Bug#566842: [Patch] Use Python's BASEMODLIBS for linking
Bram, Vim's configure script currently extracts the value of MODLIBS from Python's config/Makefile as part of the process for determining which libraries to link against when building if_python.c. As described below, this is problematic as LOCALMODLIBS (which MODLIBS includes) is only supposed to be used when building the Python interpreter. As such, it may link in extra libraries than are actually needed for Vim's use of Python. I've attached Michael Bienia's patch which updates configure.in to use BASEMODLIBS instead of MODLIBS. On Mon, Jan 25, 2010 at 03:03:51PM +0100, Michael Bienia wrote: > Hello, > > vim's configure script uses MODLIBS from python's config/Makefile to > know to link against which libs. Jens is the _upstream_ maintainer, so in a good position to know when a fix will be released. He has release several test candidates so far. I am the Debian Developper for XForms, and have a lintian-clean debian directory ready for the next release with a soname bump. I test-packaged the last candidate and built the xcolmix package that depens on libforms without issues. > My appologies for breaking > the packages you maintain! Bug#582312: (no subject)
Another update. It doesn't work, not even by invoking dkms directly. I mistakenly invoked dkms after I rebooted into a 2.6.32-4-686 kernel. It built the fglrx module for 2.6.32-5-amd64 but it wasn't the right format. Invoking directly dkms with 2.6.32-5-amd64 running doesn't even end the compilation. This is what I get: # dkms build -m fglrx -v 10-4 -k 2.6.32-5-amd64 Kernel preparation unnecessary for this kernel. Skipping... Building module: cleaning build area pushd /var/lib/dkms/fglrx/10-4/build; sh make.sh --nohints --norootcheck; popd. Error! Sadly I haven't been using vtun for more than > a year, so I don't see this kind of things. I will patch this asap > I should clearify this report somewhat, guided by a recent discussion at debian-ipv6. The malfunction arises if '/etc/resolv.conf' is altered by inserting a statement "options inet6", since then gethostbyname() abandons true POSIX specification. I originally overlook this distinction, since I use this setting in my network. My patch ensures the expected functionality in both cases: with and without that "options inet6". Since the patch is fairly non-intrusive it would be good to use it, although my phrasing "completely broken" was not true in every sense as I have now learned to appreciate! Right now, as I'm writing this message > 'C-h v flavor' (describe-variable 'flavor) generates an error. Hey Antonio, Thanks for the quick response! I can reproduce with the additional information. I would still say that this is not release critical, though annoying since most emacs users rarely restart emacs. I'm going to downgrade the bug, but I'll prepare an NMU with the fix anyway (to DELAYED/2 so the maintainer has a chance to disagree), since the change is trivial. Do feel free to report similar bugs (I would recommend severity: normal or perhaps severity:important) against other packages that fail to use debian-flavor-emacs. regards, Christine -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Hello I had the same trouble, but I solved it. Are you sure that your user (the one who try to run virt-manager) is in the group 'libvirt' ? if not a simple 'adduser libvirt' will solve it. (don't forget to restart the X-session of the user after added in the right group) I founded that info on http://wiki.debian.org/KVM. Regards, Laurent

The dependency on python2.5-sip4 is picked up by som trickery in debian/rules. there is python2.5-sip now, provided by python-sip, and tehre is also a dh_sip tool to help getting sip dependencies right. Bug#582275: linux-image-2.6.32-bpo.4-686: ext3 filesystem corruption with md RAID1 on Seagate disks
Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.32-11~bpo50+1 Severity: critical Justification: causes serious data loss I keep getting ext3 filesystem corruptions on one of my md RAID1 arrays. Shortly after booting, I get messages like the following one: EXT3-fs error (device md1): htree_dirblock_to_tree: bad entry in directory #17269110: rec_len is smaller than minimal - offset=0, inode=0, rec_len=0, name_len=0 This forces an automatic fsck at the next reboot that fails. The manual fsck.ext3 -y /dev/md1 takes a long time but manages to get a clean FS again. After the reboot, it takes just a few minutes until the first of these messages appear again. The two disks used in the RAID1 md device are both Seagate ST31000528AS that show no errors in long and short SMART test and Seatools. Memtest shows no memory problems. Two other RAID1 systems connected to the same Intel Ibex Peak 6 port SATA AHCI Controller (rev 06) show no such problems. A RAID5 with 4 Seagate ST3750640AS on a Promise PDC40718 (SATA 300 TX4) also works without problems in the same system. I saw that sata_sil.c has a blacklist that includes mainly Seagate drives but do not know if this is related to my problem since my system uses an Intel SATA controller. -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 2.6.32-bpo.4-686 (Debian 2.6.32-11~bpo50+1) (norb...@tretkowski.de) (gcc version 4.3.2 (Debian 4.3.2-1.1) ) #1 SMP Mon Apr 12 16:20:13 UTC 2010 ** Command line: root=UUID=a059fdf2-4ff6-4c30-ba7f-77c85e7f5d1b ro quiet splash ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: [9.619225] md0: detected capacity change from 0 to 2250460889088 [9.619426] md: md1 stopped. Bug#581227: mpg123-el: cannot reproduce this bug
I took a look at this bug today after perusing the RC bugs list for Squeeze, and, while it does seem that debian-emacs-flavor is the documented correct variable, I can't seem to reproduce it *not* working while using flavor. (I tried using emacs23, emacs22, and xemacs21). There are several other packages, such as slime and gtk-doc-utils that also use the 'flavor' symbol. Can you be more specific as to what doesn't work right now, and how to verify? IMHO, this bug should probably be downgraded as well, since it doesn't cause the package to be completely useless. cheers, Christine -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#533164: Isn't there a good reason to build from git HEAD?
http://lists.laiskiainen.org/pipermail/apt-rpm-laiskiainen.org/2010-May/thread.html, raises serious questions about the upstream version apt-rpm. I just tried to help with an RC bug. I don't use it myself. I think that actual users of apt-rpm.deb should comment. http://lists.laiskiainen.org/pipermail/apt-rpm-laiskiainen.org/2010-May/000916.html has a suggestion on building from git HEAD. I think that substituting int_32 with int32_t in ../apt-pkg/rpm/rpmhandler.{cc,h} will partially solve the building difficulty with the current source. There is no need to make that substitution in ../include/apt-pkg/rpmhandler.h, because that file is copied during the build from ../apt-pkg/rpm/rpmhandler.h. It could be that similar patches can make the current Debian source build-able. As I wrote, I don't know how useful the resulting package will be. _ Hotmail: Trusted email with Microsoft’s powerful SPAM protection. https://signup.live.com/signup.aspx?id=60969 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
