 After a brief glance, I don't *think* any of the targets we ship use these

I've tested builds on armhf, armel, amd64 and powerpc, with these files
removed, and none of those builds failed... so it should be safe to remove
those files with a repackaged source tarball.

 these files. They do appear to contain data that might be contstrued 
as sourceless firmware...

Ah, that's good. If this is the case, then it should be relatively easy
to rebuild the package with these files removed.
