This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violate
section 7.6.1 of the policy. Possible solutions are to have the two
packages conflict, to rename the common file in one of the two
packages, or to remove the file from one package and have this package
depend on the other package. File diversions or a Replace relation are
another possibility.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

  usr/lib/debug/usr/lib/bognor-regis/bognor-regis-daemon

This bug is assigned to both packages. If you, the maintainers of
the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will
resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package.

-Ralf.

of this kind see http://edos.debian.net/file-overwrites/.

Hi
   Version 2.3.2 doesn't build from source and
the binary packages break the eric IDE. However
version 2.4 in experimental works perfectly so
if that version could be uploaded to unstable,
my problems would be solved.

This package is uninstallable, due to a dependency on artsbuilder, which doesn't

Bug#558042: grub-common: Additional information

2009-11-26 Thread junior
Package: grub-common
Severity: normal

Hi,

I reproduce this bug here on my sid box.

>From what I was able to verify here, it seems this is a problem with the
grub-mkrelpath application. As far as I could see, it was recently
modified on grub suite (it was a piece of shell script and now is an
executable).

Using the verification method ('stat -c %d ') from
make_system_path_relative_to_its_root() function found in
/usr/lib/grub/grub-mkconfig_lib on grub-common-1.97~beta3-1 and
comparing with the new grub-mkrelpath output:

jun...@sister:~$ stat -c %d /boot/
2049
jun...@sister:~$ stat -c %d /boot/..
65024
jun...@sister:~$ grub-mkrelpath /boot/
/boot

As already mentioned, this is not reproducible in my other machine running
debian testing (grub-common-1.97~beta3-1).

Thanks, and please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Bug#558204: python-psycopg2da: uninstallable: still depends on the monolithic zope3 package

2009-11-26 Thread Simon McVittie
Package: python-psycopg2da
Version: 2.0.13-1
Severity: serious
Justification: uninstallable in sid

The zope3 package in sid seem to have been removed in favour of various
separate library packages. However, python-psycopg2da still depends on zope3,
rendering it uninstallable in sid.

(This is one of a few packages preventing zope3's removal from testing;
the others are versioned dependencies on python-zopeinterface that could be
solved with a transitional package.)

This might also be a good time to reconsider the zope-psycopgda2 package's
dependencies, or remove it entirely; the first of its alternative dependencies
(zope2.12) appears not to be in Debian any more (if it ever existed), although
zope2.11 and zope2.10 still exist.

Simon

Bug#555036: Randomly breaks commands

2009-11-26 Thread Tim Retout
tags 555036 confirmed
kthxbye

I am seeing this as well. Here's how to reproduce it reliably:

Open a new terminal.
cd /tmp
apt-get source hello
rm hello* -rf

This is the error:

rm: missing operand
Try `rm --help' for more information.
bash: hello-2.4: command not found

It doesn't happen when the command is run a second time; just the first
time in a new terminal.

Based on this, and the fact that joy2key works for me too (when run with
-dev /dev/input/js0), I don't think this bug is release-critical, so I'm
dropping the severity of this bug to important.

Upstream release 1.6.3 apparently fixes this, as well as picking up many
pending patches from Debian and other distributions; it would probably be
well worth packaging.

Bug#556867: cups-pdf: strong kerning errors

2009-11-26 Thread micu
Hello Volker,

thanks for your answer. I didn't want blame you in any way!

The only thing that still confuses me: I get similar kerning errors when
printing out from Konqueror, Chrome or Arora. I get the best result with
Chrome and the worst with Firefox and Konqueror, but still these kerning
errors are present in all of them.

So, it must be sth. deeper, even if it is not cups-pdf (sorry again, this was
my first thought).

How would you recommend to proceed? Because these errors are really annoying.

Kind regards, micu

Hello

i am reading unstable-changes with interest. Today i came across a
change in ntp unstable:

---  snip  ---
* Running as user ntp does not work on kfreebsd because it doesn't support
 capabilities. Adjust the init script to start as root.
---  snip  ---

digging into the initscript i came across the fact that :

---  snip  ---
HOST_OS=$(dpkg-architecture -qDEB_HOST_ARCH_OS)
RUNASUSER=ntp
if test "$HOST_OS" = "kfreebsd"; then
RUNASUSER=root
fi

is beeing used for that.

I think this will not work because dpkg-architecture is from the package
dpkg-dev and isn't installed everywhere.
IMHO 'dpkg --print-architecture' is a better replacement?

PS. I am using Lenny not sid.

Bug#558175: Should phpix be removed?

