As we talked on IRC, you'll solve this by installing libcupsys2 from
unstable, not from experimental.

Now I commited "libcupsys2 Conflicts: cupsys v1.1 series" to our SVN
of cupsys v1.2.

Thanks,

OK, I'll check it.

I confirmed on my AMD64 but the problem isn't of -fPIC.

Here is "make -n" result.

echo Compiling array.c...

I searched a similar problem, but all of I can find is only old

Dear gcc team, could you help me?

I experienced same case on my arm experimental buildd.
The problem of my case was caused by broken xfree86-common
(uninstallation failed). Andreas, did you check it?

And the type of this bug looks be from user's environment or hit dpkg's

As my understand, kdevdesigner is called internally from command
'kdevelop3'. I reprocuded crash when I run kdevdesigner,
kdevassistant, and r++ standalone. But they seem work correctly on kdevelop3.

IMHO these internal command should move /usr/lib/somewhere, but
it maybe be too late to fix for Sarge.

I think normal or wishlist is appropriate for this bug.

AFAIK the main subject of mozilla-firefox is to browse Web, isn't
print-out.
Of course problem should be fixed in the future, but I don't think it is
release critical.

To fix a problem, you need to provide more detail information, such as
where problematic web site is, problematic postscript file, and so on.

Although I suspect your problem isn't on mozilla-firefox but is on
gs-esp or something else.

Hi,

I checkouted CVS from upstream site and tried to get diff about this
security problem.

CHANGES said:
0.9.17-rc1 (May 12, 2005)
  - removed the use of temp files for handling imports with dynamic
compilation. This removes a whole slew of issues, including a temp file
security issue reported on the email list by Brian Bird. [TR]
  - fixed bug with handling of the searchList with dynamic inheritance, as
reported by Brian Bird. [TR]

Latter is outside of Sarge, former is target.

As my quick viewing, only src/Template.py is modified during -r1.115
to -r1.116 (attached).
I'm sorry but I couldn't understand python code well and I didn't
check other code modifing carefully.

It's better to ask upstream author what they changed.

segmentation fault happens soon after "(index fread failed): Success".

Segmentation fault

I tried LANG in C, ja_JP.EUC-JP, and sk_SK, but results are same.

My environemnt is same as Robert (on vmware). I haven't met this

I suspect other latin languages are affected by this bug.

Bug#309969: synaptic: segmentation fault

2005-05-21 Thread Kenshi Muto
Hi,

First, "Failed to exec method /usr/lib/apt/methods/ftp" is very
strange situation.
You did check by apt-get upgrade/dist-upgrade, but it doesn't help
investigation. ftp method will be called when update or install really
something.
I believe you will meet some errors when you do "apt-get update".

Please check your /usr/lib/apt/methods/ftp.

In my environment, apt 0.5.28.6 for i386 is:
# cd /usr/lib/apt/methods/ftp
# ls -l ftp
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 49464 Mar 22 16:18 ftp
# md5sum ftp
9b5275adb20636be2c320bb046c17846 ftp

I think your environment is something broken, synaptic and apt are innocence.

I checked all versions since I added /etc/default/cupsys feature, but
I couldn't find any problem.
cupsys package (and packages are created from cupsys source) hasn't
created /etc/default/cupsys DIRECTORY yet.

If you has a record of 'ls -ld /etc/default/cupsys', it may provides me
something. (but looks too late...)

I noticed you use a dll file (win32 codec) is Debian don't provide
officially, and such dll triggers a crash.
It's better to fix in the future, but is not release critical for
Sarge.

I experienced same situation.
In my case, I noticed KDE files in /tmp are owned by root instead of user by
something
accident.
And how about trying to move ~/.kde* and ~/.qt* to somewhere and restart?

Bug#310713: freeze when editing an XML file

2005-05-28 Thread Kenshi Muto
Hi,

I confirmed this problem and tried to find a solution with Akira
Tagoh.

This bug can be reproducible by resume.xml is submitter reported and
xml-resume-library package.
When the element may have CDATA in DTD and it hasn't any data in the
document, mlv freezes and crashes with segmentation fault in background.
We found handling of dummy node was something bad.

Here is a wordaround patch, although we aren't certain this is really
correct. As far as my test, there isn't no visible memory leak by this
patch.

I created a patch for missing two piece and modified djpig's patch to
suit Debian package.

All of them are taken from XFree86 CVS diff.
For test, ida and mwm looks still work correctly (although mwm misses
system.mwmrc by incorrect original rules).

Guilherme, what's status of your /usr/share/man/man1/pc.1.gz?
Could you check by ls -l and dpkg -S? If it points symlink, please
check referred file also.

Conflicting with gpc is solved by 2.0.0-2, but another package may

Nope, I believe this is the bug of qpopper-drac. qpopper (non drac

I checked both of qpopper's postinst and qpopper-drac's one, then I
noticed they are bit different as Akira mentioned.

This bug is dummy.

We, Debian CUPS team are considering what's best way to handle CUPS

So we prevent current CUPS enters testing.

