Bug#1054921: [Quantlib-dev] Build error for quantlib-swig on mips64el

2023-10-30 Thread Luigi Ballabio
Hello Dirk, unfortunately I have no idea what can cause this — do you think
it possible that the size of the wrappers crossed some threshold and
relocations started to occur that weren't there before?

Bug#980482: chromium: upgrade to 87 breaks browser window rendering

Dear Maintainer,

I upgraded chromium on Debian stable (buster) from
83.0.4103.116-1~deb10u3 to 87.0.4280.141-0.1~deb10u1.

After this upgrade chromium becomes completely unusable to me, which
means, that the chromium window isn't rendered as expected.
When I open a website or click on a link the web page doesn't show,
also the tab title isn't updated, only the window title changes to the
new page.
Sometimes (if page is already in cache) it seems that the web page is
shown, but usually not completely updated.
But there is a trick to get the web page rendered: Switch to a
different screen and back here and after this the browser window is
rendered as expected.

[cut]

Dear Roland, dear Maintainer,

this bug may really be a duplicate of #979017 or be related to it.

I have the same issue as described in the present bug on an old-ish
laptop with a 3rd generation i7 and using the integrated Intel GPU.
After disabling hardware acceleration, chromium
87.0.4280.141-0.1~deb10u1 became functional again. On the other hand, I
don't reproduce the issue on a desktop with a discrete nVidia GPU. The
issue may be specific to Intel GPUs.

I would like to ask Roland to test and report.

Best regards,
Pier Luigi Pau

Bug#903713: plasma-browser-integration: "This_file_is_part_of_KDE" in debian/copyright?

2018-07-14 Thread Luigi Toscano

Maximiliano Curia ha scritto:

¡Hola Luigi!

El 2018-07-14 a las 10:37 +0100, Chris Lamb escribió:

My interpretation of this is that the intention is to assign the copyright
to the kde project, although it's not a hundred percent clear.

I should have been clearer, sorry — I understand you are going with
whatever the file says but I am requesting that you make this clearer,
perhaps by getting a statement from upstream or similar.

"This_file_is_part_of_KDE" is really not suitable as an author,
whatever the file says, after all.

Chris raised the issue of the po files distributed by kde containing some (not
very clear) template parts, in particular the copyright assignments to
This_file_is_part_of_KDE.

I'm not sure that's a copyright assignment. Usually we have the FLA for that:
https://ev.kde.org/rules/fla.php

I suspect that it was a replacement of the standard copyright assignation to
the FSF which was there in the early days but it really did not fit.
I tracked it back to this change, from 2006 (the string was later changed to
used underscores instead of spaces):

https://websvn.kde.org/?view=revision&revision=505466

The message is probably incorrect (without copyright is all reserved, not
public domain) but it has been like that for a while.

I'm not sure I'm allowed to decide if it's a copyright assignment or not. I'm
probably going to ask the board of the KDE e.V., as it is a legal question.
I added Albert Astal Cid, who is and has been in charge of in the i18n team
more than me, he was part of the board in the past, and maybe we can discuss
what to do.

With your kde i18n team hat on, would you consider it feasible to replace
these strings with something clearer?

If the intention is for the translators to assign the copyright to kde it
should be assigned to KDE.e.V, if the intention is for each translator to keep
the copyright assignment the This_file_is_part_of_KDE part of the template
needs to be updated to say AUTHOR .

The first case should be "scriptable" the second case, would need to manually
modifying each po file that contains the "This_file_is_part_of_KDE" text.

As I said, I don't think it's the first case, but I can ask to the e.V.

If it's going to be the second case, I don't think that's practical when the
list of authors is still in the file. Shouldn't a string like

Copyright (C) the respective authors (see below)
work? Or something more legally fitting.

Finally, a request: please lower the severity of this bug. It's not a
regression, and I would assume good faith on something that has been the same
for the past 10+ years, without having a "serious" bug in the middle.

Ciao

Bug#863722: The fix is not correct, no more translations

2017-07-06 Thread Luigi Toscano
reopen 863722

Hi,
the fix is not the correct one, kdenlive has no more translations.
Specifically the sentence:

Drop usr/share/doc/HTML and usr/share/locale from kdenlive-data. The files
are now provided by the kde-l10n packages.

On one side, usr/share/doc/HTML/en was always provided by the main package.
This change removed it.

The translations of the documentation from usr/share/doc/HTML/ with
!= en and the translations of the GUI from /usr/share/locale *were*
provided by kde-l10n-xy until the version part of KDE Applications 16.12.