2009-11-26 Thread Moritz Muehlenhoff
Package: phpix
Severity: serious

Dear Maintainer,
While reviewing some packages, your package came up as a possible
candidate for removal from Debian, because:

* Inactive upstream. (#257855)
* Unmaintained (last upload in 2007)
* Mostly unused according to popcon
* Compatibility problems with at IE and Opera (#248169)

If you disagree and want to continue to maintain this package, please
just close this bug and do an upload also fixing the other issues.

If you agree that it should be removed, send the following commands to
cont...@bugs.debian.org (replace nn with this bug's number):

retitle nn RM:  -- RoM;

Bug#556597: cclive: diff for NMU version 0.5.3-1.1

2009-11-26 Thread Simon McVittie
tags 556597 + patch
thanks

It seems that with the build dependency changed as Adrian suggested, cclive
works fine. All the tests in `make -C tests check` pass, except for sevenload
which fails with a HTTP 401 error (not a regression - it does that when
built against OpenSSL too). I've uploaded an NMU to DELAYED/3; please let
me know if you want me to cancel it or delay it further.

In the process of preparing the NMU, I imported cclive into a git repository
for my own convenience. If you want to use that as a starting point for
maintaining it in git (perhaps in the collab-maint directory), you're welcome
to do so - you can get it from here:

git clone git://git.debian.org/users/smcv/nmu/cclive.git
http://git.debian.org/?p=users/smcv/nmu/cclive.git (gitweb)

Simon

You are using apt-listchanges, right?
This NEWS file is displayed by apt-listchanges
I really don't see anything wrong on the NEWS file.

CCing Pierre as he maintains apt-listchanges (and maybe could spot
something wrong on my NEWS file or some known problem with
apt-listchanges).

Thank you!

Best regards,
Nelson

In the mean time xpdf has been removed from squeeze, so that has been
resolved in another way.

Bug#558167: xindy: Missing dependency: clisp

2009-11-26 Thread Michael Piefel
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Package: xindy
Version: 2.4~pre1-2

Justification: renders package unusable

Without clisp installed, xindy will not work at all.

(At least texindy won’t, I cannot check other engines. Perhaps some
other Lisp environment works as well, but as far I understood the Perl
script, clisp is hard-coded.)

2009-11-26 Thread richard
Package: libmagickcore2-extra
Version: libmagickcore2-7:6.5.7.8-1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

apt-get install --reinstall imagemagic crashes when the changelog process
terminates with this message
imagemagick (7:6.5.5.3-1exp1) experimental; urgency=low

  The SVG, WMF, OpenEXR, DjVu and Graphviz coders have been moved to a new
  package, libmagickcore2-extra. In order to use some of these coders with
  Imagemagick you will need to install it (if recommended packages aren't
  installed by default in your system).

I tried to install the package via dselect with similar results and a longer
message.

The install process had to be manually terminated.

Severity: serious
Package: torsocks
Version: 1.0~delta-1
User: debian-rele...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: nonfree-doc rfc

Hi!

This source package contains the following files from the
IETF under non-free license terms:

  torsocks-1.0-delta/doc/SOCKS5-rfc1928.txt

The license on RFC/I-Ds is not DFSG-free, see:
 * http://bugs.debian.org/199810
 * http://release.debian.org/removing-non-free-documentation
 * http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

The lenny/squeeze release policy says binary and source packages must each be
free:
 * http://release.debian.org/lenny/rc_policy.txt
 * http://release.debian.org/squeeze/rc_policy.txt

The severity is serious, because this violates the Debian policy:
 * http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#s-dfsg

There are (at least) three ways to fix this problem. In order of
preference:

1. Ask the author of the RFC to re-license the RFC under a free
   license. A template for this e-mail request can be found at
   http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

2. Remove the non-free material from the source, e.g., by re-packaging
   the upstream archive and adding 'dfsg' to the Debian package
   version name.

3. Move the package to non-free.

General discussions are kindly requested to take place on debian-legal
or debian-devel in the thread with Subject: "Non-free IETF RFC/I-Ds in
source packages".

Thanks,
Simon

How could that possibly work given that mountall.sh runs after hwclockfirst.sh
and hwclock.sh, i.e. when /var is on a separate file system.

Bug#557992: grub-pc: Booting is completely broken

2009-11-26 Thread Jonathan Guthrie
I don't know how it happened, either, but this bug bit me, too.

I upgraded my amd64 architecture laptop from ftp.us.debian.org around
7 AM CST (13:00 or so UTC) and was unable to come out of hibernation
later.

