Bug#706920: libprocps1-dev and libprocps0-dev: error when trying to install together

Hi,

automatic installation tests of packages that share a file and at the
same time do not conflict by their package dependency relationships has
detected the following problem:

WARNING: The following packages cannot be authenticated!

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

  /usr/include/proc/alloc.h
  /usr/include/proc/devname.h
  /usr/include/proc/escape.h
  /usr/include/proc/procps.h
  /usr/include/proc/pwcache.h
  /usr/include/proc/readproc.h
  /usr/include/proc/sig.h
  /usr/include/proc/slab.h
  /usr/include/proc/sysinfo.h

  /usr/include/proc/whattime.h
  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libprocps.a

  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libprocps.so
  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkgconfig/libprocps.pc

This bug has been filed against both packages. If you, the maintainers of
the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will
resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. You may then
also register in the BTS that the other package is affected by the bug.

-Ralf.

Dear maintainer,

your package php5 is provding an Apache2 web server module.
We're upgrading Apache to the new upstream version 2.4 [1] (tracked
as transition bug #661958). This requires all modules to be rebuilt
due to ABI changes. Thus, you need to rebuild and reupload your
Apache2 module package in a version compatible to our new package
available in experimental [2]. Please note it is not enough to
simply rebuild the module - it needs some adaptions in the module
package metadata. We have written packaging guidelines for our
reverse dependencies [3]. Please read it carefully, it should be able
to answer most of your questions. Do also look at dh_apache2
(available through the dh-apache2 package) which can simplify
packaging Apache2 modules. In short, we want to highlight these
changes you need to be aware of.

* APIs changed for some cases [3]. Chances are your module needs some
adaptions, please get in touch with upstream or us if you need help
to port your module to Apache 2.4.

* MPM packages are gone. You cannot depend or conflict with a
particular MPM anymore. If your module does not work with a
particular module, make sure to make it abort with an error if
loaded together with an incompatible MPM. You can use our
apache2-maintscript-helper [4] to switch to the MPM of your choice
  in your maintainer scripts.

* Do not build-depend on apache2-threaded-dev or apache2-prefork-dev
anymore. Just like MPMs are gone, are our MPM -dev packages as
well. All modules need to simply build-depend on apache2-dev.

* Do NOT depend on apache2, apache2-common or any other real apache2
package in your binary module package. Depend on our virtual
  apache2-api-20120211 package only!

* Do NOT call a2enmod/a2dismod in your maintainer scripts. Use our
apache2-maintscript-helper [3] instead. This is required to get a
uniform and stateful handling of all Apache2 modules.

You can look at our Apache 2.4 packaging hints [5] for hands-on
tutorials. Please note: This bug is filed as important for now. As
the time goes by we plan make it a release critical severity. In the
consequences your module either needs an update or is going to be
removed from Wheezy. For the time being please tag the bug as pending
as soon as you have a package ready. We strongly recommend that at
least maintainers of complex module packages make an upload to
experimental as well. Of course, uploading simple modules to
experimental is welcome, too.

Bug#695361: man-db: Please revert workaround for less 456

2013-05-06 Thread Colin Watson
On Sun, May 05, 2013 at 10:14:36PM -0700, Geoffrey Thomas wrote:
In #695459 you added a workaround for the new backslash-escaping
behavior in less 456-1. Upstream less 457 has since reverted this
behavior unless opted in, so I think the sanest thing to do is to
remove this workaround entirely from man-db, declare a Breaks on
just version 456, and put less
 = 457 into testing.

Attached is a debdiff for a local test build to do this -- see also
my comment in the less bug, #695361, reproduced below. Please
incorporate and upload this change, and also revert the upstream
commit of the workaround; then less 457 or above can be safely
 uploaded to close #695361.

I note that the maintainers of both man-db and less are on the
LowThresholdNmu list, so since this is currently blocking sane
dist-upgrades to testing (I'm caring because I tried to upgrade my
laptop and apt is threatening to remove less), I'm happy to NMU
either or both these packages, if that's easier for you. I'll wait
for comments until tomorrow evening my time, about 24h, before doing
 so.

Thanks for the patch. I'd like to review and upload this myself, but
it's a public holiday today so I don't know whether I'll quite get to it
before your deadline. I will definitely get to it by tomorrow, if you
can wait until then.

I did not do wb trigger changes yet.

Dear maintainer,

your package libapache2-mod-auth-cas is provding an Apache2 web server module.

* Do not build-depend on apache2-threaded-dev or apache2-prefork-dev

Hi,

we all agree that libjgoodies-forms-java 1.6 is the bad guy here, but
unfortunately the maintainer of this library cannot really solve the
issue. ;-)

I have prepared a patch and i hope to find a sponsor soon. Indeed the
problem is the renamed FormFactory class which is now called FormSpecs,
hence all occurrences of this class have to be renamed in MediathekView.

Markus

Bug#706987: general: Gnome freezes after some minutes of starting session

2013-05-06 Thread Javier Juan Albarracín
Package: general
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

Gnome desktop freezes after some minutes of starting the session. The solution
is to change to another tty and restart the gdm3 server. I've noticed that it
only happens at the begining of the session but once the gdm3 is restarted it
doesn't reproduce. Also, it occurs in the stable version (wheezy) and the
testing one. I also checked it occur with the default debian drivers and the
nvidia drivers. My machine is an Intel Core i5 2500 8GB RAM Nvidia GTX 550 Ti.

Hope it helps

From the upstream changelog (RELEASE-NOTES.txt)
+o Renamed FormFactory to FormSpecs.

Looks like mediathekview needs some changes ...

I'm perfectly happy to wait -- it'll take a bit to get to testing anyway.