Since the release of KDE Applications 17.04, the translations of Qt5
applications are part of each tarball, exactly how it happens for Plasma,
Frameworks and the other applications released by the KDE community:
https://community.kde.org/Applications/17.04_Release_Notes#Translations

So please restore the translations in the kdenlive-data package. This may
require a temporary conflict or a new upload of kde-l10n-xy.

I didn't find an upstream bug, but this issue was fixed in kdelibs commit
150d983674e9d61e2809316e062e5d91c7855609, see:

https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kdelibs.git&a=commit&h=150d983674e9d61e2809316e062e5d91c7855609

This commit is part of any kdelibs >= 4.14.11. Right now 4.14.13 is available
in sid and testing.

I also tried the steps described above (go to a website with a text area, like
pastebin.com, using the KHTML part) and indeed no keys are logged anymore.

Therefore I'm going to close this bug.

Ciao

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply, libecap3 upload was necessary to be able to upload
squid 3.5 packages and took a long time to be accepted. An upload of squid 3.5
is almost ready and will go in in the next few days.

Bug#776461: squid3: Excessive CPU consumption (or crash) when contacting servers with many IP addresses

Bug#773032: squid3: prompting due to modified conffiles which were not modified by the user: /etc/squid3/squid.conf

Can you please provide more information on this process? Which version was the
original install before the upgrade to 3.8.4-4?

> This is a violation of policy 10.7.3, see
> https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html#s10.7.3,

I suspect that this comes from the fix we applied for #768170 which was a more
critical bug while upgrading from Wheezy, since a line that was active by
default in previous configuration now makes squid3 unable to start after
upgrade.

We choose to comment out that line during upgrade, in a script modifying
/etc/squid3/squid.conf.

In our tests we did not experience the behavior you reported, so I need more
information to confirm that this is the case.

Regards,

L

Hi,

If I read correctly, you took the jessie sources and recompiled it on wheezy,
changing dependencies to another library. Then you filed a Release-Criticl bug
on the jessie version because your custom built package does not work.

I’ve just downgraded your bug and tagged it as unreproducible (we don’t have a
copy of your package to test) and wontfix (we don’t provide supporto to
packages not provided by Debian build infrastructure).

Since this segfault may still affect the backport version od 3.4.8-4 that I
just uploaded, I’m keeping this bug report open. Please install that package
from back ports (it uses libecap, just like the jessie version) and test if the
bug is still there.

Best regards,

L

2014-11-10 Thread Luigi Gangitano
Hi Andrey,

Thanks a lot for you patch. I’ve added it and uploaded 0.2.0-3 right now.

I’ll push the patch upstream but since it has already moved to 1.0.0 with
different autoconf script I don’t see the chance for it to be applied.

Bug#741738: zoneminder: stream sock error: No such file or directory

2014-04-16 Thread Luigi Cirillo
Of course, I installed zoneminder on Jessie, I use it only for testing
purpose so in a local network. All devices are connected through WiFi.
The camera is an Ip camera Foscam like.
Everything work on Wheezy, instead.

Bug#741738: zoneminder: stream sock error: No such file or directory

2014-03-16 Thread Luigi Cirillo
Package: zoneminder
Version: 1.26.5-3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,
I tied to enable all logs of zoneminder but the only information I got is the
same of apache error log:
[Sun Mar 16 13:05:30.095183 2014] [:error] [pid 4383] [client ::1:53603] ERR

referer: http://localhost/zm/?view=watch&mid=1

This is the zm log:

So I can not see the cam stream, but the stream of camera is available from
vlc, for example.

Thank you if you can help me.

Yes, I followed the wiki page and I wrote the file
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia.conf
but the result is the same.
In a second attempt I deleted the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia.conf and
used nvidia-config. No difference

A bit of details here:
http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports#Retrieving_a_backtrace_with_GDB

In your case you probably need, in addition to kdelibs5-dbg, also
kde-runtime-dbg.

Run basket using gdb:
$ gdb basket
(gdb) run --nofork
... wait for the crash
(gdb) thread apply all backtrace

and please attach the output of the last command to this bug.

Could you please also provide an answer to the other questions?

I tried to install it on a:

Was the system a freshly installed one? Did you already had some configuration
files for basket? Is it the first run of basket, or were you able to run it
successfully at least once? If the latter, it looks like
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275556

Can you please try to install the debug packages for kdelibs, kde and run the

With the help of Amos, I've uploaded a new squid3 package that is compatible
with (almost all) squid3 features and am now planning the right setup to
substitute current squid 2.7 installations.

Do you have any suggestion on this process?

