Bug#1054921: [Quantlib-dev] Build error for quantlib-swig on mips64el
Hello Dirk, unfortunately I have no idea what can cause this — do you think it possible that the size of the wrappers crossed some threshold and relocations started to occur that weren't there before? Bug#980482: chromium: upgrade to 87 breaks browser window rendering
On Tue, 19 Jan 2021 17:12:17 +0100 Roland Rosenfeld wrote: Package: chromium Version: 87.0.4280.141-0.1~deb10u1 Severity: serious Tags: buster Dear Maintainer, I upgraded chromium on Debian stable (buster) from 83.0.4103.116-1~deb10u3 to 87.0.4280.141-0.1~deb10u1. After this upgrade chromium becomes completely unusable to me, which means, that the chromium window isn't rendered as expected. When I open a website or click on a link the web page doesn't show, also the tab title isn't updated, only the window title changes to the new page. Sometimes (if page is already in cache) it seems that the web page is shown, but usually not completely updated. But there is a trick to get the web page rendered: Switch to a different screen and back here and after this the browser window is rendered as expected. [cut] Dear Roland, dear Maintainer, this bug may really be a duplicate of #979017 or be related to it. I have the same issue as described in the present bug on an old-ish laptop with a 3rd generation i7 and using the integrated Intel GPU. After disabling hardware acceleration, chromium 87.0.4280.141-0.1~deb10u1 became functional again. On the other hand, I don't reproduce the issue on a desktop with a discrete nVidia GPU. The issue may be specific to Intel GPUs. I would like to ask Roland to test and report. Best regards, Pier Luigi Pau

Bug#903713: plasma-browser-integration: "This_file_is_part_of_KDE" in debian/copyright?
Maximiliano Curia ha scritto: ¡Hola Luigi! El 2018-07-14 a las 10:37 +0100, Chris Lamb escribió: My interpretation of this is that the intention is to assign the copyright to the kde project, although it's not a hundred percent clear. I should have been clearer, sorry — I understand you are going with whatever the file says but I am requesting that you make this clearer, perhaps by getting a statement from upstream or similar. "This_file_is_part_of_KDE" is really not suitable as an author, whatever the file says, after all. Chris raised the issue of the po files distributed by kde containing some (not very clear) template parts, in particular the copyright assignments to This_file_is_part_of_KDE. I'm not sure that's a copyright assignment. Usually we have the FLA for that: https://ev.kde.org/rules/fla.php I suspect that it was a replacement of the standard copyright assignation to the FSF which was there in the early days but it really did not fit. I tracked it back to this change, from 2006 (the string was later changed to used underscores instead of spaces): https://websvn.kde.org/?view=revision&revision=505466 The message is probably incorrect (without copyright is all reserved, not public domain) but it has been like that for a while. I'm not sure I'm allowed to decide if it's a copyright assignment or not. I'm probably going to ask the board of the KDE e.V., as it is a legal question. I added Albert Astal Cid, who is and has been in charge of in the i18n team more than me, he was part of the board in the past, and maybe we can discuss what to do. With your kde i18n team hat on, would you consider it feasible to replace these strings with something clearer? If the intention is for the translators to assign the copyright to kde it should be assigned to KDE.e.V, if the intention is for each translator to keep the copyright assignment the This_file_is_part_of_KDE part of the template needs to be updated to say AUTHOR . The first case should be "scriptable" the second case, would need to manually modifying each po file that contains the "This_file_is_part_of_KDE" text. As I said, I don't think it's the first case, but I can ask to the e.V. If it's going to be the second case, I don't think that's practical when the list of authors is still in the file. Shouldn't a string like Copyright (C) the respective authors (see below) work? Or something more legally fitting. Finally, a request: please lower the severity of this bug. It's not a regression, and I would assume good faith on something that has been the same for the past 10+ years, without having a "serious" bug in the middle. Ciao -- Luigi

Bug#863722: The fix is not correct, no more translations
reopen 863722 Hi, the fix is not the correct one, kdenlive has no more translations. Specifically the sentence: Drop usr/share/doc/HTML and usr/share/locale from kdenlive-data. The files are now provided by the kde-l10n packages. On one side, usr/share/doc/HTML/en was always provided by the main package. This change removed it. The translations of the documentation from usr/share/doc/HTML/ with != en and the translations of the GUI from /usr/share/locale *were* provided by kde-l10n-xy until the version part of KDE Applications 16.12. Since the release of KDE Applications 17.04, the translations of Qt5 applications are part of each tarball, exactly how it happens for Plasma, Frameworks and the other applications released by the KDE community: https://community.kde.org/Applications/17.04_Release_Notes#Translations So please restore the translations in the kdenlive-data package. This may require a temporary conflict or a new upload of kde-l10n-xy. -- Luigi (who helped upstream to split the translations)

