Bug#623074: iczech: uninstallable in sid

2011-04-16 Thread Robert Luberda
Package: iczech
Version: 20040229-5
Severity: serious

Hi,

The package is no longer installable in sid, and needs to be rebuild
with new ispell. Please make sure to declare both Build-Depends,
and Depends on `ispell (>= 3.3.02)'.

Hopefully it should rebuild without any troubles. However
please be aware of minor incompatibility in buildhash. The

buildhash ${dict}.dict ${dict}.aff ${dict}.hash

command used to create two additional files i.e. ${dict}.dict.stat and
${dict}.dict.cnt. With the new buildhash:

 - the *.cnt file is gone (if your Makefiles needs it, create it with
`wc -l < ${dict}.dict');

 - the *.stat file is now ${dict}.stat (i.e. the .dict extension got
stripped out).

robert

Bug#623036: Wrong version reported

2011-04-16 Thread Tiger!P
Hello,

I saw in the bugtracker that it stated "Found in version pdns/2.9.22-8",
but that is not correct.
The bug is in version 2.9.22-8+b1 .
The reason it reported the other version, is that I first reverted to
the previous version before running reportbug.

Sorry

Package: python3-sleekxmpp
Version: 1.0~beta4-3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hello,

First, thank you for packaging SleekXMPP. It will be useful, as I am planning
to package Poezio wich depends on it.

I tried installing python3-sleekxmpp. It fails at configure:

I had a look at
"/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/sleekxmpp/xmlstream/tostring/tostring26.py": it
is full of u'' strings, which is not Python 3 syntax. In Python 3, strings are
Unicode by default, and it is byte strings that have to be explicitely declared
with b''.

I wonder if you did not put files from SleekXMPP for Python 2.6 instead of
Python 3 in python3-sleekxmpp.

Try turning off TSO (ethtool -K eth0 tso off).

I consider it an acceptable tradeoff, I can remove the code when udev
will depend on the new sysvinit.

I have no plan to disable the /dev/.udev/ fallback unless it will be
clearly proven that it cannot be viable (hint: the alternative is the
daemon exiting with an error, which is supposed to be worse).

Bug#623059: Data corruption when sendfile is used on atl1c Atheros NIC.

2011-04-16 Thread Artur R. Czechowski
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.32-33
Severity: grave
File: /lib/modules/2.6.32-5-686-bigmem/kernel/drivers/net/atl1c/atl1c.ko

Hello,
As far as I can tell it there is the bug occuring when combination of
sendfile(2) and module atl1c is used. The result of the bug is data
corruption. Examples of data corruption are in attached files:
 - orig.txt - the original file, output of command
  seq 1 600 | xargs printf '%04d\n'
 - apache.dat - result of wget http://the.server/orig.txt -O apache.dat
 - sendfile.dat - file sent from the same server using attached program
  and netcat

The mentioned server has a multiple interfaces and this problem appears
only on Atheros interface. After spotting the problem on Apache first
I finally nailed it to sendfile function. The problem appears only for files
longer than some specific value. For Apache it was 2600 bytes (I suppose it's
because of headers added by webserver). For my test program the minimal size
of file where the problem appears is 2896 bytes.

I also found a similar problem on Ubuntu:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/slide-webdavclient/+bug/651004
The common factor is Atheros AR8131.

Best regards
Artur

While I would love a smooth upgrade path, another possible fix is to
remove libwww5.808-perl from experimental. Luckily this never escaped
into the wild.

2011-04-16 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Package: libhttp-date-perl
Version: 6.00-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

Typical kfreebsd-amd64 experimental system. From today's upgrade
(transcribed by hand, alas):

| Unpacking libhttp-date-perl (from .../libhttp-date-perl_6.00-1_all.deb) ...
| dpkg: error processing
//var/cache/apt/archives/libhttp-date-perl_6.00-1_all.deb (--install):

| //var/cache/apt/archives/libhttp-date-perl_6.00-1_all.deb

Perhaps there is a missing Breaks+Replaces.

Thanks; I love how CPAN modules are packaged.

Bug#622716: (no subject)

2011-04-16 Thread Thomas Adam
Hi,

I fixed this ages ago. It's because of the --as-needed changes that most
distributions on the gun-ho bandwagon went ahead and did.

See FVWM-2.6.1 when it hits, and versions before it.

This isn't Debian's fault per se -- it's just that Manoj has disappeared off
the face of the Earth in terms of managing FVWM in Debian.

