable.

I'm closing that bug, since what you are asking for is not ever done on
the archive, sorry.

Failing that an upload of an epoc
version 1:0.8.2 would be last resort as epoc's are forever, say if there
isn't any joy from ftp-master in the next week. When (if) frp-master does
remove 0.9 we can then upload an incremented 0.8.2 without epoc.

Epoch are ugly, so I can suggest that you upload to unstable:

  - digikam_0.9-really.0.8.2-1.changes, containing:

digikam_0.9-really.0.8.2.orig.tar.gz, which is a copy of
digikam_0.8.2.orig.tar.gz
digikam_0.9-really.0.8.2-1.dsc
digikam_0.9-really.0.8.2-1.diff.gz

(You want 0.9-really.0.8, _NOT_ 0.9.really.0.8.)

When 0.9, upload it as 0.9.0-1 (_NOT_ 0.9-1):

  % dpkg --compare-versions 0.9-beta1-1 lt 0.9-really.0.8.2-1 echo ok
  ok

  % dpkg --compare-versions 0.9-really.0.8.2-1 lt 0.9.0-1 echo ok
  ok

  % dpkg --compare-versions 0.9-really.0.8.2-1 lt 0.9-1 || echo not-ok
  not-ok

I'm availabe on irc as dato if you have any doubts about the above.

As for svn, the top level README does have some guidance, but I am aware
that you weren't totally convinced last time.

This is up to you. Having trunk/ always be the latest version is a good
alternative, indeed.

HTH,

Hello Julien,

Could you please elaborate on that FTBFS, since debian/rules build target
passes just fine here, clean target is also fine. Perhaps if I know how you
invoked the sbuild on bobcat package I can reproduce that ftbfs. Hm, did you
run into free space shortage when the source package got uncompressed so that
INSTALL.cf file was not there for you ? Thanks for your assistance.

Bug#376863: brltty: needs NMU

2006-07-26 Thread Rudy Godoy

Followup-For: Bug #376863

Hi, I think maybe it's better to depend on the generic libbluetooth-dev, so
it'll avoid the same problem in the future, provide that the library package
still provides it.

By the way this will need NMU since Mario is on VAC till september.

Thanks Pierre,

I think you are right, an epoc won't hurt us... :-)

Despite the suggestion from Adeodato I think we should just go with:

1:0.8.2-1 into unstable, and
1:0.9-beta1-1 into experimental
1:0.9-beta1-2
1:0.9-beta2-1

Which can then grow into:
1:0.9-rc1-1
1:0.9-rc1-2
1:0.9-rc2-1
...

and
1:0.9.0-1 when we getto final upstream

Bug#379266: fixing FTBFS

2006-07-26 Thread Luca Bruno
tags 379266 + patch
thanks

Hi,
the FTBFS can be avoided just relaxing the build-dep (libxclass0-dev
0.9.0). I really think it can be avoided, as it compile and build
even with newer libraries.
So I've removed it, and the build goes fine.
Attached is the patch to fix this.

Cheers, Luca

Bug#284770: Bug #284770: dbmail: FTBFS (amd64/gcc-4.0): invalid lvalue in assignment

2006-07-26 Thread Paul J Stevens
I dont know.

José claims he has uploaded packages six weeks ago, but there's nothing
to be found online. I've checked packages.qa.d.o and bugs.d.o... But the
ITP hasn't been closed, so I suppose it never made it. Also, the dbmail
packages depend on libsieve =2.1.12, which was only released last weekend.

José, any news wrt #325086? If not, would you mind if Francisco uploads
my packages?

 Julien,

I've just released dbmail-2.1.7 and have uploaded i386 and amd64
packages to my deb repo. The packages are lintian clean, and I'm quite
happy with their state. All that remains tbd are some debconf cleanups.

Answer by libsieve original proposer is not clear...

licenses, the LGPL and the other non DFSG one (Why?)

Good idea. Upstream has traditionally been sloppy with their licenses, I
had to encourage them to add or change many licenses when originally
packaging. I haven't looked closely yet, but I think csound5 does a
better job of this. In only a couple of weeks I'll have the time to
package csound5. I'm not sure if that will be in time for etch or not,
but I'm crossing my fingers.

