Bug#448261: Crashes with No such file or directory: Please install ghostscript and make sure 'gs' is in the PATH.

2007-10-27 Thread Mark Purcell
Package: flpsed
Version: 0.3.7-1.1
Severity: grave

I suspect the ghostscript/gs upgrades in unstable are responsible,
however flpsed in unstable is currently unusable:

Please install ghostscript and make sure 'gs' is in the PATH.

I haven't looked too deeply, but I have packaged
flpsed 0.5.0 which does function correctly and is available
at http://people.debian.org/~msp and am happy to NMU if
wanted. (See also Bug#401205)

Hi, Dirk.

it's done, though. It will be for next release anyway---I don't think

Bug#448157: CVE-2007-5585 authentication bypass

2007-10-27 Thread Jose Luis Rivas Contreras
reassign 448157 rss-glx
thanks

Hi,

There's no such `xscreensaver-gl-extras' package, xscreensaver-gl-helper
is installed with `xscreensaver-gl' so `rss-glx' should really suggests
xscreensaver-gl instead of xscreensaver.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dpkg -S /usr/bin/xscreensaver-gl-helper
xscreensaver-gl: /usr/bin/xscreensaver-gl-helper.

`xscreensaver' cannot depend on `xscreensaver-gl' because is not needed
and `xscreensaver-gl-helper' neither. The only workaround I can figure
out right now is the maintainer of `rss-glx' making that if xscreensaver
is installed then depends on `xscreensaver-gl'. I don't know if there's
already a field that makes this in `debian/control' (I didn't found
anything)...

So that's why I'm reassigning this bug to `rss-glx' (again), because is
not really a bug in xscreensaver. Besides, I don't know why does need to
run xscreensaver-gl-helper when unlocking, it should run it when locking
the screen, there's no need to run it in unlocking-time.

Regards,
Jose Luis.

Bug#448157: CVE-2007-5585 authentication bypass

Yes but this would only workaround the problem. That is why
I reassigned this bug to xscreensaver. Ari is currently
preparing a package with a change dependency but we decided
that this is more an xscreensaver issue because xscreensaver
could just stay blank and print a message for example
instead of exiting.

think.

Oh! I thougth you wrote that remained locked the screen. Well, really
rss-glx should _not_ use gl-helper for unlocking and don't know how
exactly reproduce it in an environment correctly configured. (I mean
with xscreensaver-gl installed) Why is xscreensaver-gl needed? Well
it've the binaries needed by xscreensaver to run any gl hack.

 [...]

Well, is not that's a xscreensaver bug as I already wrote above, rss-glx
does really needs xscreensaver-gl for working with xscreensaver.

So basicly rss-glx depending in xscreensaver-gl when is using
xscreensaver should fix this bug and not just be a workaround.

And is just not a workaround because I'm working right now in separating
the hacks of xscreensaver so there'll exists two more packages:
xscreensaver-hacks and xscreensaver-gl-hacks and made them availables to
apps like gnome-screensaver without installing the binaries so is gonna
be safe to install xscreensaver-gl without installing unnecesaries hacks.

So considering that this is not already done (spliting xscreensaver) and
there's already a wishlist about spliting the package and this bugs is
not exactly a xscreensaver bug this bug could be blocked by #410095 and
I don't think should be reassigned to xscreensaver.

Regards,
Jose Luis.

Package: binutils
Version: 2.18~cvs20070812-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

ld spits out 3 assertion failures in a row while linking a simple test program
during the openh323 build. This leads to the test program failing with undefined
symbols later on, as can be seen on the build logs at
http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=openh323ver=1.18.0.dfsg-4arch=mipsstamp=1187867576file=log
http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=openh323ver=1.18.0.dfsg-4arch=mipselstamp=1187890191file=log

The buildds were running binutils 2.17cvs20070804-1, and I can reproduce the
problem with the current binutils from sid (2.18~cvs20070812-1).

openh323 1.18.0.dfsg-1+b1 is the last version that build properly on mipsen,
and that was with binutils binutils 2.17-3.

Thanks,

JB.

Bug#448157: CVE-2007-5585 authentication bypass

2007-10-27 Thread Ari Pollak
The point here is that xscreensaver should not unlock the screen when
missing xscreensaver-gl-helper, it should just display a blank
screensaver. rss-glx does not NEED to be run with xscreensaver-gl-helper
as it's perfectly feasible to run with gnome-screensaver, so rss-glx
shouldn't need to depend on xscreensaver-gl to prevent xscreensaver from
crashing.

Bug#448285: shlibs is wrong

2007-10-27 Thread Klaus Ethgen
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Package: opal
Version: 2.2.11~dfsg1
Severity: serious

The shlibs file is created with
 dh_makeshlibs -V '$(PACKAGE) (= $(UPVERSION)) | $(PACKAGE)-ptrace (=
$(UPVERSION)) | $(PACKAGE)-develop (= $(UPVERSION))'
where the UPVERSION variable is the version WITHOUT the ~dfsg1.