I'm sorry for being a little out-of-service lately. I wish to apologize, but at
the same time confirm that I'm always following and keeping track of all the
issues. Regarding this specific issue, I'm in favor of removing the misleading
warning from the druapl7 package that is going to be shipped with wheezy.

Please Gunnar let me know if you want me to package an -2 version that
acknowledges all the NMUs and fixes the warning and how you prefer it to be
uploaded.

Regards,

L

Actually, all of them contain references to drupal6 both in package names and
directories (/usr/share/drupal6) so updating would require a NEW upload and
with freeze already in place the will not be included in wheezy.

All drupal6 modules (drupal6-mod-*) are incompatible with drupal7 and should be
removed as well.

I'm temporarly downgrading this bug so that the just-uploaded 6.26 version can

Bug#668065: Remove drupal6 in favour of drupal7?

> Note that I'm not the Drupal maintainer - That's Luigi

My opinion, as discussed with the security team, is that wheezy should be
released with drupal7 only. Since the security effort is not only on my side
but also on theirs, they asked for drupal6 removal.

As for every previous version, there is no direct upgrade path for drupal
installations. The only way is setup a new site and move all the content (mods,
themes, pages, etc.) over by hand. I know this could be a painful process and
it's surely one of the downsides of drupal. BTW is the reason why I don't
package any drupal mod in the same package or as a separate package.

I will downgrade this bug for a while, so that a final 6.23 version can be
uploaded and transitioned into testing and thus be available from the archive
for those sysadmins who need it.

Then my plan is for drupal6 removal, but I'm always open to any suggestion.

Regards,

L

Thanks for your patience. This was indeed a bug in dh automatic build system
detection which tried to build sarg with cmake instead of common autoconf
(which should, IMHO, be the preferred choice if present).

Sarg uses cmake for mingw builds on Windows and this is why it does not work
with cmake in debian.

Strange enough, I don't have cmake installed on my build system and my builds
gets correctly completed with autoconf, so it took me pretty long to identify
the source of this bug.

In the 2.3.2-2 version, which I'm uploading right now, the build system is
manually chosen.

L

Hi Cristoph,

I cannot reproduce this bug, can you please check the debhelper version on the

be a debhelper bug, not a sarg one.

I experience this on KDE 4 as well as Gnome 3 and XFCE 4.

Version 2.3.dfsg-1 worked fine.

Rebuilding the package on my own box also seems to fix the problem,
which may (or may not) be limited to the uploaded amd64 binary (at
this time I don't have a testing/unstable debian installed on
platforms other than amd64).

If you need any further information please feel free to ask.

Best regards.

Bug#565738: drupal: shouldn't enable on all sites by default

2010-09-20 Thread Luigi Gangitano
Matt,
can you please explain why you think this bug is 'grave' and not just
'important'?

To me, grave definition is:

makes the package in question unusable or mostly so, or causes data loss, or
introduces a security hole allowing access to the accounts of users who use the
package

and I cannot se any of this characteristics in this bug. Nor I found any debian
policy violated. Can you point me to it?

Regards,

L

Bug#589532: grub-rescue-pc: still does not depend on xorriso, although it should

2010-07-18 Thread Pier Luigi Pau
Package: grub-rescue-pc
Version: 1.98+20100710-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Greetings,

changelog for version 1.98+20100527-1 mentions:
[cut]
   * Suggest xorriso (>= 0.5.6.pl00) in grub-common, since grub-mkrescue now
needs it. Depend on it in grub-rescue-pc.
[cut]

However, grub-rescue-pc still does not depend on xorriso (or the
dependency was removed by mistake - I haven't reviewed every version
since), and it is possible to install the former without the latter
being automatically installed, with the result that grub-mkrescue
exits with an error message:

# grub-mkrescue -o 20100718a.iso
Enabling BIOS support ...
/usr/bin/grub-mkrescue: 323: xorriso: not found

Of course, the iso image is not created.

Best regards,
Pier Luigi Pau

Bug#578047: no reproducible build

2010-04-23 Thread Luigi Gangitano
Hi Bastian, Adam,
you are saying that squid3's configure should fail if optional features cannot
be built when requested via --enable- switches.

Actually I've seen squid3 behavior in many different projects, so was not
expecting it to do anything different.

I will forward this request upstream and try to develop a patch against
configure.

L

squid-cgi uses an internal communication channel to show running configuration.
You should take a look at it.

2010-04-15 Thread Luigi Gangitano
Flavio, Gabor,
thanks for your report. Unfortunately this bug is caused by a little error in
maintainer files and should have been catched by testing and didn't.

