FWIW, upstream is already at version 1.124.0 while Debian unstable is at 1.98.0. Full story: The test downloads the certificate from http://cert.int-x3.letsencrypt.org/ and runs file(1) on the result. And either something of "ASCII", "PEM", or plain "data". The file(1) program however now¹ outputs "Certificate, Version=3", and the check cannot handle that. While I could revert that change in file(1) I guess it's way better to adjust nagios-plugins-contrib instead. It passes when run with only packages from testing. In tabular form: passfail file from testing1:5.39-3 nagios-plugins-contrib from testing27.20200511+1 all others from testingfrom testing I copied some of the output at the bottom of this report. Currently this regression is blocking the migration of file to testing [1]. Due to the nature of this issue, I filed this bug report against both packages. Can you please investigate the situation and reassign the bug to the right package?
