Sorry, that’s /usr/lib/$(pyversions -d)/… of course.

Furthermore, you need to do that before the call to dh_pysupport. You
also want to test this change extensively, since the code to handle
renaming of relative symlinks correctly was not added long ago.

Cheers,

Bug#522342: scheme48: i386 FTBFS: make test fails on users&groups posix test

2009-04-06 Thread Daniel Moerner
Brief update: I will be out of town for the next two and a half weeks,
unfortunately this FTBFS came at a very bad time. I apologize if it
has bitten anyone between now and when I can request a buildd rebuild.
(I have tried to reduce the heap size of the tests and still can't
reproduce the error.)

Since Sebastien did not say anything else and now lfm is RC-buggy due to
new python-support, please, go ahead. Mail me if you need sponsoring.

Bug#520352: malo chroot /etc/group needs fixing

2009-04-06 Thread Daniel Kahn Gillmor
Hi folks--

It looks like the main thing holding up coreutils 7.1 from propagating
into squeeze is a bad /etc/group file in the chroot on malo.

I tried building coreutils on my own powerpc system and it built
properly and passed all tests that were run. (in particular, it passed
chown/separator.log). I can supply build logs if anyone wants them.

Could someone tweak malo's chroot's /etc/group to contain a non-empty
name for gid 1009?

Thanks,

To be clear on what the recommended fix is, are you saying that the
above lines should be changed to say:

=
dh_link /usr/share/javascript/mochikit/MochiKit.js \
/usr/share/$(pyversions
-d)/site-packages/python-paste/paste/evalexception/mochikit/MochiKit.js
=

Or some other change instead? Is anything else required?

Oh, please take no offense, as none was intended. I'm not even sure
what bug reports I might have submitted on the issue in the past, and
if I did, it probably didn't have enough detail. It's just one of
those bugs that only pops up right in the middle of something and I
never find the time to come back and look into it.

Great, I'm glad to hear it. Thanks for your very quick response and

It looks like I don't even have a /etc/mono/config. Here are the
contents of that directory:

total 324K
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 63 2009-04-05 23:39 1.0
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 114 2009-04-05 23:39 2.0

drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 23 2009-04-05 23:40 mconfig

"which mono" gives "/usr/bin/mono"

I know nothing about mono, other than the fact that a few of the apps I
use use it, so I've never touched any configuration files. If that
config file is missing is there a package that I can reinstall to get it
back?

Package: python-qt4
Version: 4.4.2-4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Because some newer python program required 4.4.3, tried to install this off
experimental. The package will not install, error returned during unpack.

Trying a --force-all install using dpkg showed that the failure is in trying
to overwrite local files. Even --force-all did not enable this to procede.

please never file cross compiler issues as RC reports. we add all patches which
keep the cross builds working, but failures in cross build should not hinder the
normal debian packages.

please do consider to build the cross packages from an explicit separate source
(build-depending on the various toolchain -source packages). The -source
packages do contain the packaging and patch files as well, so you still can use
the debian patches that debian applies to the toolchain.

Bug#522852: guile-1.8: FTBFS: guile.c:72: undefined reference to `lt__PROGRAM__LTX_preloaded_symbols'

2009-04-06 Thread Kurt Roeckx
Source: guile-1.8
Version: 1.8.5+1-4.1
Severity: serious

Hi,

Your package is failing to build with the following error:
x86_64-linux-gnu-gcc -O2 -g -Wall -Wmissing-prototypes -Werror .libs/guileS.o
-o .libs/guile guile-guile.o -Wl,--export-dynamic ./.libs/libguile.so
/usr/lib/libgmp.so -lcrypt -lm /usr/lib/libltdl.so
guile-guile.o: In function `main':
/build/buildd/guile-1.8-1.8.5+1/libguile/guile.c:72: undefined reference to
`lt__PROGRAM__LTX_preloaded_symbols'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

This is probably a missing call to LTDL_SET_PRELOADED_SYMBOLS

This bug is holding up the libltdl transition. It would be nice
if you could fix this soon. If you need help, please ask.