The next upload of squid3, due in the next few minutes, will fix this bug but
will not get your squid.conf back.

Please consider using a stable version or testing for your production sites. :-)

i downloaded sources from debian repository, but i don't know how to
modify libmtp's rules to create a package with debug symbols.
in mtpfs's rules must i add "-g -o0" to cflags?

Bug#573524: 'dpkg-reconfigure drupal6' inherits the old user password for a new database

2010-03-12 Thread Luigi Gangitano
severity 573524 normal
tags 573524 +moreinfo
thanks

Hi,
would you please explain this issue with more details?

dbconfig-common is used in drupal6 to automatically create a database for
single domain installation. Is provided for the administrator convenience for
simple installation and does not handle multiple db configurations.

Administrator is asked if dbconfig-common should be used for database
configuration at the beginning of drupal6 install. Admins planning to use
multiple DBs should skip the auto-configuration and add site-specific database
configuration by hand.

I don't see the security issue either, since dpkg-reconfigure can only be run
by root and root can always access /etc/dbconfig-common/drupal6.conf and read
the database password.

Regards,

L

Hello,

I couldn't get tomcat6 6.0.24-2 to start, either, and so far I haven't

An interesting behaviour I noticed: running /etc/init.d/tomcat6 start
manually gave me an indication of failure; instead, if I rebooted my
box altogether, it apparently worked, and I had a file with a process
id at /var/run/tomcat6.pid, but by the time I could get into a shell,
the process had somehow disappeared (died?). /etc/init.d/tomcat6 stop
would answer that tomcat6 wasn't running, /etc/init.d/tomcat6 start
would complain that there was a pid file and therefore nothing had to
be done.

Bug#566402: prompting due to modified conffiles which where not modified by the user

2010-02-16 Thread Luigi Gangitano
Hi Holger,
this bug is due to a move of configuration file from the /etc/squid to the
/etc/sarg directory.

Please excuse my ignorance. Evidently dpkg doesn't carry information on moved
config files. Is there any way to avoid that prompt while still keeping the
move?

Regards,

L

Bug#538226: squid: Error Pages moved

2009-07-26 Thread Luigi Gangitano

reassign 538226 squid-langpack
severity 538226 normal
thanks

Hi Ralf,
as noted in README.Debian in 2.7.STABLE6-2, error pages have been
moved to a different package (squid-langpack) which is in common
between squid and squid3 and updated indipendently upstream. With this
change directory for languages are names with ISO codes. Instructions
on needed configuration fixes are in README.Debian already.

The next version of squid-langpack will ship compatibility links for
old-style configurations.

for problem whit "style" setup there is a solution posted on eric4
mailing list, but, anyhow, i don't have this problem some days ago and
i did't have it before i moved "~/.config" (i could click on "style").
you can read "i can't configure eric4" thread; first mail is mine.

Bug#490893: Related to portmap?

Submitter and Luigi, is your problem caused by portmap?

Yes, it is (I can only speak for myself, obviously).
I simply disabled portmap from automatic execution and my laptop cleanly
unmounts the partitions during shutdown.

Strangely enough, portmap terminates correctly on other computers of
mine (debian lenny). I was not able to find any relevant difference.

Bug#495122: fixed NMU

2008-08-19 Thread Luigi Gangitano

Guys,
thanks for your work with drupal. I took a couple of days off and
could not answer your requests. Since I had already asked the Release
Team for an exception, drupal5_5.10-1 has been accepted today in
lenny, completely closing this bug.

If you still wish to help with drupal maintenance, please take a look
at the pkg-drupal Alioth project at

  http://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-drupal/

you will find references to the SVN repository and practices used in
drupal packaging.

I just fixed those things in a new upload here:

I hope that works for you guys.

Bug#468347: anki: Missing dependency on python-pysqlite2

Package: anki

Anki starts correctly if forced to run with python2.5
(python2.5 /usr/bin/anki) or if python-pysqlite2 is installed.

Since it seems that python2.4 is still the default for sid, I think
anki should depend on python-pysqlite2 for the time being. When python2.5
is default, the dependency can be updated accordingly.

thanks for you report. I'll keep the bug record open another week and

I didn't receive your debug dump, maybe it has been rejected on the

look at it and forward it upstream, so the exact issue can be tracked.

I've been using RC1 for two weeks now (since it appeared) and the bug
seems to be gone. I guess you can close this bug then.

Did you get the debug dump I sent you? It was rather large and I got
some bounce messages a few days later, but forgot to follow up on it.
Some relatives visited and other things came up, so I'm sorry I didn't
keep you informed.

