Bug#582351: libffi-dev: Installs headers into /usr/include/i486-linux-gnu

2010-05-19 Thread Robert Ancell
Package: libffi-dev
Version: 3.0.9-2
Severity: grave
Tags: squeeze
Justification: renders package unusable

Header files are installed in /usr/include/i486-linux-gnu/ (and
similarly named directories on other architectures), not
/usr/include. Stops pygobject from compiling.

Agreed, I've fixed this in the 0.6.2-1 coffeescript package release (on
mentors.debian.net, still waiting for my sponsor to upload it), please
reassign to coffeescript and invalidate for cakephp-scripts accordingly
if the package upload doesn't do it automatically.

one necessary library (libhdf5_fortran.so). Recommend dropping HDF5
support on LAM arches.

Bug#566842: [Patch] Use Python's BASEMODLIBS for linking

2010-05-19 Thread James Vega
Bram,

Vim's configure script currently extracts the value of MODLIBS from
Python's config/Makefile as part of the process for determining which
libraries to link against when building if_python.c.

As described below, this is problematic as LOCALMODLIBS (which MODLIBS
includes) is only supposed to be used when building the Python
interpreter. As such, it may link in extra libraries than are actually
needed for Vim's use of Python.

I've attached Michael Bienia's patch which updates configure.in to use
BASEMODLIBS instead of MODLIBS.

What kind of accounts, how do you connect, etc. Anything which could
help tracking down the bug. A backtrace from gdb would help too/

Try evolution --disable-preview too

It might be related to #582192 so take a look at it.

Jens is the _upstream_ maintainer, so in a good position to know when a
fix will be released. He has release several test candidates so far.

I am the Debian Developper for XForms, and have a lintian-clean debian
directory ready for the next release with a soname bump. I
test-packaged the last candidate and built the xcolmix package that
depens on libforms without issues.

Adam isn't maintaining packages related to XForms. He is coordinating
the next Debian release.

As to your other question Adam, a simple rebuild will be sufficient for
the other packages, I will do xwatch, xplot, xcolmix and jazip myself
and will file bugs for the others. kali will get this bug (#558025)
back as soon as I upload libforms2.

(And this all will happen soon, before my old key is no longer accepted
by Debian.)

Thanks,
Peter

Bug#579917: mkhomedir segfaults within ld.so on startup

The problem is that the mkhomedir_helper is built as a library, using a
version-script. This lead to:

  0x7016 (MIPS_RLD_MAP) 0

Removing --version-script while linking the binary fixes the problem:

  0x7016 (MIPS_RLD_MAP) 0x413a50

I agree that ld.so should not segfault in that case, I'll try to write a
patch for that, but I don't think the bug is still serious anymore on
the eglibc side.

Bug#582312: (no subject)

2010-05-19 Thread john terragon
Another update.

It doesn't work, not even by invoking dkms directly. I mistakenly invoked dkms
after I rebooted into a 2.6.32-4-686 kernel. It built the fglrx module for
2.6.32-5-amd64 but it wasn't the right format.

Invoking directly dkms with 2.6.32-5-amd64 running doesn't even end the
compilation. This is what I get:

# dkms build -m fglrx -v 10-4 -k 2.6.32-5-amd64

Kernel preparation unnecessary for this kernel. Skipping...

Building module:
cleaning build area
pushd /var/lib/dkms/fglrx/10-4/build; sh make.sh --nohints --norootcheck;
popd.

Error! Build of fglrx.ko failed for: 2.6.32-5-amd64 (x86_64)
Consult the make.log in the build directory
/var/lib/dkms/fglrx/10-4/build/ for more information.

The make.log file doesn't say anything but the make.sh.log file says this:

I've seen that it crashes also at many other "places" e.g. with some

For now I've disabled pthread support on s390 and the testsuite passed
on zelenka just fine.

I'm reassigning this bug to the glibc as it is *very* likely to be a
synchronization issue, not unlike the missing memory constraints we had
2 years ago.

