Bug#735898: pavucontrol segmentation fault

By creating a new user account, I'm able to open pavucontrol from that

So it seems like the problem is related to a setting in some other
 program (gconf? dconf? gstreamer? jack?).

You can try to see with strace.

Bug#735600: ekiga: Segmentation fault after libpt2.10.10 upgrade

Hi,

I still encounter crashes seemingly caused by libpt with Ekiga.

Here is the backtrace I get when Ekiga crashes after the program has
ran for a while:

We plan to use a newer version of ptlib very soon, which had many fixes.
I am pretty sure this bug is fixed, since I remember some changes on
Contacts.

I suggest to wait until this new release appears.

Your crash is not related to ptlib upgrade, as far as I see. Are you
sure that you did not have the crash before, and now you have it?

Package: xul-ext-certificatepatrol
Version: 2.0.14-3
Severity: grave

Just a heads-up,

today's update of iceweasel in stable aka wheezy breaks
xul-ext-certificatepatrol for nothing but the version number limit.
I'll try to have that issue resolved ASAP, nevertheless this might
take a few days.

For the time being I suggest installing 2.0.14-4 from testing/sid
aka jessie/sid, this lifts the version number limit without any other
change.

Sorry for the mess, this should not happen again within this century.

Bug#717239: Bug #717239: partman-ufs: depends on obsolete package

2014-02-14 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Steven Chamberlain ste...@pyro.eu.org (2013-08-16):
The dependency should be still satisfied on kFreeBSD and Hurd. On
kFreeBSD it's even our default filesystem.

Since the package is arch: all, is this an actionable bug? It seems to
me no different than say, partman-zfs dependencies not being satisfied
 on GNU/Linux.

I've just switched partman-ufs from all to kfreebsd-any, and uploaded it
from amd64 using -akfreebsd-amd64 since it has no arch-dep code to
build, hoping it won't break anything. -bsd@: please yell if something
breaks.

uninstallability will go away once partman-ufs is decrufted on
non-kfreebsd architectures (fixing monolithic image building on these
architectures).

For the record, partman-zfs was moved back to kfreebsd-any a while ago,
and decrufted lately.

Mraw,
KiBi.

Bug#732652: testing changed Icedove package

2014-02-14 Thread Carsten Schoenert
Hello Ximin,

On Wed, Feb 12, 2014 at 04:00:47PM +, Ximin Luo wrote:
All extensions are from the Debian repos. Actually I have disabled
everything except moz-g-k and the bug is still present. I'm not sure
how another extension could interfere with where icedove loads its

O.k. just want to be sure that no other installed software will causes
some trouble.

I repeat, setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/icedove makes things work.
Perhaps you just forgot a -Wl,rpath during the build process?

Mozilla has changed the starting wrapper for Thunderbird in version 14
or so. They use some kind of intelligent mechanism to detect the used
librarys and set a LD_LIBRARY_PATH if needed.
But this covers just a included directory 'plugins/' and not
/usr/lib/icedove.

So you propably right with the linker flag '-Wl,rpath. I rebuild
yesterday the current version 24.3.0 with this additional declaration to
LDFLAGS.
I uploaded the packages with this little change to

  http://openmct.org/misc/icedove24-test/

I checked the builded binary 'icedove' with readelf. The binarys now
uses RUNPATH.

 (pbuilder)root@jessie:~/icedove-24.3.0/debian/tmp/usr/lib/icedove# readelf
 --dynamic icedove | grep PATH
  0x001d (RUNPATH)Library runpath: [/usr/lib/icedove]

So I'd like to ask you if you please can test once again the Icedove
package with mozilla-gnome-keyring?
Unfortunately I never have used m-g-k and I'm having currently not much
time and testing installations to play with m-g-k. I think you know your
package much better then me and will find much quicker if it works
correctly with this changes while the build process.

Here are the messages from icedove console:

 Could not read chrome manifest

This should be also fixed in the packages from above. We have forgotten
to change the install declarations for this directory. Mozilla has added

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from

It installed fine in 'jessie', then the upgrade to 'sid' fails.

The problem is that the environment (inherited from the user's shell)
isn't cleaned up in the post-installation script, as needed by perl.
Replacing su debian-spamd by su - debian-spamd fixes the problem

cpm fails to build from source [1] on SPARC and SPARC64 do to upstream commit
2ba8958a7c. As that commit was needed to build on kFreeBSD, my guess is
that a check should be implemented to see if PT_SYSCALL is defined and if
not use PTRACE_SYSCALL. Be aware, I have no idea what I am doing code-wise
here, but the package builds on SPARC (porterbox) with the attached patch
applied.

Ooh, I've not noticed it, thanks.