Okay, I've no idea if this is right or not now; but it's not the real bug; and
if it were, there's more to it than just that one assignment.

The real bug is in tagfile.cc, in particular the patch fixing Bug#350025
-- using MMap doesn't work if your Fd is a pipe, which it is if you point
apt-ftparchive at a suite that doesn't have an uncompressed Packages file,
and ask it to generate Contents.

Fix is reverting the patch, at least for the case where your input file
 size is empty.

I put a branch that should fix the issue up at
http://people.ubuntu.com/~mvo/bzr/apt/tagfile-mmap-fix/

I send a patch to James asking for testing and will upload it to
experimental (along with some other fixes there). Once I got positive
feedback on the patch I will merge it into the sid version of apt and
upload.

The new version will use MMap if possible in tagfile and if not fall
back to the old implementation.

Thanks,
 Michael

My system (using file-rc) does not know anything about /etc/rc*.d.
Please read the policy and use update-rc.d instead.

I would welcome your suggestion as to a way to perform the function
above (i.e. remove the script from just two runlevels) using
update-rc.d, without entirely removing and reinstating the links. To the
best of my knowledge, there is no way to do this.

Also, the usual consequences of failing to use update-rc.d don't apply
here, so I don't think this bug needs to be release-critical and I'm
downgrading it to normal. The only consequence of this bug is that
upgraded systems using file-rc have a slightly less efficient
shutdown/reboot process.

Two different packages must not install programs with different

having the same functionality but different implementations is handled via
alternatives or the Conflicts mechanism. See Maintainer Scripts,

Any idea when you will manage to to the upload (days, weeks,

has the current version (I guess so)?

I had a look at that and could wipe out the non-free license

Can you send the author's complete mail to you to the bug report? I
think he's the one to know

- whether everything should be under the new license.

So I'd need the author's statement to be able to answer your question.
Except if you think that the files are so short that there's nothing

file might be more creative work than a couple of lines seem).

Bug#379988: Uninstallable due to unmet dep on libyaz

2006-07-26 Thread Luk Claes
Package: libnet-z3950-perl
Severity: serious
Version: 0.51-1

Hi

Your package is not installable as it depends on libyaz which is not
available in unstable anymore. You might want to update that dependency
to libyaz2 (build depending on libyaz2-dev).

Cheers

Bug#379986: conflicts with current xfce

2006-07-26 Thread Robert Bihlmeyer
Package: xfdesktop4
Version: 4.3.90.1-2
Severity: grave

xfdesktop4 depends on libxfce4util2. Most other xfce stuff depends on
libxfce4util4 which conflicts with libxfce4util2. So one has to
choose...

I guess xfdesktop4 just needs a recompile with the new lib.

Bug#378183: apt: All SHA256 hashes generated/used by APT are wrong

2006-07-26 Thread Michael Vogt
On Fri, Jul 14, 2006 at 04:01:46AM +0200, Jakob Bohm wrote:
 Package: apt
 Version: 0.6.44.2
 Severity: critical
 Tags: security patch
 Justification: breaks the whole system

Thanks for your bugreport and your patch. I applied the patch and I
added a test in tests/hashes.cc for the sha256 code.

The SHA256 checksums recently added to Packages files are wrong
due to a porting error when the sha256 implementation code was
imported from the Linux kernel sources to the apt source tree.
Specifically, the broken sha256 code checksums only 19 out of
every 64 bytes of input and otherwise computes a result which is
 neither sha256(input) nor sha256(mangled input).

According to the changelog, the broken code was added to
 non-experimental apt in version 0.6.44 uploaded 8 May 2006 .

This has the following severe consequences:

 - The broken hash values obviously do not provide anything
resembling the security needed by secure apt, a problem
compounded by the broken status of the other two hash
algorithms used (MD5 and SHA1). Thus the security tag.

The current version of apt is not yet fully converted to use
sha256. Currently we generate them in apt-ftparchive but they are not
yet checked when the files are downloaded (only sha1/md5 is right now).