Bug#623012: Newest python seems to break obmenu

* Sérgio Cipolla , 2011-04-16, 12:49:
I think that the recent python upgrades broke obmenu, particularly its
obxml module.

usuario@crunchbang:~$ obmenu
Traceback (most recent call last):
 File "/usr/bin/obmenu", line 21, in
import obxml, gtk, gtk.glade, gobject, random, time, os, sys
ImportError: No module named obxml

This is because obmenu is /usr/bin/python2.5 shebang (see bug #).

The attached patch fixes this bug.

Why are volumes being mounted at this point? What is the output of
"ls -1 /etc/rcS.d/", and content of /etc/fstab?

Is there a custom udev rule in there auto-mounting volumes?

Bug#623039: incompatible with utf8x inputenc

I solved using:

\usepackage{fontspec}

and XeLaTeX instead of PDFLaTeX (without fontspec, it compiled but the
extended UTF characters were missing from the output pdf).

This should at least be documented in NEWS.Debian, since it's a big change from
the version in testing.

(still, I think XeLaTex is not mature enough to force people into using it when
having to use biblatex + extended UTF fonts.)

Kindly,
David

Bug#623039: incompatible with utf8x inputenc

2011-04-16 Thread David Paleino
Package: biblatex
Version: 1.4a-1
Severity: grave
Tags: sid

Hello,
I'm working on my master thesis, and today it suddenly broke, i.e. it didn't
compile anymore.

After a bit of investigation, I found biblatex to be the culprit. It seems like
something very bad happens when

\usepackage[utf8x]{inputenc}

is in the document preamble.

Using another encoding (even utf8) makes it work again. However, I *really*
need utf8x (to type characters like Ā, ø, and so on), so that's not a solution
to me.

I'm attaching a minimum (un-)compilable example, just switch between utf8x and
utf8 to see the problem:

! Package biblatex Error: Incompatible package 'ucs'.

I've set the bug severity to RC, since this is a bad regression and shouldn't
go into testing without being fixed IMHO.

Thanks for all your hard work maintaining the TeX ecosystem in Debian!
David

Package: softhsm
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

After installation of softshm and purging again, dpkg fails to work,
spitting out the following:

Reading changelogs... Done
Extracting templates from packages: 100%
Preconfiguring packages ...
dpkg: unrecoverable fatal error, aborting:
syntax error: unknown group 'softhsm' in statoverride file
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)
A package failed to install. Trying to recover:
Press return to continue.

Looking around I found this:

root@auryn:~# grep soft /var/lib/dpkg/statoverride
root softhsm 2770 /var/lib/softhsm
root softhsm 750 /etc/softhsm
root softhsm 640 /etc/softhsm/softhsm.conf

...and (since the package is purged) this:

root@auryn:~# ls /var/lib/softhsm /etc/softhsm
ls: cannot access /var/lib/softhsm: No such file or directory
ls: cannot access /etc/softhsm: No such file or directory

Trying to fix through tools failed:

root@auryn:~# dpkg-statoverride --remove --force /var/lib/softhsm /etc/softhsm
dpkg-statoverride: unrecoverable fatal error, aborting:
syntax error: unknown group 'softhsm' in statoverride file

...but simply removing the lines from /var/lib/dpkg/statoverride worked.

Attached there is a patch to remove the libasound2-dev build-depend and
disable the compilation of the ALSA plugin on non-Linux architectures;
successfully tested on hurd-i386.

Since GCC 4.4 it's not possible anymore to use the 'h' constraints for
MIPS inline assembly code when doing a multiplication. That's why sprng
fails to build from source on mips and mipsel.

That said GCC supports 32x32 => 64 multiplication on 32-bit architecture
for a lot of time, so there is no need to use assembly code for that.
The patch below fixes the problem by using standard multiplication
instead of assembly code.

python-fuse is not installable on kfreebsd-*, because it depends on
fuse-utils, which is not available there. If this dependency is
necessary, you should probably stop building the package on these
architectures.

Subject: [PATCH] Avoid installing nouveau_vieux_dri.so into two packages

Moving nouveau_vieux_dri.so to build/dri/lib/gallium/ in the build
target has the disadvantage that the upstream Makefile will detect the
missing file and bring it back later when we run "make install". So
let's make the move only when we install the files into the packages.

While starting to view certain video

http://readersupportednews.org/off-site-opinion-section/64-64/5630-the-first-guess-lying-about-the-civil-war
using iceweasel, my system crashed/stopped and I had to boot it again. A
second
attempt to view that video immediately upon reboot produced the same
result. I didn't make more tests, but it seems systematic enough to be
worrisome (even though I don't care about that specific video). It hasn't
happened with other videos yet.

Wow, thanks.