Sometimes the page itself would be replaced by an icon or some other

The patch doesn't seem to have changed anything with regard to this

Bug#440646: squid3: Incorrect content returned by pre7

2007-09-03 Thread Luigi Gangitano

Hi Ian,
this bug may be related to the large object (>2GB) support introduced
upstream between PRE6 and PRE7. Can you please try the follow:

- backup your cache_dir (just move it to somewhere else)
- create a new cache_dir (squid will create it automatically if you
point it to an empty directory)

- check if error persists

If this doesn't happen with a fresh cache_dir, the issue could be
related to the code that updates format of object indexes. Otherwise
we need the old cache_dir to investigate what is wrong in you
indexes. Did you create this cache_dir with a squid3 package or it
was created with an earlier (2.x) version?

Regards,

L

Starting with PRE7, squid3 appears to return data from other recent
URLs. For example: browsing ftp.kernel.org, I clicked on a
changelog file

to read it. I instead got one of the filetype icons. I reloaded and
got another icon. It took a few reloads to get the intended changelog
to load. On another occasion, a Wikipedia article was seriously
corrupted. Pages which load many style sheets, little images,
javascript, etc seem to be most succeptable to this bug.

Bug#436340: Installation freezes during "configure the clock" step

2007-08-07 Thread Luigi Rocca

I spent some more time trying to understand what happens, and I came to the
following conclusions:

The problem seems to occur in the line 29 of the script
/var/lib/dpkg/info/clock-setup.postinst, "db_progress step 1".
If I comment out this line, everything goes on fine.
I'm new to debian, but I guess that it has something to do with the progress
bar (which seems to remain stuck at 0% after this modification, i really can't
tell because the screen changes very quickly).

What happens is quite strange, however. After I noticed that both the systems
I was trying to install on had a negative clock skew of 2 hours or more from the
retrieved UTC time, I experimented a bit with hw clock values (changing them
from
bios) and found out that:
- Only negative clock skew make the script hang.
- The script seems not to hang, but to *wait* an amount of time proportional to
the clock skew found by rdate before going on to the partitioning step.
I've actually tried this with -1s, -30s, -90s...

In the end I was quite curious, so I've tried to search for some documentation
for
db_progress in the debian developer's reference and in the debconf
specification,
but I couldn't find nothing really useful (at first sight, anyway).

Hopefully, with this info the problem should be replicable.

Anyway, I'm sending back the logs of an execution trace of the
lock-setup.postinst
script.

Bug#425923: quantlib: FTBFS with new boost libraries

2007-06-04 Thread Luigi Ballabio

Dirk,
I've just released QuantLib 0.8.1. It took a while to figure out the
autoconf/automake magic I needed, but now it should work with Boost
1.34. Let me know if there are any problems.

Later,
    Luigi

As reported in the cited thread, the API of the Boost unit-test
framework changed somewhat. In particular, the shared library we link
against used to define a main() function, but no longer does so---which
is the probable source of the error (what does config.log say? It should
include a log of the failed test with the exact compilation or linker
error.) In short, we'll probably have to change the test sources to
make it work with the new framework. As soon as I get 0.8.0 out, I'll
make the changes and release 0.8.1 to add 1.34 support and fix your
build. But please let me release 0.8.0 first. It's finalized now, and I
rather not reopen it and restart a release cycle because Boost made a
release.

Weird. But as I don't know anything about mips, I'd check the suggestion
of the developer who reported the bug. Do you have the log of the main
QuantLib compilation? Is it possible to check that it did include -fPIC
at each g++ invocation?

Later,
Luigi

And I see the same with the 0.8.0 (pre-)release snapshot of May 25.

Luigi -- looks like configure needs some help. Are you still
developing on

Debian?

Almost. I switched to Ubuntu a few months ago when I got a new laptop.

Do you have our Boost 1.34 installed?

Not yet. The Boost 1.34 release was exceptionally bad timing for us,
since we were finalizing release 0.8.0 when it was made. Instead of
installing 1.34 and restarting the tests (which I did suspect would
fail---see <http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lib.boost.devel/159278>)
I chose not to further delay 0.8.0. In fact, the release notes suggest
to use 1.33.1 on Linux systems. If this makes things difficult for you,
I'll try and make a 0.8.1 release to add Boost 1.34 compatibility; but
at this point 0.8.0 is frozen.

Later,
    Luigi

I'm sorry but a dependency on any 2.6 kernel would not imply a
*running* 2.6 kernel and would also be missing when using a custom
built kernel.
