  Upstream Author : jrandom & I2P developers
* URL : http://syndie.i2p2.de/
* License : Public Domain
  Programming Lang: Java
Description : a system for operating distributed forums

Syndie is a system for operating distributed forums, offering a secure
and consistent interface to various anonymous and non-anonymous
content networks.

Syndie operates like blogs, newsgroups, and forums. Authors can post
messages privately or publicly. Messages are pushed and pulled to and
from archive servers, which are hosted in a variety of anonymous and
non-anonymous networks including I2P, Tor, and Freenet.

Syndie has a long history and is in a way well-known (it even has a
dedicated Wikipedia entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syndie).
However, the lack of good documentation and some missing dependency in
major distros, especially I2P, have been keeping people actually using
it. Now Debian/Ubuntu has i2p/i2pd packages, it's appropriate timing
to package it.

Syndie is a part of the I2P Project, and I am one of the current
upstream caretakers of Syndie.

Well, the current Debian version is 2.6.4 (in stable and unstable),
released in 13-Jul-2008. Seems Ubuntu Hardy somehow has 2.4.6, which
was released in Nov. 2006 and is definitely a really old version. I
guess you confused that with Debian.

Anyway, this is merely a nitpicking -- the latest release is 2.6.8 and
the Debian package is not up-to-date anyway.

I was on vacation and am back to Debian only recently, but now
realized I have only sporadic free time now, and in the foreseeable
future. I appreciate your help very much.

Seems I missed your previous mail; sorry about that.

I'm planning to form a maintenance team for abiword, move debian/ to
Alioth and use SVN or Git extensively. How do you think?

Request for help: jde & cedet

2006-10-22 Thread Masayuki Hatta
Hi,

I am looking for adopters or co-maintainers of packages "jde" and
"cedet". I believe they deserve better care than I can provide. If
you are interested, please drop me a note.

I fixed most of their critical bugs recently, so I can say they are in
a relatively good shape. You should know some Emacs Lisp and Java
idiosyncracy. The upstream is modestly active, AFAIK.

Best regards,
MH

I am not an MIA (though I should admit I am not so active as a DD
these days), and seems your mail has been lost in somewhere. Anyway I
will prepare new enchant package. Thanks for reporting.

Hmm, the STABLE blanch is the latest released version + (sometimes
crucial) patches backported from the development blanch, so I don't
think it causes much problem anymore.

Like txfonts(already in sid), this package contains a bunch of afm, pfb, tfm,
and vf etc. to set up and use Adobe Palatino fonts (or its substitute) in your
TeX documents. With pxfonts, you'll get better outputs since the normal
Computer Modern leaves a little to be desired. Especially suited for
mathematical papers.

This debianized package is set up to use free URWPalladioL(included in
gsfonts) instead of the original Adobe Palatino, which is a commercial product
distributed by Adobe.

Re: ITP: texguy

2000-03-21 Thread Masayuki Hatta
[Currently I'm not on this list. Please Cc: me]

Hi there,

I heard Ryuichi Arafune has ITP'd texguy, which has been
already ITP'd by me(I guess around in the early March).

After uploaded vflib3 my laptop got trouble and had been under repair
for several weeks, but it's back now, so new tex-guy packages should be
uploaded pretty soon.

If you want, you can still get my older packages(based on 1.1.4)
from one of those Debian JP mirrors.

Anyway, please wait a little bit ;-)

[Q] May I take over the mmm package?

1999-09-19 Thread Masayuki Hatta
Hi,

I found the mmm package for Debian is quite obsolete and not usable
anymore(it depends on several old packages like libc5).
I guess that's because you could not re-build it with the newer
version of Objective Caml.
I contacted one of the original authors(Jun P. Furuse) and he was kind
enough to release 0.80beta, which can be compiled with Objective Caml 2.02.
But he said they had lost interest in this project, so further improvement
should not be expected. Anyway, MMM is still one of the few
open-sourced(I don't understand why the INRIA license is non-free)
Web browsers which can handle Japanese characters correctly, so I hope
it remains a part of Debian.

Now I'd like to ask you a question; are you still interested in
maintaining the mmm(and ocamltk) package? If not, would you hand it over
to me? You seem not to get in touch with the upstream(if not, sorry).
Thanks to Joey and other guys, Debian-QA seems to revive, so
if you leave mmm alone, it might be the first one to be slaughterd ;-)

Unfortunately I'm not an official maintainer at present though
I've already sent my application to new-maintainers (but they does not
respond at all...). So if you are willing to continue your duty,
that's great.

For the present, I'll send a bug report to BTS.

BTW, I don't read debian-devel anymore(my mailbox has been flooded...).
I would appreciate if you send me a reply directly.

Regards,
MH