Justification: user security hole

Hello,

the prop. flash-player is since a longer time out-of-date in Debian, speaking
of:
  http://people.debian.org/~bartm/flashplugin-nonfree/

The plugin is "outdated" with many serious security holes, it is not binNMU- and
update-able.

Currently only update-flashplugin-nonfree updates the packaging (if you have
updated the binaries on people.d.o), because you want to verify the signatures
of the downloaded files, which is useless IMHO, because you have to download
it without any verification from adobe.com, so if your download is compromised
every other user will get the evil binaries.

This is not easily reproducible.

If you can reproduce that, I’d appreciate if you could launch the script
(with the same arguments) from a terminal, and interrupt it with ^C
after some time, to see where it is looping.

Thanks,

Dependency is done agains libcanberra-gtk-module but latest seahorse is

This is because GTK+ 2.x and GTK+ 3.x share the same environment
variables. Therefore, having one of the two canberra modules leads to
the other trying to be loaded even if it is not here.

The error message is harmless. In no way this is a serious bug, and
since we can’t fix it anyway, let’s close it.

Bug#623015: sprng: FTBFS on mips/mipsel, use old assembly constraints

2011-04-16 Thread Aurelien Jarno
Package: sprng
Version: 2.0a-6
Severity: serious
Tags: patch

Since GCC 4.4 it's not possible anymore to use the 'h' constraints for
MIPS inline assembly code when doing a multiplication. That's why sprng
fails to build from source on mips and mipsel.

That said GCC supports 32x32 => 64 multiplication on 32-bit architecture
for a lot of time, so there is no need to use assembly code for that.
The patch below fixes the problem by using standard multiplication
instead of assembly code.

Well, the logic must be faulty, because it *is* using /run, and it
*is* broken.

It's now uploaded to experimental. sysvinit_2.88dsf-13.4

Whether or not /run is a tmpfs or not is *irrelevant* to whether or
not udev should use it. The choice of filesystem is entirely up to
the admin, and while the default is to use tmpfs, it is not udev's
business to alter its behaviour depending on the filesystem in use
at that location. That's *utterly broken*.

udev needs a dependency on initscripts, and then it can
*unconditionally* make use of /run without relying on broken hacks.
You're trying to be too clever, and making assumptions that are
not warranted.

> > While it might be good to have /run mounted by the initramfs, udev

> It is not supposed to.

Well, it is. Please, implement the initscripts dependency as we
requested, and don't make any use of /run otherwise. It's simple,
foolproof and robust. We went to a lot of effort to make it so,
and it's really rather frustrating that udev is persisting in
breaking systems when there is really do need for it to be doing
so.

Thanks,
Roger

Because if /run in the initramfs does not exist or is not a tmpfs then
/dev/.udev/ will be used instead.
This will break some LVM features, but is not supposed to break anything

hppa is not a release architecture, so its bugs are no longer considered
release-critical.

Please report this upstream on the linux-par...@vger.kernel.org list and

Bug#623005: Current flashplugin-nonfree situation is FFS

2011-04-16 Thread root
Package: flashplugin-nonfree
Version: 1:2.8.3
Severity: grave
Tags: security

Do you have some time to port libqinfinity to the new version? InfIoFunc at
least got renamed to InfIoWatchFunc. The changes shouldn't be as hard as
0.3 to 0.4.

I am sorry to say that it is non-trivial to merge a fix to this bug.
Upstream revision 12620 contains the fix according to the upstream bug.
However, the fix is not released yet and will only make it into SWIG
2.0.4 which accumulated a lot of changes already.

I don't feel like releasing a package for that before it is released
upstream.

Greetings, Torsten

Hi,

libwww-perl 6.01-1 is currently only available in sid, so I'm adding
the sid tag to this bug report.

Once libwww-perl 6.01-1 transitions to wheezy, the wheezy tag may also
need to be added.

Why would that be required? /run is mounted by mountkernfs,
before udevd is started.

This is guaranteed through the
# Required-Start:mountkernfs
in /etc/init.d/udev

Well, it would probably be best if you could install the updated
sysvinit package yourself and find out, since you're the udev
expert here. My knowledge of udev is limited. I will be uploading
it to experimental later today, and it will require an updated udev
that doesn't break before it can go into unstable.

But as said repeatedly, you simply *can* *not* use /run without
a versioned dependency on initscripts. This is because there is
a window between initscripts being unpacked (/run created) and
being configured (/run gets a tmpfs mounted). Without the versioned
dependency, you could find yourself using it when it's not actually
usable, which will cause breakage. This is a hard requirement, you
can't avoid it and not cause breakage.