Hi,

the following CVE (Common Vulnerabilities & Exposures) id was
published for krb5.

CVE-2010-1321[0]:
| Certain invalid GSS-API tokens can cause a GSS-API acceptor (server)
| to crash due to a null pointer dereference in the GSS-API library.
|
| This is an implementation vulnerability in MIT krb5, and not a
| vulnerability in the Kerberos protocol.
|
| An authenticated remote attacker can cause a GSS-API application
| server (including the Kerberos administration daemon kadmind) to crash
| by sending a malformed GSS-API token that induces a null pointer
| dereference.

If you fix the vulnerability please also make sure to include the
CVE id in your changelog entry.

There is a new upstream release which fixes these issues.

2010-05-19 Thread john terragon
Quick update.

The module doesn't build if dkms is invoked via
dpkg-reconfigure fglrx-modules-dkms.

If dkms is invoked directly then the module is built and installed correctly

dkms build -m fglrx -v 10-4 -k 2.6.32-5-amd64
dkms install -m fglrx -v 10-4 -k 2.6.32-5-amd64

Sorry if I wasn't clear. What I meant was to use Celejar suggestion
and don't set the option so privoxy will use the default
127.0.0.1:8118 instead of localhost:1881.

> Could you please send me the output of the commands
>  netstat -tlnp | grep privoxy

With localhost:1881 commented out (so privoxy uses 127.0.0.1:1881):
# netstat -tinp | grep privoxy
tcp0 0 127.0.0.1:8118 0.0.0.0:*
LISTEN 5224/privoxy

And the package default of localhost:1881:
# netstat -tinp | grep privoxy
tcp6   0  0 ::1:8118:::*
LISTEN 14848/privoxy

> In addition to this the output of

# grep localhost /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost ip6-localhost ip6-loopback

Reasonably fresh ;-). A few months old.

Are you sure that your user (the one who try to run virt-manager) is

I founded that info on http://wiki.debian.org/KVM.

Thanks. Yes, I already found that out myself. The installer could give a
warning to that effect, or make libvirt part of the users group, since
qemu-kvm doesn't require joining any special group.

I'm one of the maintainers of XForms. My appologies for breaking
the packages you maintain! And, yes, I'm all set for a new release
that should fix the bug. I hope that I will be able to do so on
next Sunday (Mai 23rd), of course always under the condition that
no new show-stopper bugs get found in the meantime...

It says to go check make.log for details but that file is empty.

I should clearify this report somewhat, guided by a recent discussion at
debian-ipv6.
The malfunction arises if '/etc/resolv.conf' is altered by inserting a statement
"options inet6", since then gethostbyname() abandons true POSIX specification.
I originally overlook this distinction, since I use this setting in my network.

My patch ensures the expected functionality in both cases: with and without
that "options inet6". Since the patch is fairly non-intrusive it would be good
to use it, although my phrasing "completely broken" was not true in every sense
as I have now learned to appreciate!

I was not able to reproduce the original crash with the vanilla (lib)mpg123.

I can reproduce the crash reliably with the CFLAGS and LDFLAGS from
Daniel's mail.

The minimal change to make the crash go away is to remove "-pie" from
LDFLAGS.

I'm attaching a log of my attempts.

Has there been any further update on the new upstream release? I note
from the bug that the hopeful timeframe was "within the next couple of
weeks" about a week and a half ago, so apologies for chasing but it
would be good to know whether this transition is imminent.

Will any of the packages require sourceful changes, and should binNMUs
suffice?

Regards,

Adam

No problem here to build kwave_0.8.2-{4,5} on amd64/sid. The modification
between 0.8.2-3 and 0.8.2-4 can hardly have anything to do with this.
What is your build environment?

Bug#582290: petsc: FTBFS on LAM arches

2010-05-19 Thread Adam C Powell IV

PETSc is FTBFS on LAM arches because libhdf5-lam-dev is missing at least
one necessary library (libhdf5_fortran.so). Recommend dropping HDF5
support on LAM arches.

