Hi Gregor,

It would be great if you could use the list of FTBFS at
http://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/collab-qa/archive-rebuilds/
(e.g
http://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/collab-qa/archive-rebuilds/2011-10-22-lsid64-amd64/failed.2011-10-22.txt?revision=2060view=markup)

If a package is not listed, then it doesn't FTBFS anymore for me.

Unfortunately, I'm currently very busy so I can't do it myself.

(Ccing -qa@ in case someone else want to work on that).

 I first saw it in my pbuildd setup (use locally rebuilt packages as the apt
 archive, includes a hook script to change versions to *+bpb1, etc.) But I've
 also reproduced it in a vanilla pbuilder chroot that I'd just updated.

Just in case: what kernel are you running?

I am running unstable with the lastest version of xserver-xorg-core.

In order to test I rebuilt the packages by removing the depends
on old xorg-video-abi-* versions and setting the xserver-xorg-core
depends to be unversioned. Clearly this ABI change is (at least part of)
the problem.

It's a shame because this means, among other things, that we cannot
enjoy Gnome 3 completely.

Bug#603250: this package is in sid/unstable

Yes, and that's on purpose.

The bug is about removing it from squeeze (that has happened) and
keeping it out of wheezy (which this bug achieves). We're still
leaving it in sid just in case there's a new upstream release; it's
less work to upgrade the existing package than to remove it now and
then re-introduce it later.

This bug will be closed once a newer version is available.

This has been worked around in ncurses 5.9-3, where libtinfo-dev

tclreadline should not even try to link against either of these
libraries, which is why I'm downgrading the bug rather than closing it.

Bug#647644: network-manager: stores wireless passphrases in plain-text

2011-11-04 Thread nodiscc
Package: network-manager
Version: 0.9.0-2
Severity: grave
Tags: security
Justification: user security hole

Dear Maintainer,
since the last upgrade in wheezy, network-manager defaults to creating
system-wide connections.
Clicking on a wireless network from the nm-applet network list brings up a
PolicyKit password prompt, says password is required to modify network settings
for all users.

It is causing the bugs #645815 and #642136, and moreover causes the wireless
passphrases to be stored *in clear text* in
/etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/*

Defaulting to system-wide connections may or not be a good thing (would be
better if the user was given the choice), but storing passphrases unencrypted
is imho definitely a bad idea.
The previous system involving storing the passphrases in the GNOME keyring was
a much better alternative. In the present case, anyone having sufficient
permissions or physical access to the disk is able to read the user's
passphrases, this is a big concern.

Example:

root@atom:/etc/NetworkManager/system-connections# cat Freebox-ABA336
[connection]
id=Freebox-ABA336
uuid=05e76e08-d8a7-43ef-99d1-91d42e0004ce
type=802-11-wireless
timestamp=1320076174

[802-11-wireless]
ssid=Freebox-ABA336
mode=infrastructure
mac-address=(mac address)
security=802-11-wireless-security

[802-11-wireless-security]
key-mgmt=wpa-psk
psk=(WPA passphrase in clear text!!)

[ipv4]
method=auto
dns=8.8.8.8;8.8.4.4;
ignore-auto-dns=true

[ipv6]
method=auto

Note that it is still possible to create user-specific (passphrase stored in
keyring) connections by manually entering the details in nm-connection-editor,
but few people will think about this.
Please either restore the previous behaviour, or provide a user-friendly way to
choose what storage will be used, or provide a secure storage for system-wide
passphrases.

Thank you in advance.

Bug#647650: uninstallable on kfreebsd-amd64

2011-11-04 Thread Robert Millan
Package: libcomedi0
Version: 0.8.1-5.1
Severity: grave
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: kfreebsd

Hi,

This library is uninstallable on kfreebsd-amd64 because it depends on udev.

From the package description I get the impression that libcomedi0 is only
designed to work on Linux. If that is the case, you can fix this issue by
simply setting Architecture to linux-any in debian/control.

Hi,

This package is uninstallable on kfreebsd-amd64 due to its dependency on
gstreamer0.10-alsa.

Is it really not possible to use listen without ALSA? (even on Linux) If
ALSA plugin is just a recommendation, consider using Recommends.

Hi,

This package is uninstallable on kfreebsd-amd64 because of its dependency on
iproute.

Attached patch fixes the problem by replacing ip invocation with portable
use of ifconfig command.

Bug#647278: FTBS in pkg-components

2011-11-04 Thread Nicholas Bamber
I cannot reproduce the second part but I can see how it could happen.
I'm thinking about it.

The first part is just plain embarrasing.

This problem has occurred also the other architecture (armhf,
popwerpcspe, s390x and sh4).
This is caused by that _JNI_LIBDIRS is not correctly set up by configure.
In the case of SH4, a problem is solved with the attached patch.

I am pleased if it becomes helpful.

Best regards,
  Nobuhiro

You're currentlyusing a release that is called unstable. Thus, it
should not be so surprising when a package has some unstability (i.e.
bugs). Unstable involves packages undergoing development, and
sometimes that involves breakage (release-critical bugs) for a while.

If you want a stable OS, please use the Debian release called stable.

Or if you really want this particular issue fixed sooner, you can help
it along by debugging font loading on these problematic pdfs. I just
don't have time right now, but I will eventually get to it.

In any case, complaining is not useful and not welcome in the bts.

Best wishes,
Mike

We're all quite aware of that fact. It's been known since 3.03-1.

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge yet, but the free ati driver
(including 3d and desktop compositing support) has come a *long* way
since the squeeze release. No, you won't get the same performance on
the most demanding games, but then again you will also never again
have to deal with this kind of unnecessary long-term breakage either.

See the ATI FAQ:

This problem may just be the excuse to make your system freer.

Derek, I have a recommendation,
there should be a way or a flag to print errors to the calling shell
when there are font problems.

The user should not need to use gdb to figure out why.
Thanks.

Of course users do not normally need to learn gdb, but when they have
a particular interest in a bug that requires debugging, they should
certainly be willing to learn; rather than abandoning the pursuit
right away.

When built for Python 2.7, python-meld3 is broken:

This has been reported in a few other distributions' bug tracking
systems:

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-meld3/+bug/749880

... and fixed upstream:

https://github.com/Supervisor/meld3/commit/afe92611ee5959d1105a37c4403c99520e24c4ae

Jessica McKellar extracted the relevant patch and applied it to the
Ubuntu package.  Here's a diff.

  * Apply most of commit afe92611 upstream to make the package compatible
with Python 2.7. (LP: #749880)

Bug#625362: ftbfs with gcc-4.6 -Werror

2011-11-04 Thread Daniel T Chen
Package: langupdate
Version: 0.1.0
Followup-For: Bug #625362
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu precise ubuntu-patch

In Debian sid, the attached patch can be applied to achieve the following:

  * Fix unused-but-set-variable warnings revealed by -Wall CFLAGS.
(Closes: #625362)

The bug report's original title and summary are incorrect. The source
package builds fine, at least locally in current sid sbuilds of amd64
and armel, so the only things from the build log that potentially are
problematic are revealed by -Wall.

Thanks for considering the patch.