I'm sorry for my delaying. I'm preparing to upload CUPS 1.2.1 to
experimental (then will upload to Unstable after merging feedbacks).
Because 1.1 series is officially disconnected from upstream, I want
to adopt 1.2 series for Etch.

As same as q-funk said, I don't want to enter 1.1.23-15 to unstable.
But of course I don't believe CUPS 1.2 series enter to testing
so soon, I'd like to use t-p-u to install 1.1.23-12 version for solving
current amd64 situation.

Could you tell me what's the best way to upload it?
I think:
1. Prepare etch environment and extract 1.1.23-12 source.
2. Set distribution to "testing-proposed-updates".
3. Increase version to "1.1.23-12etch1" or something.
4. Write changelog, for example "uploading for amd64".
5. Build and upload ftp-master.

The problem of "using private API" is temporary hacked by CUPS upstream,
http://www.cups.org/str.php?L1527+P0+S-1+C0+I0+E0+QKDE

About socket problem, I saw it on my machine once. But I couldn't
reproduce it on the other machine I owned.

In any case, there isn't any good solution from CUPS side.
I reassign this bug to kdeprint.

A patch for CUPS is always welcome if it doesn't break anything and is
acceptable for upstream also.

It's very strange.
Because cupsys 1.2.1-2 depends libcupsys2 (>=1.2.1), it's logically
impossible this happens.
What's your libcupsys2 version? You installed cupsys by apt-get/aptitude
or dpkg directly?

Although I'm not a maintainer and am just a admin of target machine,
maintainer's script looks very simple.

Maintainer runs cron every hour:
rsync -L -vaz --include="*/" --include="*.gz" --include="*.status"
--exclude="*" -e ssh merkel.debian.org:apt-listbugs public_html

Yes, it means that original database already exists on
merkel(aka qa.debian.org):~taru/apt-listbugs.

The traffic is about 500,000-900,000 hits per week on our server.

Because any decettion daemons (udev, hotplug, discover, and so on) won't
care about lp module, I'd already added a module loading routine to
the parallel backend of CUPS (26_modprobe.dpatch).

Although I don't perfectly understand why lp won't be loaded on
submitter's machine, I suspect this is because we've dropped some of root
privilege from CUPS.

I'm bit considering about loading lp module from CUPS init script instead
of from the parallel backend.

I see the problem. Debian CUPS has used "Include" directive, but you
use smallcap "include". Next version will check it with case insensitive.

So replace two "include" lines with following 3 lines:
Listen localhost:631
Listen /var/run/cups/cups.sock
Browsing On

I don't recommend to configure CUPS with KDEprint at this time.

Bug#377156: sablevm-classlib: FTBFS: jikes hangs up on arm

2006-07-06 Thread Kenshi Muto
Package: sablevm-classlib
Severity: serious
Version: 1.13-2

Hi,
As you can see, building sablevm-classlib always fails only
on arm architecture.
http://buildd.debian.org/build.php?arch=&pkg=sablevm-classlib

-
checking jikes version... 1.22
 ...
/usr/bin/jikes -q -g +Pno-shadow +Pno-switchcheck +F -encoding UTF-8
-bootclasspath '' -extdirs '' -sourcepath '' --classpath
..:../vm/reference:../external/w3c_dom:../external/sax:.: -d . @classes
-

Although official arm buildd failed by timeout, it won't be finished
forever on my personal buildd also even if I disabled timeout.

jikes (1:1.22-4) runs, but it seems hang up after some minutes later.
I detached by strace or gdb, but I couldn't see any beacon from jikes.

Because my ARM machine has 256MB memory and process seems use memory
not so much, I suspect this is ARM specific problem (m68k succeeds!)
of sablevm-classlib or jikes.

I'll try to make an additional report for you.

OK, it seems very similar. I reassign and merge it.

To be accurate, jikes doesn't eat all CPU or memory, but just stop
running with holding some CPU and memory.

Rubin's report seems be another issue.
Your /etc/cups/cupsd.conf is corrupted, and you'll see an error reason
in /var/log/cups/error_log. Maybe it lacks Port/Listen section (#376883).

Plus, cupsd forks by default. Try "cupsd -F" to run foreground mode.

Even so, we have to locate symlink on /usr/share/ppd for
third parties (by postinst?).
I checked source code and thought it was bit terrible to
add tweak code to support additional directory.

I'm considering whether it is ok or not from policy view to
provide symlink against /usr/local/share/ppd and /opt/ppd.
It will become a missing link if user hasn't these two directories.

2007-02-04 Thread Kenshi Muto
Package: iiimf-server

When I installed iiimf suite into pbuilder, I got an error:

It seems iiimf-server should depend libgtk2.0-bin.

OK, that's true.

I investigated this and found a problem.

cupsd 1.1 (sarge version) + libcupsys2 1.2 will crash with
"undefined symbol: cups_strlcpy".
libcupsys2 1.2 hasn't cups_strlcpy symbol but has _cups_strlcpy.

...Yes, upstream changed it silently without soname change.
r4683: Cleanup namespace so that private APIs and types use a leading
   underscore.