There is a branch to fully do sha256 at
http://people.ubuntu.com/~mvo/bzr/apt/sha256/

but it is not finished and there are several issues that needs to be
resolved first.

 - When the code is fixed to produce and check correct SHA256
hashes, the fact that these values are different from the
broken values means that a correct apt will reject all Packages
files produced by a broken apt and a broken apt will reject all
Packages files produced by a correct apt. This means that
when such a new apt implementation is placed in the debian
archive, the whole system becomes impossible to install or
  upgrade:
[..]

See above, this is not a issue right now.

Cheers,
 Michael

Bug#377449: swapspace: still does fail to parse /proc/meminfo here

2006-07-26 Thread Sebastian Bremicker
Hi!

 [..]
I've just committed a patch to make the care a bit less extreme. Could
 you test this? [..]

Thank you very much for the patch. I am neither a developer nor a
debian package maintainer, but I tried my luck with apt-get source,
patch -p 0, apt-get -b source and dpkg -i. And now it runs:

Starting dynamic swap manager: swapspaceInitial memory status: 1079393600 bytes
to spare
.

So at least for vanilla 2.6.17.4 I can report that the patch works,
eventually I will upgrade to 2.6.17.7 before 2.6.18 is out, but here in
Germany we currently experience a hot spell so running a Personal
Computer in ones overheated home is difficult enough, let alone putting
it to work at the moment ;).

Sebastian

Bug#379987: This is a feature, not a bug

2006-07-26 Thread Graham

I ran into the same problem a couple of days ago.

Have a look at /usr/share/doc/squid/RELEASENOTES.html.gz

(Lynx will view gzipped HTML, so I've just learned)

The method of configuring acceleration has changed. The documentation
hasn't been updated, and I consider that a bug.

Here's my new configuration:

http port 3128 defaultsite=localhost:80
cache_peer localhost parent 80 0 no-query originserver

If you google for terms like cache_peer and originserver you will
likely find some additional configuration examples.

versions of libs from GCC and was fixed Thu, 16 Mar 2006.

Anyway, both bugs are archived. Why should anyone care?

Bug#380014: Uninstallable due to unmet dep on libyaz

2006-07-26 Thread Luk Claes
Package: tellico
Severity: serious
Version: 1.1.6-1

Hi

Your package is not installable as it depends on libyaz which is not
available in unstable anymore. You might want to update that dependency
to libyaz2 (by changing the build-dep to libyaz2-dev for a start).

Cheers

Luk

Hi,

For a some times, a few packages now provide 32-bit libraries on amd64.
They are installed in /lib32 and /usr/lib32. However, ld does not search
libraries in these directories, whereas it searches in /lib64 and
/usr/lib64 for 64-bit libraries on a bi-arch system (i386, sparc,
powerpc, s390).

Note having libraries in /lib32 and /usr/lib32 on amd64 is Debian
specific (however Gentoo does the same).

Please find attached a patch (122_x86_64_i386_biarch.dpatch) to fix
that. I have also attached a patch for the unofficial ppc64 architecture
(123_ppc64_powerpc_biarch.dpatch), but I have not tested it.

Thanks,
Aurelien

Bug#379732: popularity-contest: Fails to upload using http

2006-07-26 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
severity 379732 normal
thanks

[Richard Antony Burton]
Can no longer upload popcon result by http (which as the default
method probably means few other people are able to either). I added
the -d option to the uploader and ran it a few times (with several
 different results):

I am unable to reproduce this. When I visit the HTTP submit URL, it
seem to work as it should (this is the expected output when not using
the popcon script to submit reports):

  % HEAD http://popcon.debian.org/cgi-bin/popcon.cgi
  200 OK
  Connection: close
  Date: Wed, 26 Jul 2006 22:40:28 GMT
  Server: Apache/1.3.33 (Debian GNU/Linux) PHP/4.3.10-16 DAV/1.0.3
  Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8
  Client-Date: Wed, 26 Jul 2006 22:40:28 GMT
  Client-Peer: 192.25.206.10:80
  Client-Response-Num: 1

  % GEThttp://popcon.debian.org/cgi-bin/popcon.cgi
  Debian Popularity-Contest HTTP-POST submission URL
  Visit http://popcon.debian.org/ for more info.
  %

I also tried to submit a new report from my laptop, and this did not
give any errors to syslog, which it should if it failed to get the
proper reply from the HTTP server.

