[Testing] Why isn't a52dec updating

2002-12-08 Thread Mikael Hedin
I see that the testing scripts are running again. Now I wonder why
a52dec isn't going in. In update_output.txt I find

trying: a52dec
skipped: a52dec (1014+21)
got: 4+0: a-4
* alpha: ogle, ogle-gui

which I read as if the new a52dec entered testing, ogle would be
uninstallable. The old ogle (now in testing) depends on liba52-0.7.3,
from the source a52dec now in testing. The new ogle depends on
liba52-0.7.4, produced by the new a52dec source.

Was it a mistake to call the source a52dec? Would a52dec-0.7.4 etc be
better?

Would the new a52dec source in testing remove the liba52-0.7.3 binary
package produced from the old one?

But then, could not a52dec and ogle enter testing at the same time?

TIA,

Micce

man/tbl portability

2002-08-19 Thread Mikael Hedin
Hi,

I've enhanced oglerc(5) by adding a tbl section (.TS and .TE and the
things in between). On my system (sid) it is preproccessed by tbl(1)
when I run 'man ./oglerc.5', but on the upstream author's sytem
(solaris something), the tbl preprocessing does not happen. Did I
miss some magic to insert? Or does this just not work on other
Unices? (The man page is in the ogle packge = 0.8.5-2).

TIA,

Micce

Build problem on sparc [ogle, assembler error]

2002-01-15 Thread Mikael Hedin
Hi again!

[Thanks for the help, ia64 now builds fine]

This time it's sparc that don't build. See the build log for details,

And a snip:

Help with configure failure on ia64 [ogle: misdetect libxml2 version]

Hi,

ogle doesn't build on ia64, and I don't understand what's causing it.
See

configure script stops when testing xml2-config, but the correct version is on
the system.

http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.php?pkg=gsmlibver=1.7-1arch=sparcstamp=1006071760file=logas=raw,

says in the end that g++-3.0 is a cross compiler:

checking whether the C++ compiler (g++-3.0 -Wall -D_REENTRANT -O2 ) works... yes
checking whether the C++ compiler (g++-3.0 -Wall -D_REENTRANT -O2 ) is a

checking whether we are using GNU C++... yes
checking whether g++-3.0 accepts -g... yes

make: *** [configure-stamp] Error 1

and then the build bails out. What's up?

Your package better use gcc, not gcc-3.0. Using anything other than the

But it doesn't build with g++-2.95.

Other than that, check the config.log output to see why it failed.

Where do I find that one? Cant see it on the log page I referred to,

BTW, trainspotters gather at stations and take notes on times for

was just a subject very distinct from free software.

clearly some mistake, neither a native package nor a .orig.tar.gz.
When looking at where the source is from, sslug.imm.dtu.dk, the latest
version is iswedish 1.2 I think, at least less than 1.3.

Anyone knows where the 1.3 source comes from? The content is totally
different from the iswedish-1.x at sslug. Any advice on what to do?
It feels strange to package something with no upstream tarball...

useful tools for packages--any comprehensive list?

2001-01-04 Thread Mikael Hedin
Hi,

from time to time people mentions some nifty tools (mostly scripts?)
to search for info about packages and similar. Eg the citation
below. Is there some list/collection/etc of such utilities? Or for
other usefull things like `apt-cache search string', which can be
found in the manuals but is a bit tricky to find?

I couldn't find an easy way to find the biggest packages installed so
I hacked a script, but I suppose lots of these things are really done,
just I can't find it.

xemacs/vm/mailcrypt problems

2001-01-04 Thread Mikael Hedin
Hi,

Today I tried to verify a gpg-signed message from myself, but it
doesn't work! See below. It worked earlier, but I don't remember if
xemacs has been upgraded since.

This is an up-to-date unstable system.