Bug#522836: zile: Assertion crash in auto-fill-mode

2009-04-06 Thread Reuben Thomas

On Mon, 6 Apr 2009, Tim wrote:

This bug has been in zile a *long* time, but I have never managed to
either write a detailed enough bug report or get anyone to care.

My dear sir, I'm not sure whether I've ever had a bug report from you, but I
certainly *do* care, and have made several attempts over the years to fix
paragraph filling. I'm sorry it's still causing grief...

Thanks very much for your detailed bug report, which enabled me to reproduce
the bug. I've committed a fix to git, and will release 2.3.5 shortly. I
can't promise this is the last bug in line wrapping; this one was specific
to lines containing multiple spaces, as the call to delete-horizontal-space
that line wrapping makes was not taken into account in subsequent
positioning of point. Fortunately (to use a marker rather than making
incorrect calculations) simplifies the code, so at least there's less to
debug next time!

Bug#522836: zile: Assertion crash in auto-fill-mode

2009-04-06 Thread Tim
Package: zile
Version: 2.3.4-1
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

This bug has been in zile a *long* time, but I have never managed to
either write a detailed enough bug report or get anyone to care.
Previously this crash was a segfault... I guess we're making progress
now that it's an assert() failure... =P

Anyway, sometimes when zile is wrapping a line for me in
auto-fill-mode it crashes. The assertion failure in the current
version is:

zile: astr.c:101: astr_nreplace_cstr: Assertion `pos <= as->len' failed.
Aborted

This typically occurs when I'm wrapping a long line where I have to
hit the space bar several times in order to get it all wrapped,
leaving a long tail of spaces on the line. (It would be nice if
auto-fill-mode behaved more like emacs' where it wraps the entire line
in one go.)

In order to reproduce, see the test.txt and .zile files which I will
attach shortly.

Once you have the .zile in place, run `zile test.txt' and then switch
into auto-fill-mode by typing: M-x auto-fill-mode

Next, go to the end of the long line (C-e) and start hitting space
bar. The assertion fails for me after hitting space 3 times. I'm
guessing this is some kind of integer overflow/underflow but I really
have no idea. I haven't looked at the code.

Thinking deeper, I am sure it doesn't deserve to be "critical".

I agree it deserves to be fixed for lenny, though.

And, as it is fixed in 3.3.1-1, why not mark it as such ?

This looks an AWFUL lot like a broken Mono install. Is
your /etc/mono/config world-readable, and does it contain entries for
intl and msvcrt? What does "which mono" return?

Yeah, a binNMU would be sufficient.
But I plan a new upload of hal the next couple of days anyway, so it's not
strictly needed (and it's called unstable for a reason ;-) )

Due to some upstream changes in the way nsis has plugins built,
win32-loader FTBFS and will need to be adapted. Please see the nsis
README.Debian file for more information about that. The good news is
this is much less ad-hoc than before. Please note that the static
library that plugins need to be built against is unstripped and so it is
very much recommended to strip debug symbols from your plugins to reduce
their size.

I've uploaded a fixed version for unstable and prepared an upload for
lenny to stable-security (0.4.8-14+lenny1) and am just building the
version for oldstable-security (0.4.7-1.1etch2). Shall I just go ahead
and upload them?
Cheers,

Bug#520860: Sorry, ghci is still unsupported on most arches

Sorry, but nothing's changed in this regard between 6.8 and 6.10.
runghc is a wrapper that calls ghci, and the tier 2 platforms with
"GHCi No" listed at http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/ghc/wiki/Platforms
won't have the RTS linker that'd be needed for it. That's all in
rts/Linker.c, in its arch-specific glory.

It's still better to not rely on runghc in build scripts.

Bug#519402: Tracking down #519402

2009-04-06 Thread Christian Perrier
Hello,

In #519402, it was reported that backups done with backuppc with the
SMB backup method were failing because of a possible bug in smbclient.

