Package: mpv
Version: 0.6.2-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

I wanted to play a video.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

At a shell prompt, I typed /usr/bin/mpv followed by a filename.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

I got this error message in red text:

mpv was compiled and linked against a mixture of Libav and FFmpeg versions.
This won't work and will most likely crash at some point. Exiting.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

I expected the video to start playing.

I get the same failure no matter what video I try to play.

Bug#785672: Critical ext4 data corruption bug

2015-05-19 Thread Elmar Stellnberger

Am 19.05.15 um 01:12 schrieb Josh Triplett:

Package: src:linux
Version: 4.0.2-1
Severity: critical
Tags: upstream

4.0.3 includes a fix for a critical ext4 bug that can result in major
data loss. I believe this is the bug I just hit on my server, resulting
in massive filesystem corruption. See upstream commit
d2dc317d564a46dfc683978a2e5a4f91434e9711 ("ext4: fix data corruption
caused by unwritten and delayed extents"), which has been added to
stable kernels 4.0.3 as well as much older stable kernels.

Please consider incorporating this patch into the Debian kernels as soon
as possible, including into the Jessie kernel.

Some time ago I also had some massive data corruption problem with an
ext4 partition
which may also have been caused by the same bug. The notable thing is
that other ext4
installations have worked fine for a long while in spite of this bug. No
fsck had helped;

had to reformat having lost all data on the partition.
We need to warn any existing ext4 user! The patch should be distributed
as soon as
possible. My recommendation would be not to use ext4 or to convert to
btrfs unless

a fix is available. Otherwise assert your backups!

Elmar

This looks like #723930 reappearing.

What has changed since jessie is that debhelper now indeed runs tests
verbosely.

Maybe the "test-in-the-test" (if I'm reading the output correctly) is
the problem here?

Cheers,

I can confirm that Gian Fillippo never contributed directly to DXPC.
You'll note his name does not appear in the DXPC README, and never
has.

@Kevin: This is again good news for sorting out this issue. Thanks a
lot for your help, Kevin.

@Frederico: I guess we are through then. Thanks for helping with
clarifying the situation (and bringing it up in the first place).

For fixing this issue (in terms of closing the bug), I propose this
for downstream (i.e., Debian):

o copy bug_784565.mbox [1] into the debian/ folder of the
nx-libs-lite package

o upload some latest release of nx-libs-lite 3.5.0.x to unstable
  o update debian/copyright accordingly
o close this bug via debian/changelog

For upstream, I propose this:

  o copy bug_784565.mbox into the docs/ folder
o update copyright information in nxcomp/ subfolder
o provide some README or such that shortly explains our last weeks' process
o this will be for the upcoming 3.6.x release series of nx-libs

o this should also be backported to the 3.5.x release series

Once the mbox file and README are upstreamed, I will drop that content
from the debian/ folder in the Debian package nx-libs-lite (as it will
be in the upstream tarball of nx-libs-lite).

Feedback (esp. from Frederico), concerns, other suggestions?

Greets,
Mike

Hi Frank, are you sure the bug is really fixed?

the qemu patch seems to be different from the virtualbox one, and seems that
the affected code is not fixed

Version: 215-17
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

This concerns Raspbian upgraded to Jessie on the Raspberry Pi B+ (Model 1)

Here, several services fail if systemd is being used, most essentially dbus
takes very long to start and later fails silently. Subsequently,
systemd-logind

fails, making local and SSH login impossible.

Several users have reported similar issues, see

https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=104314&p=759634

and

Here is the kind of error I see:

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
Installing Debian via Daily-installer. Singlepartition, language german on a VM
with IDE hdd.

   * What was the outcome of this action?
Installer fails while debootstrap with Err 127.

Console shows:

(Ofc this isnt vital to me, i went via jessie and distupgrade by now, but this
seems like something that needs to be fixed)

That’s not really a bug in php-doctrine-cache-bundle, and definitely not
one that has been fixed in php-doctrine-cache-bundle.

You may wish to file such bug report to symfony instead (for not being
up to date) and make it affect php-doctrine-cache-bundle, or even file
it to both packages (php-doctrine-cache-bundle,symfony) in doubt.

symfony (>= 2.6) was already in NEW anyway, so only patience was
required. Since it got processed yesterday, closing.

Regards

David

Bug#785714: kexec-tools is broken when using systemd, danger of filesystem corruption

2015-05-19 Thread Thomas Stangner
Package: kexec-tools
Version: 1:2.0.7-5
Severity: grave
Tags: patch

Rebooting via kexec is currently broken when using the default init system of
Jessie (systemd) and may result in filesystem corruption or other unwanted
effects of improperly shutdown services. This bug does not apply when using the
SysV init system.

Reboots (e.g. via 'reboot', 'systemctl kexec' or 'systemctl reboot') will cause
the LSB SysV scripts of kexec-tools (/etc/init.d/kexec-load and
/etc/init.d/kexec) to be stopped BEFORE reaching the systemd kexec target (and
other systemd targets), which means that other LSB init scripts and/or systemd
services will be in a race condition with the LSB kexec script and the
filesystems may not be properly unmounted beforce /etc/init.d/kexec calls
/sbin/kexec -e.
As an effect of this, after rebooting via kexec, one may often observe orphaned
inodes or other filesystem incosistencies, especially on a busy machine with
heavy IO.

There also seems to be logical error in the /etc/init.d/kexec-load LSB script,
because the kexec image will only get loaded when the systemd target is reboot
- when the target is kexec, the image won't be loaded and thus a normal reboot
will occur.