Bug#773032: squid3: prompting due to modified conffiles which were not modified by the user: /etc/squid3/squid.conf

As there is no user input, this fails. > But this is not the real problem, the real problem is that this prompt > shows up in the first place, as there was nobody modifying this conffile > at all, the package has just been installed and upgraded… Can you please provide more information on this process? Which version was the original install before the upgrade to 3.8.4-4? > This is a violation of policy 10.7.3, see > https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html#s10.7.3, > which says "[These scripts handling conffiles] must not ask unnecessary > questions (particularly during upgrades), and must otherwise be good > citizens.” I suspect that this comes from the fix we applied for #768170 which was a more critical bug while upgrading from Wheezy, since a line that was active by default in previous configuration now makes squid3 unable to start after upgrade. We choose to comment out that line during upgrade, in a script modifying /etc/squid3/squid.conf. In our tests we did not experience the behavior you reported, so I need more information to confirm that this is the case. Hi, If I read correctly, you took the jessie sources and recompiled it on wheezy, changing dependencies to another library. Then you filed a Release-Criticl bug on the jessie version because your custom built package does not work. I’ve just downgraded your bug and tagged it as unreproducible (we don’t have a copy of your package to test) and wontfix (we don’t provide supporto to packages not provided by Debian build infrastructure). Since this segfault may still affect the backport version od 3.4.8-4 that I just uploaded, I’m keeping this bug report open. Please install that package from back ports (it uses libecap, just like the jessie version) and test if the bug is still there. Bug#668065: Remove drupal6 in favour of drupal7?
Hi everybody, Il giorno 20/apr/2012, alle ore 20:21, Gunnar Wolf ha scritto: > Note that I'm not the Drupal maintainer - That's Luigi > Gangitano. Luigi, what's your opinion on this? My opinion, as discussed with the security team, is that wheezy should be released with drupal7 only. Since the security effort is not only on my side but also on theirs, they asked for drupal6 removal. As for every previous version, there is no direct upgrade path for drupal installations. The only way is setup a new site and move all the content (mods, themes, pages, etc.) over by hand. I know this could be a painful process and it's surely one of the downsides of drupal. BTW is the reason why I don't package any drupal mod in the same package or as a separate package. I will downgrade this bug for a while, so that a final 6.23 version can be uploaded and transitioned into testing and thus be available from the archive for those sysadmins who need it. Then my plan is for drupal6 removal, but I'm always open to any suggestion. This was indeed a bug in dh automatic build system detection which tried to build sarg with cmake instead of common autoconf (which should, IMHO, be the preferred choice if present). Sarg uses cmake for mingw builds on Windows and this is why it does not work with cmake in debian. Strange enough, I don't have cmake installed on my build system and my builds gets correctly completed with autoconf, so it took me pretty long to identify the source of this bug. In the 2.3.2-2 version, which I'm uploading right now, the build system is manually chosen. Bug#573524: 'dpkg-reconfigure drupal6' inherits the old user password for a new database
severity 573524 normal tags 573524 +moreinfo thanks Hi, would you please explain this issue with more details? dbconfig-common is used in drupal6 to automatically create a database for single domain installation. Is provided for the administrator convenience for simple installation and does not handle multiple db configurations. Administrator is asked if dbconfig-common should be used for database configuration at the beginning of drupal6 install. Admins planning to use multiple DBs should skip the auto-configuration and add site-specific database configuration by hand. I don't see the security issue either, since dpkg-reconfigure can only be run by root and root can always access /etc/dbconfig-common/drupal6.conf and read the database password. Hello, I couldn't get tomcat6 6.0.24-2 to start, either, and so far I haven't found anything better to do than revert to a previous version (6.0.20-dfsg1-1). This is on amd64, for the record. Bug#538226: squid: Error Pages moved