The so created shlibs file leads to broken packages when linking against
libopal-2.2 so that the dependencies cannot be resolved by apt(itude).

Package: gdm
Version: 2.16.4

Hi, I'm not sure what package this bug applies to -
possibly gdm, or maybe nautilus, or maybe something
else.

Description:
I set the computer to the log in screen by selecting
'switch user'; I saw it return to the log in screen,
as expected. When I returned to the computer approx.
1/2 an hour later, my session had resumed, i.e. my
desktop was visible instead of the log in screen (I
have no auto log in set or anything like that).
(Expected situation would be to see the log in
screen).
This might be related to the last action I did before
logging out: I tried to connect to an ssh server with
nautilus. This was taking a very long time, so I left
the Nautilus window open and logged out. When I came
back, the Nautilus window was visible but had crashed
(it was displaying a 'this application is not
responding' prompt). After clicking 'force quit' my
desktop was visible and usable, without having entered
by password at all.

Configuration info:
I'm running Debian Etch, i386 version. I've got the
standard 'Desktop' setup and very little else - there
was nothing running at the time of the crash apart
from the Nautilus window, standard Gnome apps (panel
etc.) and an Apache server (running as a separate
user).

Please let me know if you need any other information.

Regards,

Aidan

Package: multipath-tools
Version: 0.4.7-1.1
Severity: grave
Tags: patch
Justification: renders package unusable

The script /etc/rcS.d/S03multipath-tools-boot creates devices in
/dev/mapper/ (per udev rule), but /dev/mapper/ does not exist at that
time. The directory is created by /etc/rcS.d/S25libdevmapper1.02, so
multipath-tools-boot should run after that. (Or perhaps the directory
should be created earlier by some other means.) I could successfully
fix the problem by moving it to S25multipath-tools-boot. (The numbers
are a bit tight because I need it before S26lvm.)

This applies to etch; it might be possible that the new packaging
structure in unstable works better.

thanks

Hi,

after having slowly updated an etch chroot to a sid one using
snaphsot.debian.net, I have found that the FTBFS occurs with gcj-4.2,
and is not related to ecj.

Indeed, using the following pakages:
 * java-gcj-compat{,-dev} 1.0.69-2
 * ecj, ecj-gcj, libecj-java and libecj-gcj 3.3.0+0728-1
 * libgcj-bc, libgcj8{-1,-1-awt,-jar} 4.2.1-3
 * gcc-4.2-base 4.2.1-3
 * gcj-4.1-base, gcj-4.1, gij-4.1, libgcj7-1 4.1.2-16
 * libgcc1 1:4.2.2-3
eclipse-cdt compiles.

Updating to sid, I reach a point where:
 * java-gcj-compat 1.0.76-4 sets gcj-4.2 as the default gcj version
 * gcj-4.2, gij-4.2 and libgcj8-* are at version 4.2.1-3

With these packages eclipse-cdt no longer compiles.

I'll try to use earlier versions of {gcj,gij}-4.2.

Regards,

Thomas

Bug#448296: gimp-gap needs to be updated for gimp 2.4

2007-10-27 Thread Sven
Package: gimp-gap
Version: 2.2.0-2.1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

A number of problems have been reported to the gimp-gap bug-tracker
(bugzilla.gnome.org) about using gap version 2.2.0 and 2.2.1 with gimp
2.4. Several functions of gap don't work and cause error messages
after an upgrade to gimp 2.4. The GAP developers have addressed
these problems and released version 2.2.2 long before GIMP 2.4 was
released.

The debian gimp-gap package needs to be updated to the upstream
release 2.2.2 in order to run correctly with gimp 2.4 which is now
packaged for sid.

Bug#442316: Xorg hotplugging problems

2007-10-27 Thread Jack Dodds
If I understand this report, this bug is being treated as if it was
introduced in the evdev version in experimental.

However, I am experiencing it with stable (etch).

I am running etch with Gnome. I have a two seat system (two independent
keyboards, mice, and screens). In etch, the two seat system can be set
up without patching anything, but it is essential to use evdev to do so.

I have two 104 key keyboards, the main one connected via a PS2 port, the
secondary one via USB.

The keyboard mappings are messed up. Both keyboards behave the same
way. For example, the Up key in the editing section of the keyboard
behaves like the Print key. The right Ctrl key and the PgDn in
the keypad both cause a page down, but the Page Down key in the
editing section of the keyboard does nothing.

I would be very grateful for any suggestions for a workaround that could
be used in etch.

(BTW, The two seat system was previously running under sarge, without
this bug, but required patches to XFree86 and the kernel.)

Here's the keyboard setup.

The needed rebuilds are already queued and this should get solved by

change we did in last cuple of releases.

