Bug#376812: libglide2: Reproducible segmentation fault with Voodoo2

interestingly, there is no difference between the glide2x.tar.gz and
swlibs.tar.gz upstream tarballs, which indicates that this issue is
likely due to something added by debian.

Or maybe a bug triggered by new compilers... it can be due to many things.

submitter, note that the release notes indicate that the voodoo1 is
not supported. are you sure your card is indeed a voodoo2 model?

Yes, it is Guillemot Maxi Gamer 3D2 PCI, 12MB, 3dfx Voodoo2.

Currently, due to my deep differences with the Debian project [1], I'm
not interested anymore in this (nor other bugs) that I've open. So, if
you know the package does work for other people with other hardware
you can ignore this bug.

Even if this is not currently a problem for me, I thing I should help
to solve it, since it was opened before my severance from the Debian
project, and I have the hardware (which is not easy to get nowadays)
and an spare machine to debug. I'm afraid I'm busy in this moment,
sorry; but if this bug is still open in two or three months, I will
give a closer look to it, and test with different compilers, library
versions and patches.

Hi Guillem,

Have you managed to make any progress on this front lately? I'd love
to be able to help, but I don't think I have any Voodoo2 hardware any
more...

2006-09-28 Thread Alexander Schmehl
Hi Guillem!

* Guillem Jover [EMAIL PROTECTED] [060812 02:03]:

Thanks for the report, and sorry for the delay. I've been out of town
and don't have access right now to any 3dfx graphics board. I've a
new upstream release pending upload (missing few minor fixes though),
but I'd like to try it on real hardware first. I'll be w/o net access
for 3 days from now, but I could give you a prerelease atferwards so
you can test it before I can get to my 3dfx:s in a week or so.

It has been some time, any news regarding this bug?

Yours sincerely,
  Alexander

Sadly, when I was testing the new release, the 3D programs which I was
running started segfaulting, then I waited for the new mesa, which fixed
some of the segfaults, but there was still new ones. Also few days later
the tdfx xorg driver started crashing the X server (#388998). I've fixed
the later, it's waiting for an upload. I'll go back to testing with the
latest mesa during this week.

It's a shame, this is one of my longest standing RC bugs. :(

thanks,
guillem

Upgraded severity to grave because I think it the package should be
not be released with this bug. It is ususable and crashes the display
 when triyng to use it.