Speaking of migrations, I'm thinking through how to avoid the same problem
(apt threatening to remove less) in saucy. Since man-db is Ubuntu-patched,
it won't get automatically imported, so I guess the answer is just to hold
off on merging (slash syncing, the patch is just M-A: foreign) until after
less gets synced into Ubuntu. The other option would be to remove the

I think the problem is that in the last iteration (in 2.2-3.1 and

here was install(old)-remove-install(new), so this codepath in the
preinst doesn't get called.

mediathekview needs to update the former used FormFactory class to

Bug#695361: hit after wheezy release

2013-05-06 Thread Jameson Graef Rollins
I just got hit with this after doing an upgrade after the wheezy
release. I didn't initially notice, but less was removed during the
upgrade, and I was not able to reinstall without pulling from unstable.

I imagine a lot of people are going to start hitting this bug now that
the release has happened, so I strongly suggest fast-tracking this
through unstable.

Cheers.

Now that #683551 is fixed, shatag FTBFS:

The solution is not to use dh_auto_*, since they'd try running setup.py
with python2.X. I also removed non-policy-compliant X-Python-Version
field from debian/control in my patch.

Hello,

redeclipse currently FTBFS on all archs, because it depends on
non-existing liblg1-mesa-dev, which was probably meant to be
libgl1-mesa-dev.

Nothing migrates from experimental.

It's just that no-one has uploaded a new version of linux-tools yet.

probably the wrong thing to do, but here's a potential patch to

Can you perhaps conditionalize the relevant assembly more tightly and

Bug#707038: kamailio: FTBFS: build-* depends on root-needing binary-*

2013-05-06 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Source: kamailio
Version: 4.0.1-1
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source

Builds of kamailio covering only architecture-specific packages (as on
the autobuilders) have been failing:

  dh_testroot
dh_testroot: You must run this as root (or use fakeroot).
  make: *** [install] Error 255
  dpkg-buildpackage: error: debian/rules build-arch gave error exit status 2

It looks like this error stems from build-arch's dependency on
binary-arch, which requires (effectively) elevated privileges. Please
have build-arch and build-indep simply depend on build-stamp.

Thanks!

Bug#707040: initramfs-tools: missing busybox package creates unbootable initramfs missing /bin/sh

2013-05-06 Thread Ben Love
Package: initramfs-tools
Version: 0.109.1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 3.5

Dear Maintainer,

I ran dist-upgrade from squeeze to wheezy. During the upgrade, I was warned
that I was missing firmware-realtek, which was now in non-free. I installed
that package, and updated the 3.2 initrd image. Upon reboot, the 3.2 kernel
panic'd, unable to find /init. I was able to reboot into the 2.6.32 kernel.

I could tell that the usb-storage and other filesystem-related modules were
not being loaded, so I assumed they were not present in the initramfs. I
added several of them to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and rebuilt *both*
initrd images. Rebuilding the one for 2.6.32 should have been a no-op. And
backup_initramfs=no by default on my system.

Now I was unable to boot *either* initrd image. I was able to pull an old
initrd
image from another machine to get it to boot. Then I extracted both this
working
image and the one I just created to see what was different. I noticed that the
new one did not have a /bin/sh file (or symlink). Both had /init though.

I simply installed busybox with apt-get. There were no additional packages
required during that install. I rebuilt the initrd images with my
/etc/initramfs-tools/modules overrides removed. Now both /bin/sh and
/bin/busybox were created.

Both kernel versions now boot successfully.

Note: I'm not sure why the 3.2 initrd images do not appear in the list below.
reportbug didn't populate them. The various other 2.6 initrd images were from
attempts at changing the MODULES line in initramfs.conf.

Bug#707041: Workaround

2013-05-06 Thread pancho horrillo
Hi!

It seems that the file /var/lib/dpkg/info/ifupdown.postinst
is broken, because there is an empty clause within a then block, and that
breaks the parse tree.

This can easily fixed:

--- ifupdown.postinst.orig 2013-05-07 02:50:15.0 +0200
+++ ifupdown.postinst   2013-05-07 06:23:20.695223000 +0200
@@ -99,6 +99,7 @@
   if [ -f /etc/network/interfaces ] ; then
 # We don't need loopback interface definition anymore as
 # ifupdown handles loopback interface on its own from now
+: # add null command to preserve the parse tree
   else # ! -f /etc/network/interfaces
 if [ -z $2 ]; then
   echo Creating /etc/network/interfaces.

After editing, run:

# dpkg --pending --configure

and we are ok.

Hope that it helps.

Cheers,

Bug#707047: Lockup and possible hardware damage on VIA EPIA-PD motherboard

2013-05-06 Thread Ben Hutchings
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.2.41-2
Severity: critical
Tags: moreinfo

My home server which has an old VIA EPIA-PD motherboard and C3
'Nehemiah' CPU has been unstable since I rebooted into this kernel
version. It will hard lock (no kernel log messages, no response to
magic SysRq) during heavy disk activity - initially a backup, but
then fsck also triggered it. My suspicion is that this may be related
to the 'longhaul' cpufreq driver which is now autoloaded and
previously wasn't. I will try running without it tomorrow. For now,
I've switched back to the squeeze kernel (2.6.32-48squeeze1) and have
completed the fsck and incremental backup without errors.

Following the first hard lockup, the BIOS failed to initialise RAM
(indicated by repeated beeps and no video output at power-on). I
have replaced the DIMM with a spare. (I then tested swapping back
to the original DIMM, and again it failed in the same way.) The
hard lockups continued with the replacement DIMM until I rebooted to
the squeeze kernel. So I have good reason to suspect that there is a
software cause for both the lockup and the hardware damage.

Marking this moreinfo because I need to check whether longhaul is the
culprit.

Ben.