I'm closing this bug since it's not a fault on software.

Package: util-vserver
Version: 0.30.214-3
Severity: serious
File: /var/lib/dpkg/info/util-vserver.postinst

The postinst script unconditionally removes /etc/vserver{,s}.conf on
every configuration. Since the configuration is apparently preserved
by sourcing the files and creating a symlink in place of their
content, this is okay. However the package both includes and removes
the conffile vservers.conf which is not allowed.

It's is also not okay if VSERVERS_ROOT and VSERVER_ROOT aren't the
only things that were ever specified in those files, or if something
else *could* have been (legitimately?) added there. Preferably the
files aren't removed if anything else is there:

for f in /etc/vserver.conf /etc/vservers.conf
do
if grep -ve '^VSERVERS_ROOT' -e '^VSERVER_ROOT' $f /dev/null
then
echo $0: warning: not removing obsolete $f
else
echo $0: removing obsolete conffile: $f
rm -fv -- $f
fi 2
done

The same problem with these removals:

|# Remove old startup scripts
|rm -f /etc/init.d/vservers-legacy
|rm -f /etc/init.d/vservers-default
|rm -f /etc/init.d/vprocunhide
|rm -f /etc/default/util-vservere
[...]
|rm -f /etc/init.d/rebootmgr

The situation is marginally different since these files aren't
included in the current package version. These should be removed iff:

 1. A version check with dpkg --compare-versions is true; and
 2. the file exists; and
 3. its md5sum matches the value stored in the dpkg status database
for the most-recently installed copy of the file; and
 4. echo $0: removing obsolete conffile: $f 2

Otherwise, (assuming they're really obsolete), if (1) and (2) is true,
the file should be renamed eg. to $f.dpkg-old and a message should be
printed: echo $0: renaming modified, obsolete conffile: $f 2

Since this is the postinst script, dpkg rollbacks don't need to be (or
can't be) supported in those removals. However I wonder whether these
manipulations shouldn't instead be performed in the preinst.

There's another problem too: removal of the symlinks isn't preserved:
run.rev vdirbase

Hi,

When upgrading from util-vserver 0.30.212-1 to 0.30.214-3 I'm unable to

I get the following error:

Hello... again. O:-)

The sync() method of Spool does not honour the configured spool_path.
This causes data loss when the daemon exits but there are pending
submissions on the queue. Please find a (tested) trivial patch below,
though I'd recommend doing something involving a try block, possibly
calling lastfm.submit() *before* calling unlink().

screensaver. rss-glx does not NEED to be run with xscreensaver-gl-helper
as it's perfectly feasible to run with gnome-screensaver, so rss-glx
shouldn't need to depend on xscreensaver-gl to prevent xscreensaver from
 crashing.

Ok, that's a point, I'm reassigning the bug to xscreensaver then and
will figure out what's wrong when rss-glx is running.

Regards,
Jose Luis.

I think things got worse with 2.6.24...
The machine shoots itself now, I guess by running cron jobs or so.

 and an unkillable, cpu-eating aptitude.

One cpu can't send a message successfully to another cpu, likely
because it is stuck somewhere with interrupts off.

I was going to give you a patch like the one at the end of this email
to try and get a register dump from all cpus with Alt-Sysrq-p but that
is guarenteed not to work. It will just call back into
cheetah_xcall_deliver() and wedge further. Again, don't use the
patch, trying to get a register dump with it in this state will just
wedge the machine further.

I don't know how to suggest a way to debug this further, sorry.

I'm sick of these bugs and I need to reproduce all of these
UltraSPARC-III issues locally to fix them. So let's go.

Everyone who sees these UltraSPARC-III problems please send me PRECISE
and FULL description of how to install from scratch a machine and run
something that will trigger these errors.

DO NOT leave out any detail of your installation. Any minor omission
will mean that I potentially won't be able to reproduce this bug and
therefore I won't be able to fix it either.

If you are using NIS, say so and give the exact configuration. If you
have any modifications to some core configuration file like
/etc/nsswitch.conf, tell me. If you are using static IP addresses,
tell me. If you have netfilter enabled, tell me. If you have even
installed some extra package, like libnss-db or anything else, tell me
even if you think it's not in use.

In short I want a flawless cook-book style recipe for installing a
machine that I can reproduce this problem on. Do not omit any detail.

Thanks!

Bug#448253: azureus: uninstallable in Sid, missing libswt-gtk-3.3-java

2007-10-27 Thread Shaun Jackman
Yes, you'll have to wait for libswt-gtk-3.3-java to pass through the
NEW queue. Watch here:
http://qa.debian.org/[EMAIL PROTECTED]
.. and here...
http://ftp-master.debian.org/new.html

Cheers,
Shaun

 Azureus is uninstallable in Sid:

azureus: Depends: libswt-gtk-3.3-java which is a virtual package.

This also causes an additional FTBFS bug.