Thank you upstream, this hits us...
I'm thinking "is it safe to provide API compatible with 1.1?" and
checking symbols.

(I think it's too late to change soname.)

Please try:
1. apt-get install strace
2. /etc/init.d/cupsys stop
3. strace -o /tmp/cups.log cupsd -F
4. Do something to cause a crash
5. send me gzipped /tmp/cups.log

And your /etc/cups/ directory archive may help me to investigate.

The problem "CUPS doesn't provide any backends if there is an error
during installation" is already fixed in 1.2.1-4, #376499.

But you said CUPS didn't provide nothing even if you copied backend programs
from /usr/lib/cups/backend-available to /usr/lib/cups/backend, right?

What kind of printer do you use? USB connection?
Are you using udev?

Debansu, your problem isn't #380663, but #380619.
Temporary solution for you is to install newer cupsys and libcupsimage2
from backports.org if you'd like to keep to use libcupsys2 of
backport.org.

Bug#382126: libuim1: breaks smooth upgrade by incorrect transition way (and needs the transition work)

2006-08-08 Thread Kenshi Muto
Package: libuim1
Severity: serious
Version: 1:1.1.1-1
Tags: sid

Hello,

I noticed you bumped up soname of libuim.
Sadly, your doing for libuim package seems wrong, and
it's bit late to solve this by a smooth way.

0. hm, soname is bumped up... This is not a problem, but
soname change (API incompatibility) makes a transition work.

Will libuim change it again in the near future?
You should better define which version you'd like to adopt
for next stable Etch. All of dependent packages are affected.

Please keep in mind that library transition makes a confuse for
a while and you need to ask about it to release-team at first.

1. "libuim1 conflicts with libuim0" makes:
This is absolutely wrong. This prevents to coexist a package
uses libuim0 and another one uses libuim1.
I understand both libuim0 and libuim1 include files have same name
   - plugin and locale files. Please move them to other NEW or
existing packages for next transition. Even if it's too late to
   avoid current situation.

2. "libuim1 replaces libuim0"?:
Confuses and seems wrong. If upstream changed soname, it means
that libuim1 is incompatible with libuim0.

I want to stop that libuim1 enters in testing, till the appropriate
transition path is planned.

Thanks,

FYI:
$ apt-cache rdepends libuim0
libuim0
Reverse Depends:
  scim-uim
  mlterm-im-uim
  libuim1-dbg
  libuim1
  libuim1

It's small but good news that the number of affected official

Package: im-sdk
Severity: grave
Version: 12.3.91-0.2
Tags: sid

Hi,
I noticed I couldn't compile my maintaining package mlterm with
libiiimcf-dev 12.3.91.

1. header files seemed move subdirectory /usr/include/iiim.
It's better to modify each #include of header files indicate "iiim/..."
if you move header files to subdirectory.
Well, it's not a grave bug although each maintainers have to
   modify their source.

2. you seems forget to include some header files, such as
iiimp-file-operation.h. By missing files, I couldn't build mlterm
(and maybe other iiimf related packages) after all.

P.S.
buildd log seems there is 64bit FTBFS in current im-sdk also.

cupsd will send SIGKILL to the filter processes if cupsdFreeAllJobs

I'm sorry Laurent, but your log only showed you removed all jobs.

Original bug report by Vedran may be considerable as grave rather
than as important, but I haven't met it on my test environment.

Bug#415527: uim: FTBFS: missing versioning gtk

2007-03-19 Thread Kenshi Muto
Package: uim
Version: 1:1.4.1-1
Severity: serious
Tags: experimental

Hi,
Building uim on my ARM experimental-buildd was failed due to missing
command "dh_gtkmodules".
dh_gtkmodules seems be only in experimental libgtk2.0-dev.
It seems you have to add version dependency against libgtk2.0-dev.

 ...
dh_gconf -puim-gtk2.0
dh_desktop -puim-gtk2.0
dh_gtkmodules
make: dh_gtkmodules: Command not found
make: *** [binary-post-install/uim-gtk2.0] Error 127
**
Build finished at 20070319-1945
FAILED [dpkg-buildpackage died]

Bug#409785: scala: FTBFS: concurrent is not a member of java.util

AFAIK java.util.concurrent library is JDK 1.5 feature.
I think your pbuilder installed kaffe or gcj instead of sun-j2sdk
to satisfy java-compiler and java-virtual-machine, but they
haven't supported its version yet.

Maintainer wrote a dependency as:
Build-Depends: sun-java5-jdk | java-compiler, java-gcj-compat-dev,
sun-java5-jre | java-virtual-machine, ant,  debhelper (>= 5)

Hm, depending non-free-package from main-package seems very bad.

  Policy 2.2.1:
main must not require a package outside of main for compilation or execution
(thus, the package must not declare a "Depends", "Recommends", or
  Build-Depends" relationship on a non-main package),

Maintainer, did you build this pacakge with sun-java5-jdk?
I think it's better to move this package since 2.3.2 to contrib
section until gcj or other DFSG-free JDK support the 1.5 features.

Thanks,

Show us your /etc/apt/sources.list and the result of
"apt-cache policy cupsys".