Guillaume Royer mentioned that upgrading samba-common to the version
from unstable (as of March 12th, it was 3.3.1-1) fixed the problem.

I have a few questions:

- Guillaume, I assume you not only upgraded samba-common but also
smbclient, right ?

- Are any of you able to try using the samba packages from
lenny-proposed-updates:

deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ lenny-proposed-updates contrib non-free main

There is a pending change to samba packages that fixes the following:

  * Correct usage of 'du' command in smbclient. Closes: #514703

That's maybe unrelated but I'd like to check this.

That bug will be tricky to investigate and I don't want to just mark
it "fixed in unstable" and downgrade it to important without firther
discussion. I'm not sure it is deserving the critical priority,
though, as I think it doesn't lead to data loss, just backup failures
*with notice*, which is different.

Package: gnuplot
Version: 4.2.4-6
Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

Hello,

The package gnuplot fails to build on many architectures [1]. For
example, on mipsel, it fails with:

> dvips -j0 ps_fontfile_doc

> /nonexistent/.dvipsrc: Permission denied
> This is dvips(k) 5.96.1 Copyright 2007 Radical Eye Software

> make[1]: *** [ps_fontfile_doc.ps] Error 1
> make[1]: Leaving directory `/build/buildd/gnuplot-4.2.4/docs/psdoc'

[1] https://buildd.debian.org/~luk/status/package.php?suite=&p=gnuplot

There are similar errors on armel and sparc.

The file cm-super-t1.enc is provided by the package cm-super-minimal,
and having it installed makes the build succeed (at least on armel).

I guess this build-dependency is missing, but I still wonder why build
succeeded on many other architectures.

Cheers,

I suspect you've reopened the wrong bug since this is fixed and builds
fine on all architectures? If you disagree please provide more information

The fix for the build failure on i386 is in my VCS already. There's
another more obscure one on armel that I need to address, still.

I suspect that your fix was only necessary due to #520410 sitting on
the TeX Live packages. I believe (but I'm not 100% sure) that B-D on
cm-super is not necessary.

However you're right: I should file a new bug to remove that B-D as
soon as TL is fixed.

It also seems that libpetsc3.0.0-lam-dev is not mentioned in the
control file and probably generated during build. Don't do that.
The control file should contain all binary packages you that
source package is going to upload to the archive.

Bug#522811: xine-lib: heap-based buffer overflow due to integer overflow in quicktime atom parsing

2009-04-06 Thread Nico Golde
Source: xine-lib
Severity: grave
Tags: security patch

Hi,
Tobias Klein discovered an integer overflow in the quicktime
STTS atom processing that leads to a heap-based buffer
overflow probably resulting in arbitrary code execution.

As you are also upstream of xine I expect you are aware of:
http://trapkit.de/advisories/TKADV2009-005.txt.

You fixed this bug in 1.1.16.3.

A few words from my side, I expect you to contact the
security team in case you get notified of a security issue
in xine in the future as it's not nice to see other people
notifying us while we our Debian maintainer is also the
upstream. Sorry but this workflow sucks! Debian can allocate
CVE ids if you need them and I see no reason why a fixed
package is not already in unstable.

If you fix the vulnerability please also make sure to include the
CVE id in your changelog entry if we get one in time.

Cheers
Nico

Hi Peter,

I just wanted to let you know that WashNGo 2.12 no longer builds with
current GHC and Parsec:

[20 of 76] Compiling WASH.Mail.RFC2822 ( WASH/Mail/RFC2822.hs,
dist/build/WASH/Mail/RFC2822.o )

WASH/Mail/RFC2822.hs:18:11:
No instance for (Text.Parsec.Prim.Stream s1 m1 Char)
arising from a use of `noneOf' at WASH/Mail/RFC2822.hs:18:11-23
Possible fix:
  add an instance declaration for
  (Text.Parsec.Prim.Stream s1 m1 Char)
In the expression: noneOf "\n\r"
In the definition of `lineChar': lineChar = noneOf "\n\r"

WASH/Mail/RFC2822.hs:19:17:
No instance for (Text.Parsec.Prim.Stream s m Char)
arising from a use of `noneOf' at WASH/Mail/RFC2822.hs:19:17-30
Possible fix:
add an instance declaration for (Text.Parsec.Prim.Stream s m
Char)
In the expression: noneOf "\n\r:"
In the definition of `headerNameChar':
headerNameChar = noneOf "\n\r:"
dh_haskell_build: ./setup returned exit code 1

Incidentally, it might be nice to see this uploaded to Hackage too.

