My point is that if I choose to install a doc packages I intend to use it frequently and would therefore like that it is user friendly rather than that one has squeezed some few kilobytes out by gzipping files. If I don't need the package anymore I can uninstall it to save the space. When it comes to Changelog or other files that are included in all packages (not only doc packages) it is fine that they are gzipped. I'm only talking about the pure doc packages. i completely agree with you. i find very annoying to have to gunzip stuff from docs. disk space i cheap. I think the more important thing to realize is that the reason we have -doc packages is because the documentation for a given program takes up a fair amount of space. If a user installs a -doc package, they know they are getting extra stuff that takes up more space, so they should really get the docs in the most convenient form, not in the most compressed form. -- gram -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. You can attach a USB disk and run a full Debian system on this device. Just to be clear, the NSLU2 is a big endian ARM machine, right? Isn't Debian's current ARM port little endian? If you use a black background, try :set background=dark which I've found improves readability quite a bit. -- gram -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. I'll check with upstream about this. I assume it's alright, since the current version is a redistribution of previous versions from different authors. Bug#295331: O: fetchmail
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I haven't been able to take good care of the fetchmail package, and therefore I'm orphaning it. I'd like whoever adopts it to be able to spend a good amount of time with the package. Upstream has been slow lately, and the adopter would likely end up working with upstream. Whoever adopts the package should be very familiar with C and Bourne shell scripting. I'd also ideally like to find someone who uses the system-wide fetchmail setup, since I was never able to test that very well. -- gram -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Where is the included boot block code from? I'd also like to point out that the boot block source code is not included, certainly making this package non-DFSG-free, and probably making it undistributable by us under the GPL. -- gram

Does it correctly handle Unicode encoded ID3v2 tags? Checking... No, it apparently doesn't. The TODO file says the following, which I haven't followed up on: Make ID3v2 text encoding a preference as soon as id3lib releases an unbroken version (hopefully 2.4.0) So I question the value of introducing yet another broken tool to the archive. tagtool does work in some cases, even if not in all of them. The program is valuable to me (hence my ITP), and I'm sure it will be valuable to at least a few others. I don't think a package has to be valuable to everyone before it is allowed in the archive. It seems not to handle correctly even Vorbis comments, which are UTF8 by definition. Seemed to work fine for me. How are you testing this? Definitely not mature enough, unless I've made some serious mistakes. It seems to work fine for my music collection, and I'm sure it works fine for others as well, so I see no reason not to upload it to the archive. -- gram