The following patch for the source package should fix this and make rebooting
via 'systemctl kexec' possible (when /etc/default/kexec has LOAD_KEXEC
enabled), 'reboot' or 'systemctl reboot' will result in normal reboots.

I've just tried both

$ haxe Test.hx -main Test -swf test.swf

 and

$ haxe -main Test -swf test.swf # as suggested in upstream bug

They both successfully generated test.swf with no output.

Unless you provide a valid testcase to reproduce it, bug will be closed.
In the meanwhile downgrading to normal.

Bug#785730: freecad: Freecad crashes when opening any part, architectural or ship design instance

2015-05-19 Thread Mikael Erkkilae
Package: freecad
Version: 0.14.3702+dfsg-3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

freecad is unusable at the moment due to immediate crashing when any instance
of part design, sketching, architecture design or ship design is opened. When
debugging with gdb I get the following backtrace:

Program received signal SIGILL, Illegal instruction.
0x7fff78b12548 in ?? ()
(gdb) bt
#0 0x7fff78b12548 in ?? ()
#1 0x014bd350 in ?? ()
#2 0x in ?? ()
(gdb)

This problem seems to be similar to the bug #710669 reported in 2013

Cheers Mikael

Ah, it took some time but I finally understand the issue.

The test-in-the-test is indeed the problem: the whole output of building
a test "DZT" module and running its tests is part of the TAP output for
the main tests in t/tester.t and t/plugins/testrelease.t. When the DZT
module tests are run in verbose mode, they get mixed up with the main
TAP. If the DZT module tests just output
  t/basic.t .. ok
that's all fine and doesn't mess up the main TAP.

Just about the only way to make the sub-build tests run in verbose mode
seems to be invoking make with TEST_VERBOSE=1, because that gets passed
to the sub-make via MAKEFLAGS. This happens to be exactly what the newer
debhelper does.

So it can be triggered with
 make test TEST_VERBOSE=1
which can be reduced to for instance
 MAKEFLAGS="TEST_VERBOSE=1" prove t/tester.t

Still not sure if we need any other fix than forcing TEST_VERBOSE=0.

Dear Maintainer,

painintheapt currently FTBFS in a clean Debian unstable amd64 pbuilder because
it does not build-depend on python-docutils, so it can't run the necessary
rst2man command.

In Ubuntu, the attached patch was applied to achieve the following:

  * Build-depend on python-docutils to fix FTBFS.

Thanks for considering the patch.

Dear Maintainer,

python-netlib currently FTBFS in Ubuntu [1] because it doesn't build-depend on
python-setuptools (same failure happened in an amd64 Debian unstable pbuilder).

In Ubuntu, the attached patch was applied to achieve the following:

  * Build-depend on python-setuptools to fix FTBFS.

Thanks for considering the patch.

Setting this kind of tag for a package that was never part of a stable
release is useless.

>Depends: php-symfony-console (>= 2.5) but
> 2.3.21+dfsg-2 is to be installed

> but no version is available for php-symfony-console

It take some time, during the freeze, to see package processed out of
NEW. This bug is now moot without any change in the package it’s filed
again, so maybe it wasn’t filed against the proper package to begin
with.

Anyway, as stated in #780821, “I recently packaged it as a php-apigen
dependency, but that’s not true anymore (it uses php-symfony-console
directly)”, this package is now useless in Debian. Recycling this bug
report with a proper title.

Unless there is any reason to keep it around (e.g., new dependency in
another package, or it being actually useful on its own), I’ll request a
removal in a few months.

Regards

David

Since translate-shell just got removed from stretch/testing, you don't
need to bother with tpu. However, you do need to bother with jessie.
I think you should cherry-pick the upstream patch for this issue.
I think it would be best to upload to jessie-updates for this issue.
Please follow the guidelines set out in the developers reference:

statsmodels now build-depends on nodejs, but nodejs is not available on

mipsel, powerpc, and s390x.

Dear maintainer(s),

I plan to upload cmake 3.2 to unstable soon.

Your package provides a find module in /usr/share/cmake-3.0.
cmake 3.2 will not look for modules in that path anymore.

Find modules work by guessing the location of libraries and include
files.
Libraries shouldn't ship find modules at all since they know where
the library has been installed to.

There are a couple of solutions:

1) Ship a config-file package instead. [1]
cmake looks for these packages in an unversioned path:
   /(lib/|lib|share)/cmake/*/
and a couple of others [2]

2) Push the find module upstream. [4]
   Upstream is usually very responsive.
Once it has been accepted upstream I can cherry-pick it in the
   cmake package.

3) cmake supports reading pkg-config files. [3]
This needs changes in the reverse-dependencies though.

As a short term solution you can provide the find module in
/usr/share/cmake-3.2 as well as /usr/share/cmake-3.0.
This is only a temporary workaround though.

Cheers,
Felix

the binaries are simply removed, I didn't manage to find a way to
compile from source. You didn't put the reference for sending it you

Hi Federico,

Before attempting to do an NMU, you should first send a bug report
to Debian, and attach the patch you're proposing. Only if the
current maintainer doesn't reply, then you can attempt to NMU. The
thing is, it would need to be a repacked version of Selenium (ie:
the xpi removed from the orig file), and maybe we would need to ship
the non-free xpi files as a separate package in non-free.

Could you send your patch to [1] ?

Does your patch build the xpi now? How does it work? If it's what it
does, then great. If not, then it's nice still.

Thomas
