Bug#762672: qt-at-spi: when this package is installed, other programs fail to run
Control: severity -1 important Hello, lightdm-gtk-greeter has been fixed, both in Debian with a small hack, and upstream with proper at-spi termination. I believe the severity of this bug can thus be downgraded to important, since it will not show up in any normal conditions any more. Bug#762672: qt-at-spi: when this package is installed, other programs fail to run
pa...@ucw.cz, le Sun 19 Oct 2014 19:19:34 +0200, a écrit : In my scenario (MATE + KDE apps), QT programs actually start, but with about two minute delay. And the breakage was not due to lightdm (it happenned with both gdm3 and lightdm) I'm very surprised by this happening with gdm3 too, I'd probably need more details to be able to reproduce it. In your environment, does xprop -root | grep SPI show an AT_SPI_BUS variable? Are at-spi-bus-launcher and at-spi2-registryd running under your identity? I guess the at-spi2-core package is installed? (you didn't say it got removed). But it seems much more reasonable to me to just not make it hang for 1-2 minutes when no accessibility API can be contacted. :) I agree. I'm however wondering how much time it could take me to manage to understand the Qt code which is blocking like this. Could you also try to reduce service_start_timeout in /etc/at-spi2/accessibility.conf ? I guess the unit is ms, which indeed makes 12000 two minutes... (you didn't say it got removed). my apologies, I won't be able to try again with gdm3 in particular for some time now. However, the picture clearly is more complicated. Right now, I have lightdm session without lightdm's at-spi running anymore and since I do not have gnome-orca and its dependencies installed, clearly qt apps shouldn't be able to start - but they do. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure around the time I uninstalled gnome-orca, konsole starts got problematic even in gdm3 session I had before... I'm stumped. Maybe I'm just confused and fixing lightdm is good enough. Petr Baudis -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? That's the idea: managing to shutdown the processes left behind will probably be not trivial, so my patch just drops the reference to them, so they can just live on the side without even getting contacted, and the user session starts its own ones. On logout, all of them get killed along the way. Samuel -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