Hey Antonio,

Thanks for the quick response! I can reproduce with the
additional information. I would still say that this is not
release critical, though annoying since most emacs users
rarely restart emacs.

I'm going to downgrade the bug, but I'll prepare an NMU with
the fix anyway (to DELAYED/2 so the maintainer has a chance
to disagree), since the change is trivial. Do feel free to
report similar bugs (I would recommend severity: normal or
perhaps severity:important) against other packages that fail
to use debian-flavor-emacs.

regards,
Christine

This bug is not fixed. It looks like make install uses the CCS variable
to set gcc, so adding the -I flags there would fix this.

2010-05-19 Thread Laurent GEHLEN
Hello I had the same trouble, but I solved it.
Are you sure that your user (the one who try to run virt-manager) is in the
group 'libvirt' ?
if not a simple 'adduser libvirt' will solve it. (don't forget to
restart the X-session of the user after added in the right group)
I founded that info on http://wiki.debian.org/KVM.

Laurent

According to the ref below, ``clone'' is not portable and doesn't exist for
ia64 and hppa.

http://www.kernel.org/doc/man-pages/online/pages/man2/clone.2.html

Here's an example of a related patch (for ia64):

Package: python-avogadro
Version: 1.0.1-2
Severity: serious
Justification: uninstallable

Hi

apparantly, python2.5-sip4 isn't provided by anything any longer, and
this makes python-avogadro uninstallable.

The dependency on python2.5-sip4 is picked up by som trickery in
debian/rules.

there is python2.5-sip now, provided by python-sip, and tehre is also a
dh_sip tool to help getting sip dependencies right.

I'm hoping for a quick resolution to this bug, as it seems to be
preventing the migration of kdebindings, sip, python-qt4 and others to
testing.

/Sune

Yes, I noticed that. The way I triggered the behaviour was by having a
running emacs instance (emacs 23) installing the package and loading
the /etc/emacs/site-start.d/50mpg123-el.el file with load-file.

It could be that there's a variable available when starting emacs
that's not available later. Right now, as I'm writing this message
'C-h v flavor' (describe-variable 'flavor) generates an error.

Bug#582275: linux-image-2.6.32-bpo.4-686: ext3 filesystem corruption with md RAID1 on Seagate disks

2010-05-19 Thread Reiner Buehl
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.32-11~bpo50+1
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss

I keep getting ext3 filesystem corruptions on one of my md RAID1 arrays.
Shortly after booting, I get messages like the following one:

EXT3-fs error (device md1): htree_dirblock_to_tree: bad entry in directory
#17269110: rec_len is smaller than minimal - offset=0, inode=0, rec_len=0,
name_len=0

This forces an automatic fsck at the next reboot that fails. The manual
fsck.ext3 -y /dev/md1 takes a long time but manages to get a clean FS again.
After the reboot, it takes just a few minutes until the first of these messages
appear again.

The two disks used in the RAID1 md device are both Seagate ST31000528AS that
show no errors in long and short SMART test and Seatools. Memtest shows no
memory problems. Two other RAID1 systems connected to the same Intel Ibex Peak
6 port SATA AHCI Controller (rev 06) show no such problems. A RAID5 with 4
Seagate ST3750640AS on a Promise PDC40718 (SATA 300 TX4) also works without
problems in the same system.

I saw that sata_sil.c has a blacklist that includes mainly Seagate drives but
do not know if this is related to my problem since my system uses an Intel SATA
controller.

Bug#581227: mpg123-el: cannot reproduce this bug

2010-05-19 Thread Christine Spang
I took a look at this bug today after perusing the RC bugs
list for Squeeze, and, while it does seem that
debian-emacs-flavor is the documented correct variable, I
can't seem to reproduce it *not* working while using flavor.
(I tried using emacs23, emacs22, and xemacs21). There are
several other packages, such as slime and gtk-doc-utils that
also use the 'flavor' symbol.

Can you be more specific as to what doesn't work right now,
and how to verify?