Here's what's broken right now:
I use the current udev in unstable
I install the new sysvinit/initscripts package
→ udev breaks (no networking)

I don't know when and why it's breaking, but it's definitely using
both /dev/.udev and /run/udev. And /run is being mounted by
mountkernfs.

While it might be good to have /run mounted by the initramfs, udev
should not break if it is not mounted at that point, which is the
case right now.

Thanks,
Roger

Fix how? You say you already installed the new sysvinit package which
mounts the tmpfs, so how would depending on it change anything?
Anyway, I will not do any changes until I will know why the current

Marco, please read what I wrote. I provided all the detail to show
what is needed to reproduce the breakage. If you want any more,
I'll provide it.

/run really is a tmpfs.
udev is broken.

** udev is broken when /run is a tmpfs **

How clearly do I have to say this!

This is broken, right now, with 167-2 in unstable.

This is resulting in massive breakage on systems with the new
initscripts implementing /run. Please fix it, as asked! Just
don't make *any* use of /run until the new initscripts is uploaded
and /run is correctly set up. It's that simple.

Please see
http://wiki.debian.org/ReleaseGoals/RunDirectory
for a guide on how to implement migration to /run. Without an
versioned initscripts dependency, you can't rely on /run being
set up /and/ functional. Checking it's a tmpfs is not enough:
it might not be a tmpfs, and / might be a tmpfs as well, so we
might still mount something on top. Without the versioned
initscripts dependency, all bets are off, and this breakage is
the consequence.

Example of breakage:
udev 167-2
initscripts 2.88dsf-13.3
(http://people.debian.org/~rleigh/run/sysvinit_2.88dsf-13.3.dsc)

initscripts provides /run, and this is set up during boot:

tmpfs on /lib/init/rw type tmpfs (rw,nosuid,size=5242880,mode=755)
tmpfs on /run type tmpfs (rw,nosuid,size=10%,mode=755)
tmpfs on /run/lock type tmpfs (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,size=5242880,mode=1777)
tmpfs on /tmp type tmpfs (rw,nosuid,nodev,size=20%,mode=1777)
proc on /proc type proc (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)
udev on /dev type tmpfs (rw,mode=0755)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,noexec,nosuid,gid=5,mode=620)
tmpfs on /run/shm type tmpfs (rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,size=1639608k)

So, we have a working /run:
% ls /run
...
console dictd.pid postgresqludev
ConsoleKit gpm.pidpppd2.tdb utmp
...

udev fails to bring up networking, as originally reported in this bug.
udev is using /run:

% ls -l /run/udev
total 4
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4300 Apr 16 10:30 data
drwxr-xr-x 157 root root 3140 Apr 16 10:30 links
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 548 Apr 16 10:30 queue.bin
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 60 Apr 16 09:02 rules.d
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 60 Apr 16 09:02 tags
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 740 Apr 16 09:02 watch

udev is also using /dev/.udev:

% ls -l /dev/.udev
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 2780 Apr 16 09:02 data
drwxr-xr-x 70 root root 1400 Apr 16 09:02 links
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 40 Apr 16 09:02 rules.d
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 260 Apr 16 09:02 watch

Not sure why udev is broken; it's using both locations from the
look of things. Maybe something it needs has been written to
one and it's not present in the other or something?

Either way, please fix udev to work with the above sysvinit
package so that udev doesn't break everyone's systems when it
gets uploaded.

Regards,
Roger

Bug#622986: kmail: KMail crashes right after login

2011-04-16 Thread Andras Veres-Szentkiralyi
Package: kmail
Version: 4:4.4.7-3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Since today, KMail crashes right after logging in (e.g. if I provide
incorrect credentials, it notifies me and crashes right afterwards).
Even the main window doesn't show up, KCrash appears right after the
authentication window.

I attached a backtrace with the appropriate debug packages installed.

Bug#622952: Prepared update for libmojolicious-perl

2011-04-16 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Hi Security Team

I have prepared now a preliminary update for libmojolicious-perl, see
attached debdiff. Do you agree with the changes? How to proceed?

Note, reviewing Changes from version in stable up to the version in
squeeze in Changes are the following:

0.28 2010-08-15 00:00:00
- Fixed a security problem with CGI environment detection.
[...]

This is related to upstream commits
b3a1fb453eda447c0bb082cd9eed81bb75a7564a and
aa7c8da54b1ebd4ccb64aa66dede7b7cdb381c44.

And

0.27 2010-08-15 00:00:00
[...]
- Fixed a security problem in the HMAC MD5 implementation. (vti)

where I have not yet the relevant git commit.

Would you have them too adressed?

Bests

+prevents FTBFS with the applied security patch. Thanks to Ansgar
+Burchardt (ansgar) for suggestion.