Thanks,

Package: xmahjongg
Version: 3.7-2
Justification: renders package unusable
Severity: grave

With the version 3.7-2 it is not possible to use any layout file.
The resulting message is "xmahjongg: layout arena corrupted".

I compared the layout files with the files from xmahjongg_3.7-1.1
but there is no difference.

The layout files from 3.7-2 work fine with /usr/games/xmahjongg from 3.7-1.1.

Package: qct
Version: 1.5-1

Hi,

The qct rules file contains the following:

binary-install/qct::
…
install -d $(DEB_DESTDIR)/usr/share/python-support/qct/hgext
install -m 644 \
plugins/qct.py \
$(DEB_DESTDIR)/usr/share/python-support/qct/hgext/qct.py

With the upcoming version of python-support (currently in experimental),
such statements will make the package FTBFS, since the files are now
moved to a different directory (/usr/share/pyshared).

I suggest to do these things before the dh_pysupport call, and from the
standard installation directory:

install/qct::
mkdir -p $(DEB_DESTDIR)/usr/lib/`pyversions -d`/site-packages/qct/hgext
…

As a general rule, please do not rely on the internals of python-support
in the packaging; this will avoid such issues in the future (although
hopefully there won’t be a need to change the paths any further).

Thanks,

Hello,

I'm just updating calibre, but it does not build any more:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "setup.py", line 50, in
from pyqtdistutils import PyQtExtension, build_ext, Extension

http://packages.debian.org/file:pyqtconfig.py still says that this was
shipped in python-qt4-dev once, but now I can't find it in either
python-qt4 or python-qt4-dev.

Please bring it back.

Thank you!

Well, that was weird. I can't quite figure out exactly how this bug
has lain unnoticed until now; it was an assumption about the way feof()
and fgets() work that ought to have been discovered sooner. I fixed it,
and prepared a new xmahjongg-3.7-3 package up on mentors.d.n:
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/x/xmahjongg/xmahjongg_3.7-3.dsc

Now here's hoping it'll be reviewed and uploaded by a DD from
the Games Team :) (tolimar? :) or am I taxing him too much? :)

Again, sorry for not testing different layouts while preparing 3.7-2.
I just kinda assumed that nothing in my changes should break them :)

G'luck,
Peter

Bug#522502: fftw3 - FTBFS: makeinfo: command not found

2009-04-06 Thread Paul Brossier
Hi Bastian,

The problem is that texinfo is in Build-Depends-Indep, whereas the .texi
patch triggers the documentation build from build-arch.

One way to fix this is to move texinfo to Build-Depends, but I am not
convinced this is the best way to do that.

cheers, piem

Bug#522477: inkscape: FTBFS: pngconf.h:328: error: expected constructor, destructor, or type conversion before '.' token

2009-04-06 Thread Wolfram Quester
Hi Aníbal and the libpng maintatiners,

Kurt Roeckx submitted the bug against inkscape cited below.
The error occurs in a file from the libpng-dev package, though,
so I think the bug lies somewhere in libpng.

Do you have any suggestions or comments on this?

Thanks,

Wolfi

Bug#522777: mksh: FTBFS on hurd-i386: dependencies fail to install (locales-all)

2009-04-06 Thread Thorsten Glaser
Package: mksh
Version: 37.2-1
Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

http://buildd.debian-ports.org/fetch.php?pkg=mksh&arch=hurd-i386&ver=37.2-1&stamp=1238962232&file=log&as=raw

mksh cannot build on hurd-i386 because locales-all fails to install.