Bug#558042: confirming

2009-11-26 Thread Patrick Winnertz
Hey,

I can also confirm that bug, after a recent upgrade the path to the initrd and
vmlinuz was wrong a /boot/ was added before. Removing /boot/ from the path
worked without any problems.

I've /boot on a separate partition, if this helps (/dev/sda1), /dev/sda2 is my
root-filesystem.

Greetings
Winnie

I fixed this now. I wonder if there is a way to only syntax-check the

Bug#558118: Source package contains non-free IETF RFC/I-D

2009-11-26 Thread Simon Josefsson
Severity: serious
Package: torsocks
Version: 1.0~delta-1
User: debian-rele...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: nonfree-doc rfc

Hi!

This source package contains the following files from the
IETF under non-free license terms:

  torsocks-1.0-delta/doc/SOCKS5-rfc1928.txt

The license on RFC/I-Ds is not DFSG-free, see:
 * http://bugs.debian.org/199810
 * http://release.debian.org/removing-non-free-documentation
 * http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

The lenny/squeeze release policy says binary and source packages must each be
free:
 * http://release.debian.org/lenny/rc_policy.txt
 * http://release.debian.org/squeeze/rc_policy.txt

The severity is serious, because this violates the Debian policy:
 * http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#s-dfsg

Thanks,
Simon

Please describe in more detail, what you were doing that led to this segfault,
if it is reproducible (always) and how console-kit-daemon comes into play here.
Is it hal that segfaults or console-kit-daemon. If the latter, why did you file
it against hal?

It would also help, if you could get a meaningful backtrace of the crashing
program [1]

As I don't see a justification for a critical bug I'm downgrading it.

Michael

Bug#558042: [grub-pc] Confirming this report

2009-11-26 Thread Muammar El Khatib
Package: grub-pc
Version: 1.97+20091125-1

Hi,

I can confirm this bug. My machine wasn't able to boot using the entries found
in grub.cfg. So that, I proceeded to boot manually and the process was
successful. Then, I stumble into this bug, and I changed the entry for my
current kernel from:

menuentry "Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.31-1-amd64" {
insmod ext2
set root=(hd0,1)
search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 0e6da3bc-9422-423b-8fd6-7c525a939fa9
linux   /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-1-amd64 root=/dev/mapper/obey-root ro
quiet
initrd  /boot/initrd.img-2.6.31-1-amd64

}

to

menuentry "Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.31-1-amd64" {
insmod ext2
set root=(hd0,1)
search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 0e6da3bc-9422-423b-8fd6-7c525a939fa9
linux   /vmlinuz-2.6.31-1-amd64 root=/dev/mapper/obey-root ro  quiet
initrd  /initrd.img-2.6.31-1-amd64
}

And my machine was able to boot again.

Considering the bootstraptest takes ~200 more time than other tests on other
archs
too, this test should probably have bigger timeout than others.

thanks a lot, it indeed helps a lot while too busy upstream.
I've just restarted yesterday to process my Debian stack (with
powerman and pwrkap).
so it will take me a bit more time to complete the nut part...

190.42 is in unstable, and hopefully has all the fixes from 180.51, so I think
this is probably fixed in unstable (and will be fixed in testing soon,
when the package migrates). Could you confirm?

If this version does close this bug, please bounce this mail to

Justification: FTBFS on amd64

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on
amd64.

In eglibc <= 2.9, getline was only defined if _GNU_SOURCE was defined.
In eglibc 2.10, getline is always defined (since it became a standard in
POSIX2008). The problem is that your package already has a function
named getline(), which now conflicts with glibc's. You need to rename
your function to something else.
Ubuntu already fixed many occurences of your problem, so it is possible
that an Ubuntu patch is available for your package. Look at the PTS to
find out.

Package: gastables
Version: 0.2-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

when started on my system as described below, gastables opens a dialog
saying:

This application requires a version of wxPython greater than or
equal to 2.8, but a matching version was not found.

You currently have these version(s) installed: 2.6-gtk2-unicode

it then offers to download a new version of wxpython.

as can be seen below, gastables currently depends on python-wxgtk2.6.

i tried manually installing python-wxgtk2.8, but then, starting
gastables ended throwing deprecation warnings and finally an

thanks

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for nut (versioned as 2.4.1-3.2) and uploaded it to
DELAYED/2, according to devref §5.11.1. The patch is based on
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=531220#35 , but is a
bit more permissive about placement of "MODE=" in nut.conf (still avoid
acting on "MODE" reported in the descriptive comment).

Hope this helps,
Cheers.