reassign 538226 squid-langpack severity 538226 normal thanks Hi Ralf, as noted in README.Debian in 2.7.STABLE6-2, error pages have been moved to a different package (squid-langpack) which is in common between squid and squid3 and updated indipendently upstream. With this change directory for languages are names with ISO codes. Instructions on needed configuration fixes are in README.Debian already. The next version of squid-langpack will ship compatibility links for old-style configurations. Ian, thanks for your test. This excludes what upstream supposed regarding another bug that was already fixed after PRE7. Since upstream asked for full debug output of squid3 to diagnose the issue, can you please set debug_options to ALL,9 in your configuration file and send the cache.log portion that is written when the bug appears? You can follow the upstream bug report at http://www.squid-cache.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=2079 Thanks, L Il giorno 21/set/07, alle ore 07:13, Ian Tester ha scritto: Thanks for that. Bug#440646: squid3: Incorrect content returned by pre7
Hi Ian, this bug may be related to the large object (>2GB) support introduced upstream between PRE6 and PRE7. Can you please try the follow: - backup your cache_dir (just move it to somewhere else) - create a new cache_dir (squid will create it automatically if you point it to an empty directory) - check if error persists If this doesn't happen with a fresh cache_dir, the issue could be related to the code that updates format of object indexes. Otherwise we need the old cache_dir to investigate what is wrong in you indexes. Did you create this cache_dir with a squid3 package or it was created with an earlier (2.x) version? Regards, L Il giorno 03/set/07, alle ore 13:43, ian ha scritto: Starting with PRE7, squid3 appears to return data from other recent URLs. For example: browsing ftp.kernel.org, I clicked on a changelog file to read it. I instead got one of the filetype icons. I reloaded and got another icon. It took a few reloads to get the intended changelog to load. On another occasion, a Wikipedia article was seriously corrupted. Pages which load many style sheets, little images, javascript, etc seem to be most succeptable to this bug. -- Luigi Gangitano -- <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -- <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> GPG: 1024D/924C0C26: 12F8 9C03 89D3 DB4A 9972 C24A F19B A618 924C 0C26 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#436340: Installation freezes during "configure the clock" step
I spent some more time trying to understand what happens, and I came to the following conclusions: The problem seems to occur in the line 29 of the script /var/lib/dpkg/info/clock-setup.postinst, "db_progress step 1". If I comment out this line, everything goes on fine. I'm new to debian, but I guess that it has something to do with the progress bar (which seems to remain stuck at 0% after this modification, i really can't tell because the screen changes very quickly). What happens is quite strange, however. After I noticed that both the systems I was trying to install on had a negative clock skew of 2 hours or more from the retrieved UTC time, I experimented a bit with hw clock values (changing them from bios) and found out that: - Only negative clock skew make the script hang. - The script seems not to hang, but to *wait* an amount of time proportional to the clock skew found by rdate before going on to the partitioning step. I've actually tried this with -1s, -30s, -90s... In the end I was quite curious, so I've tried to search for some documentation for db_progress in the debian developer's reference and in the debconf specification, but I couldn't find nothing really useful (at first sight, anyway). Hopefully, with this info the problem should be replicable. Anyway, I'm sending back the logs of an execution trace of the lock-setup.postinst script. Dirk, I've just released QuantLib 0.8.1. It took a while to figure out the autoconf/automake magic I needed, but now it should work with Boost 1.34. Let me know if there are any problems. As reported in the cited thread, the API of the Boost unit-test framework changed somewhat. In particular, the shared library we link against used to define a main() function, but no longer does so---which is the probable source of the error (what does config.log say? It should include a log of the failed test with the exact compilation or linker error.) In short, we'll probably have to change the test sources to make it work with the new framework. As soon as I get 0.8.0 out, I'll make the changes and release 0.8.1 to add 1.34 support and fix your build. But please let me release 0.8.0 first. It's finalized now, and I rather not reopen it and restart a release cycle because Boost made a release. > [ Oh, and while I have you here: we have a really weird build bug with > QL-Swig on a few more obscure arches. But as I don't know anything about mips, I'd check the suggestion of the developer who reported the bug. Do you have the log of the main QuantLib compilation? Is it possible to check that it did include -fPIC at each g++ invocation? Luigi -- looks like configure needs some help. Are you still developing on Debian? Almost. I switched to Ubuntu a few months ago when I got a new laptop. Do you have our Boost 1.34 installed? Not yet. The Boost 1.34 release was exceptionally bad timing for us, since we were finalizing release 0.8.0 when it was made. Instead of installing 1.34 and restarting the tests (which I did suspect would fail---see <http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lib.boost.devel/159278>) I chose not to further delay 0.8.0. In fact, the release notes suggest to use 1.33.1 on Linux systems.