This either needs to be fixed in #274699 or some different means to
obtain a UTF-8 capable locale needs to be obtained: see #522776

Morten's suggestion of a rename to purcell_plink (or plink_purcell) seems
reasonable to me. snplink I find strange and as it was mentioned in the initial
thread,
there an earlier program with that name.

In your view, I know.

I know what you mean.

If _I_ was upstream, with a program that has such a strong name in the
community, I would
not change it lightheartedly. PLINK would certainly remain PLINK, the only
chance I'd see
is that upstream leaves the name PLINK for its software and renames the binary
alone and
then towards something that is very similar to the old one, maybe p_link or so.
But this
should possibly be synced with a general API overhaul or so.

The conflict in my view is a problem of Debian or of UNIX in general, not of
either of the
two plinks. We should have namespaces of some sort and not everything in one
directory.

Best,

Steffen

Bug#518858: tnftp: FTBFS: 'ARG_MAX' undeclared

2009-04-06 Thread peter green

+#ifndef ARG_MAX

The above is clearly wrong, _SC_ARG_MAX is a selection parameter for
sysconf not a usefull value in itself.

If you want to go down this road it should be

#ifndef ARG_MAX
#define ARG_MAX (sysconf(_SC_ARG_MAX))
#endif

I googled a little bit and found only these two main differences:

- the sort order has changed
  * bibtex: 0-9,A-Z,a-z
  * bibtex8: 0-9,A,a,B,b,C etc.
- bibtex8 returns exit code 1 in case of warnings.

I propose to remove the old bibtex binary and document that change
prominently in the NEWS file.

Bug#522764: petsc-dev: uninstallable on many arches

2009-04-06 Thread Adeodato Simó
Package: petsc-dev
Version: 3.0.0.dfsg-1
Severity: serious

Hello,

there is a problem with petsc-dev that is making all packages
build-depending on it FTBFS on several architectures.

petsc-dev is an arch:all package that depends on libpetsc3.0.0-dev.
However, as you are undoubtedly aware, libpetsc3.0.0-dev is not available
on all architectures, and in many of them only libpetsc3.0.0-lam-dev is.

The libpetsc3.0.0-lam-dev package Provides: petsc3.0.0-dev, but this is
not enough to make petsc-dev installable on those architectures, hence
rendering reverse build-dependencies unbuildable.

Please make libpetsc3.0.0-lam-dev Provide: libpetsc3.0.0-dev, or
(preferable IMHO) make petsc-dev an arch:any package that Depends: on
libpetsc3.0.0-dev or libpetsc3.0.0-lam-dev as appropriate.

Thanks,

Grrr. Seems like I kinda botched this one... repeatedly. Apologies

The gdb warning and the args passed to IA__g_utf16_to_utf8 look like
either a corrupt stack (e.g. stack being overwritten by program) or gdb
getting confused. If you're reporting a bug in an app you compile
yourself calling into glib and you believe glib is wrong, please send a
test case. If you care about iceweasel etc., try the Debian binaries
and copy the config of the Debian packages as a start: these don't seem
 to trigger SIBGUS.

The "dragon" layout works for me (and looks vaguely
dragon-shaped). The others I've tried are declared to be corrupt
(including arena, ceremonial, hourglass, ram and snake).

The default layout works, which you get by running xmahjongg
without the --layout argument.

I can replicate, so here's the usual reportbug architecture and
dependencies.

I'm trying to build seamonkey 1.1.15 from sources (I don't like
iceweasel,
I prefered iceape, and note that iceweasel hangs with a SIGBUS too).

I have fixed some misalignments in seamonkey sources (specially in
nsTextFrame.cpp). Now, when I launch seamonkey, I obtain a beautiful SIGBUS that
comes from libglib :

rayleigh:[~/seamonkey] > seamonkey

I have tried to investigate without any success, but I'm pretty sure
that
this bug doesn't come from seamonkey itself.

Regards,

JKB

It’s clearly not a bug in GLib to crash if you pass it 0x1 with length
-189498872 as a UTF16 string.