  # /etc/cron.weekly/popularity-contest
  # grep popularity-contest /var/log/messages
  #

Are you still seeing the problem? If so, I suggest checking for HTTP
proxies between your machine and popcon.debian.org.

Redusing severity to normal, as this do not affect all users.

Friendly,

Bug#378183: marked as done (apt: All SHA256 hashes generated/used by APT are wrong)

2006-07-26 Thread Debian Bug Tracking System
Your message dated Wed, 26 Jul 2006 16:17:05 -0700

and subject line Bug#378183: fixed in apt 0.6.45

Debian bug tracking system administrator
(administrator, Debian Bugs database)

---BeginMessage---
Package: apt
Version: 0.6.44.2
Severity: critical
Tags: security patch
Justification: breaks the whole system

- When the code is fixed to produce and check correct SHA256
hashes, the fact that these values are different from the
broken values means that a correct apt will reject all Packages
files produced by a broken apt and a broken apt will reject all
Packages files produced by a correct apt. This means that
when such a new apt implementation is placed in the debian
archive, the whole system becomes impossible to install or
 upgrade:

If the Packages file has bad SHA256 values, the broken apt
versions already installed by testers/users will allow
installation of the new apt, but once it has been installed,
the new apt will reject all packages and stop all further
 installs.

If the Packages file has good SHA256 values, the broken apt
versions already deployed will refuse their contents, thus
preventing users from upgrading to a good apt.

This I believe justifies the breaks whole system, critical
 tag.

To work around the breaks whole system issue, the following
transition plan is proposed:

 1. Before uploading the fixed apt, temporarily reconfigure
darcs etc. to NOT include SHA256 values in Packages files at
all (apt-ftparchive has an option to do that).

 2. Upload the fixed apt as a minimal change from the apt
version in testing, and coordinate with ftpadmin to push it
quickly through to testing. Yes, this means holding back
other bug fixes until the change has propagated.

 3. Allow 1-3 weeks for users to upgrade to the fixed apt. Use
the various announce mailing lists to alert users to the
urgency of getting rid of apt versions 0.6.44 to 0.6.44.?
inclusive before the grace period ends!

 4. Turn SHA256 back on in darcs etc. this makes the SHA256
security available for real. But it also means that the
archive can no longer be used by the broken 0.6.44 versions
of apt. So leave behind (on the ftp server, www server etc.)
a message explaining how users can manually upgrade to a new
apt version by downloading a .tar file and a detached .gpg
   signature from ftp.debian.org/debian/tools/something . (This
would be a hand-built tar file containing replacement .so
files for each of the bad 0.6.44 apt versions and platforms).

For the security breakage, patching apt is the obvious fix.

Steps to reproduce:

$ apt-ftparchive packages somedirwithdebs
.
Filename: somedirwithdebs/something_xyz_all.deb
SHA256: 64 wrong hex digits here
.
$ gpg --pring-md sha256 somedirwithdebs/something_xyz_all.deb
somedirwithdebs/something_xyz_all.deb: 64 right hex digits
$ shasum -a 256 somedirwithdebs/something_xyz_all.deb
64 right hex digits somedirwithdebs/something_xyz_all.deb
$ openssl dgst -sha256 -hex somedirwithdebs/something_xyz_all.deb
SHA256(somedirwithdebs/something_xyz_all.deb)= 64 right hex
digits
$

Thus at least 3 independent SHA256 implementations agree on the
correct value, as will apt once corrected.

Bug#378296: xracer: FTBFS: GL library was not found

There was a problem while autobuilding your package:
checking for glNewList in -lGL... no
checking for glNewList in -lMesaGL... no
configure: error: GL library was not found

The problem is a missing build-dependency on libxi-dev (as can be
seen from config.log). I've attached a patch that fixes this.

The resulting package works just as fine as the previous version
(i.e. it looks absolutely terrible by today's standards).