Afaict (note: i'm not the maintainer of this package) uploading a

idea without further coordination/planning as it would cause a

Yes, but as the patch suggested it would be put to experimental.

Antoine, are you still maintaining smokeping? It's been RC buggy for
half a year and was removed from testing three months ago.

I have been quite busy. If anyone wants to NMU this, feel free. I'm
happy to keep on maintaining smokeping, but if others want to step in to
help, that is always welcome. smokeping is in collab-maint and i'm in
the LowNMU treshold list.

But right now I use smokeping mostly on wheezy, so this problem doesn't
really affect us so $WORK can't pay for this right now.

I'll certainly fix this by the time jessie is released. :)

I think that the reason is due to the split of the package.
Before the split, I had never compiled the rules, so that sa-compile
has never been run. After the split, sa-compile has automatically
been installed as recommended by spamassassin, and sa-compile is run
unconditionally in the post-installation script.

The problem was probably due to my environment variable

I think that the script OpenCVModules.cmake should not look for
libopencv_java.

When I build opencv 2.4.8 from source, libopencv_java is not build.

The error can be simply reproduced using the following CMakeLists.txt

a bug in the handling of indirect magic rules of libmagic leads to
an infinite recursion when trying to determine the file type of
certain files. The has been assigned CVE-2014-1943. Additionally,
other well-crafted files might result in long computation times (five
seconds for a single file while using 100% CPU) and overlong results
(~400k line), something some applications that operate on the file
result might not handle in a sane way.

The issue has been made public by Bernd Melchers who initially found
 this bug: http://mx.gw.com/pipermail/file/2014/001327.html

Impact is two-layered. The bug itself has been introduced years ago
(pre oldstable). From jessie on, the default magic file as shipped in
the package contains a file magic rule that is exploitable for a
 segmentation fault.

 In other words:

jessie: Always affected and in full scale.

squeeze/wheezy: Segmentation fault when using non-standard magic
files that use indirect in a certain way. Still vulnerable for the
computation time and overlong issues mentioned above.

Upstream released 5.17 last night, fixing the bug for all
reproducers I have in my collection. Backporting the patch is not
trivial but hopefully feasible. I'll give that a try later the day.

I clone this bugreport, as php5 embedding a modified copy of libmagic
would also be affected by CVE-2014-1943.

The two relevant commits for file/5.16 were

since PHP 5.3.0 at
http://git.php.net/?p=php-src.git;a=commitdiff;h=ccc012d3f656236c29c075a9e5dfbe850e00915b
)

But I'm still not sure why do we have a libmagic-dev build-dep and a hard
coded dependency on libmagic1 for the various SAPIs. But that's a side
note...

The question is: do we want to patch this ourselves, or wait for PHP to
provide the fix based on the linked commits? I guess the latter would be
best, unless it will take them too much time.

Hello Andrew,

The patch below is the debdiff between 3.0.0-3 and Steven's NMU.

The NMU was rejected as you could see above.

Do you think there is a good reason to override the lintian error?

Bug#739023: xul-ext-greasemonkey: Broken with iceweasel 24 from stable-security

2014-02-14 Thread David Prévot
Package: xul-ext-greasemonkey
Version: 1.15-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
Control: fixed -1 1.14-1

Dear Maintainer,

iceweasel 24 recently hit stable-security (and is therefore expected to
enter stable at the next point release).

Unfortunately the version of xul-ext-greasemonkey currently in stable is
unusable with iceweasel 24 (the (user)scripts are not run).

I’d welcome a confirmation of the issue before asking for a
stable-update.

Cheers,

David

Thanks for the patch, it works nicely together with the changes for #738117.

The patches for the FTBFS reported in #737814 fix builds on ARM too.

So I've uploaded the updated qgis package to mentors, and requested

Bug#738117: qgis: modifies shipped files: /usr/share/qgis/resources/srs.db

2014-02-14 Thread Sebastiaan Couwenberg
Control: tags -1 pending

Hi Andreas,

The updated qgis package available on mentors and waiting for
sponsorship (#739029).

After I first built the updated package, I noticed that upstream had
fixed this issue separately in their master branch:

https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/commit/f06e72efcd2de347be6918a2ff278f17dc8a0b0c

I've merged the changes from upstream in:

http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-grass/qgis.git;a=commitdiff;h=4b92f01ecd1a903112502fbc96456b90414653d0

Together with the changes for #738273 the issues relating to the srs.db
are now fixed.

Thanks for your assistance with these issues.

Kind Regards,

Bas

Do you think there is a good reason to override the lintian error?

I have no familiarity with argus 3.0. Someone else has packaged it for
experimental, not me.

On the face of it, I see no reason to be statically linking libpcap into
argus, so I don't think overriding the lintian error is the right approach.

still in progress.