IMHO, this bug should probably be downgraded as well, since
it doesn't cause the package to be completely useless.

cheers,
Christine

The V4L1 API is obsolete and does not work with most new V4L drivers.
You can use libv4l as an emulation layer; see the attached patches by
Hans de Goede.

Bug#582261: krb5: CVE-2010-1321 GSS-API library null pointer dereference

2010-05-19 Thread Sebastien Delafond
Source: krb5
Severity: grave
Tags: security

Hi,

the following CVE (Common Vulnerabilities & Exposures) id was
published for krb5.

|
|

For further information see:

I think the right question here is: does anybody use apt-rpm in Debian?
If there is nobody, the proper solution to fix RC bug is to drop
apt-rpm.

Bug#533164: Isn't there a good reason to build from git HEAD?

2010-05-19 Thread Regid Ichira

http://lists.laiskiainen.org/pipermail/apt-rpm-laiskiainen.org/2010-May/thread.html,
raises serious questions about the upstream version apt-rpm.
I just tried to help with an RC bug.  I don't use it myself.
I think that actual users of apt-rpm.deb should comment.

http://lists.laiskiainen.org/pipermail/apt-rpm-laiskiainen.org/2010-May/000916.html
has a suggestion on building from git HEAD.

I think that substituting int_32 with int32_t in
../apt-pkg/rpm/rpmhandler.{cc,h} will partially solve the
building difficulty with the current source.  There is no need
to make that substitution in ../include/apt-pkg/rpmhandler.h,
because that file is copied during the build from
../apt-pkg/rpm/rpmhandler.h.  It could be that similar patches
can make the current Debian source build-able.  As I wrote, I
don't know how useful the resulting package will be.

Well, dlocate dvipng is not that hard I would say. We are not talking
about code in a library, but a separate program.

Furthermore, please contact one of us in private before doing these
things, and it might be good to contact tlsecur...@tug.org, too.

is used definitely, since it is changed from upstream and the one distributed

that is now part of texlive-binaries, was taken over in texlive 2009 from
the separate package.

you forgot t1utils, dvidvi, lacheck, libpng, psutils, musixflx
in the list of duplicated source code.

But those are not build

Bug#582253: [sweethome3d] sweethome3d crashes on startup

2010-05-19 Thread Jacob Kanev
Package: sweethome3d
Version: 2.3+dfsg-1
Severity: grave

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

When starting the software from the command line, it crashes with following
output. Not sure whether the segfault has anything to do with the Java3D error
message.

Java 3D WARNING : reported GLX version = 1.2
GLX version 1.3 or higher is required
The reported version number may be incorrect. There is a known
ATI driver bug in glXQueryVersion that incorrectly reports the GLX
version as 1.2 when it really is 1.3, so Java 3D will attempt to
run anyway.

Yes it does heavily in the test-suite.

I agree with this.

The fact that no other architecture has ever shown the same failures
indeed points towards multithreading issues on 390 in the kernel or
glibc.

Package: python-pytrilinos
Version: 9.0.3.dfsg-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Two problems:

1.
The python-pytrilinos 9.x package uses trilinos original library names (
libepetra, etc) but the ones provided by the libtrilinos package have a
libtrilinos_ prefix, to avoid name clashes. The result is that python-
pytrilinos does not work.

2.
The other problem is that the library libpytrilinos.so is also not installed,
which seems to be missing from the debian/rules file.

I submitted a but report for the first but at the ubuntu launchpad, but it
seemed that nobody looked at it and never reached upstream.
Thanks!,
Nuno

Hi,

a possible hack: remove that line from the old postrm in the new preinst?

it's hackish, but should do the trick. not sure if policy / common-sense
allows it or if the cure is worse then the problem :)

Hm, if preinst doesnt help, it might be that this bug is not really fixable.
Then just make sure it doesnt happen for future versions, I'd say.

 Ouch!

 This is the problem.
old version's postrm runs after preinst script, however postinst is too late.
How do I deal with that? Any idea?