Cheers,
Christian Aichinger

Bug#380028: mkvmlinuz requires -fno-stack-protector with gcc-4.1

2006-07-26 Thread Emanuel Steen
Subject: mkvmlinuz requires -fno-stack-protector with gcc-4.1
Package: mkvmlinuz
Version: 23ubuntu1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

mkvmlinuz requires0 to be compiled with the -fno-stack-protector flags
with gcc-4.1 since it seems gcc-4.1 enables -fstack-protector by
default. mkvmlinuz fails to create the kernel otherwise.

Output from running mkvmlinuz on my machine:

I then tried to compile mkvmlinuz with the -fno-stack-protector flag and
it worked just fine to create the new kernel.

(Backported) apt-ftparchive on ftp-master currently fails to generate
Contents files. I've reproduced this locally on sid with vanilla
apt-utils and a trivial apt.conf file.

| Done Packages, Starting contents.
| unstable/Contents-i386:
| E: Sub-process decompressor exited unexpectedly
| E: Error processing contents unstable/Contents-i386
| Done. 588MB in 335 archives. Took 1m49s

Michael's looked into this today but was unable to find the problem
and unfortunately he's now away for a while. (Thus the 'help' tag)

strace shows that one of the gzip -d processes is throwing SIGPIPE but
nothing else particularly useful. I've put one up at
http://people.debian.org/~troup/misc/strace.txt anyway.

Interestingly while trying to reproduce this I discovered that if I
limited the number of debs I was feeding apt-ftparchive, I could make
the problem go away. 63 or less files worked, = 64 doesn't.

I've attached the local apt.conf too (but it's obviously not useful
unmodified).

No, I have no python2.4 installed. I am installing it now and...
well, it looks somewhat better. The gajim has been configured correctly
 but there was a message:

in fact python2.4 depends on python2.4-minimal. So if python2.4 is
correctly installed, it should be ok. what python2.4 version do you have ?

Bug#379982: Misuse of alternatives

2006-07-26 Thread MJ Ray
Matthew Wilcox [EMAIL PROTECTED] quoted from policy:
Two different packages must not install programs with different
functionality but with the same filenames. (The case of two programs
having the same functionality but different implementations is handled via
 alternatives or [...]

I think that policy is not violated:

The git installed by cogito*deb is a version control system.

The git installed by git*deb is a shell script which calls the
same version control system if called non-interactively.

The two programs have the same functionality, but git*deb's
offers more functionality if called interactively. I'm sure
most people can think of alternatives where one implementation
offers a superset of the other.

The maintainers should report this to the debian-devel mailing
list and try to find a consensus about which program will have to be
renamed. If a consensus cannot be reached, both programs must be renamed.

This was reported to debian-devel by Sebastian Kuzminsky on
2005-08-11. Consensus seemed to be for the package maintainers
to work it out and this is what they chose. If you want to
reopen that discussion, please raise it on debian-devel again
and cc this bug and the cogito package maintainer.

As I understand it, git*deb's git will be renamed upstream
to gitfm, matching git*deb, but it is desirable to provide
a nice transition for sarge users, so git*deb's git inherits
cogito*deb's git's functionality for now if available.

What better solution do you suggest?

Bug#379720: vdr-plugin-bitstreamout: FTBFS: error: 'fls' was not declared in this scope

2006-07-26 Thread Ben Hutchings
$ gcc -x c -c -o test.o /usr/include/asm/bitops.h
$ gcc -x c++ -c -o test.o /usr/include/asm/bitops.h
/usr/include/asm-generic/bitops/fls64.h: In function 'int fls64(__u64)':
/usr/include/asm-generic/bitops/fls64.h:10: error: 'fls' was not declared in
this scope
/usr/include/asm-generic/bitops/fls64.h:11: error: 'fls' was not declared in
this scope

Firstly, why is this package using a C++ compiler for what on the face
of it looks like C code?

Secondly, asm-i486/bitops.h defines fls() only if __KERNEL__ is
defined but always includes asm-generic/bitops/fls64.h, which defines
fls64() in terms of fls(). A C compiler will accept this use of fls()
as an implicit declaration - though the function is never defined - but
a C++ compiler will not. This seems like a bug in linux-kernel-headers.

Ben.
