Bug#916702: freezegun FTBFS: test failures

2019-01-20 Thread Ivan Vilata i Balaguer
Package: src:freezegun
Followup-For: Bug #916702

I locally created a version based on the more recent 0.3.11 upstream version,
with the same Debian files (plus an extra changelog entry, of course), and
``dpkg-buildpackage -A`` seemed to successfully build, pass the tests and
package everything.

So probably using the latest upstream would fix the issue. Thanks!

Bug#902330: timidity: daemon excludes pulseaudio daemon from using audio cards

2018-06-24 Thread Ivan Vilata i Balaguer
Package: timidity
Version: 2.14.0-3
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Hi there! After the last update and reboot of my Sid system, I could no
longer hear sound output from any application. I'm running per-user
PulseAudio, and ``pavucontrol`` said that no audio cards were being detected,
showing only a fake sink device. The card was reported in ``dmesg``,
``lspi``, ``lsmod`` and ``alsamixer`` though.

Running ``fuser /dev/snd/*`` showed only the Timidity daemon having
``/dev/snd/controlC0`` open. Stopping the Timidity daemon seemed to fix the
issue and running ``pavucontrol`` again reported the physical card. Actually
I was then able to start the Timidity daemon again successfully without
breaking things.

Restarting the system made the Timidity daemon hold the card again until it
was stopped, so I stopped and disabled the daemon as a temporary workaround.

As I mentioned, this happened after a recent update and reboot, so the issue
may have been introduced by some update during June 2018.

Thank you very much!

Also bitten by this.

The Tor Browser is still installed under the home directory. To run it while
this issue gets fix, open a shell and execute:

~/.local/share/torbrowser/tbb/x86_64/tor-browser_en-US/Browser/start-tor-browser

(This is for x86_64 machines, evidently. This seems to work for me but I'm
not guaranteeing that it's a recommendable way to run it!)

2017-08-11 Thread Ivan Vilata i Balaguer
Package: linux-headers-4.11.0-2-common
Version: 4.11.11-1
Followup-For: Bug #869670

I had the same issue here with the same result of losing my kernel headers,
DKMS not working, thus being unable to build VirtualBox modules and use
VirtualBox at all.

I tries to look for a ``4.11.11-1+b1`` version for the ``-common`` and
``-common-rt`` packages (both lacking the latest consistent version), but
found nothing.

It looks like the only chance left for me is rebooting into a previous
kernel.`:(`

Cheers!

Hi, I noticed that dnscypt-proxy's init script contains a problematic line 63

Hi Julien, hi Mike. It looks like you hit the nail, I have cedet-common and
cedet-contrib 1:1.0pre4-3.1 installed in my system, pulled by eieio, pulled by
jde from contrib. So maybe the actual bug is #620341.

Bug#614221: 2.6.37-1-powerpc does not but on iMac G3

2011-02-21 Thread Ivan Vilata i Balaguer
Package: linux-2.6
Severity: normal

I'm experiencing the same problem in my iBook G4 with an ATI Radeon Mobility
9200. After running the bootloader (tried both Yaboot and GRUB2, single or
multiuser), some text messages appear and the screen is clared a couple of
times. The following text is printed in white over black lines on a white
screen:

setup_arch: bootmem
arch: exit

Two more empty black lines and the system gets stuck in there, rebooting
itself after a couple of minutes. In a normal boot (Squeeze/Sid 2.6.32), the
screen used to be cleared black and the penguin logo appeared. With 2.6.37 it
does't reach this point.

Thanks

Bug#523345: gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad: Confirmed Pidgin crash

2009-04-27 Thread Ivan Vilata i Balaguer
Package: gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad
Version: 0.10.11-2+b1
Severity: normal

I can also confirm that Pidgin crashes when a connection to a Jabber server is
done with gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad installed. When no Jabber server is used,
the program runs ok. Also, when gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad is removed (even
keeping the packages it depends on), the program doesn't crash when connecting
to Jabber servers.

I can provide an ltrace and an strace of a crash if you need it. However, I
may need to clean them up a little.

Bug#523806: nvidia-kernel-legacy-96xx: Conflicts with new xserver-xorg-core

2009-04-12 Thread Ivan Vilata i Balaguer
Package: nvidia-kernel-legacy-96xx
Version: 96.43.07-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Package ``nvidia-glx-legacy-96xx`` version 96.43.07-2 provides the virtual
package ``xserver-xorg-video-2``. However, the latest version of
``xserver-xorg-core`` in Sid, 2:1.6.0-1, conflicts with the aforementioned
virtual package, implying that one has to revert to the ``nv`` driver to keep
on using a local X server after an update.

This bug looks quite similar to #521216. Thanks!

Bug#476274: spambayes: sb_imapfilter.py still broken in Lenny/Stable

2009-02-22 Thread Ivan Vilata i Balaguer
Package: spambayes
Version: 1.0.4-5.1
Followup-For: Bug #476274

The ``sb_imapfilter.py`` script belonging to the version Lenny/Stable does
still suffer from the misplaced ``from __future__ import generators``
error::

  $ sb_imapfilter.py --help
File "/usr/bin/sb_imapfilter.py", line 89
  from __future__ import generators
SyntaxError: from __future__ imports must occur at the beginning of the file

Simply moving the statement right after the docstring fixes the issue.
This fix is already applied in Spambayes' trunk.

It looks like Python 2.5 is pickier with the placement of future
statements. That's the reason why it worked under 2.4 but not under 2.5.
