But _this_ is the point: the event was a month ago and I only learned
about it yesterday on linuxdevices.com:

I don't think he had a moral imperative to do it, but I can't see why
he or any others involved shouldn't have done it and I think that
debian-devel, which is read not only by developers, was the right
place.

There is a wide spread feeling (if you read LWN.net) that a lot that
happens in Debian today isn't made public.

FSG Packaging Summit in Berlin

2007-01-03 Thread Ottavio Caruso
http://www.freestandards.org/en/LSB_face-to-face_%28December_2006%29

Quote:"The goal of the Summit is to bring together the key people in
the Linux packaging world and ISVs to discuss the future of Linux
packaging. Topics will include RPM, the role of other packaging
technologies (dpkg, APT, yum, etc.), and the needs of ISVs in
packaging solutions".

Has this ever been discussed on Debian ML's?

Joey Hess was there. I can't recall any mention of it on the DWN.

Why do we [users] have to learn of these things from external
sources?

Regards

Elive requires donation to download

Elive , based on Debian,
requires a donation, however small, to allow downloading. I wonder if
this legally sound.

Because they'll want Debian to call it 'Gnu-Iceweasel' and they'll
reprehend Debian for maintaining technically superior and stabler
free software rather than just Free Software(TM).

Ottavio

PS: Can't we just rename it '93r8d9yad4l260ud.lite'? It's easier to remember!

Even only on a small details, I am please to see a few
people on a Debian mailing list not blindly accepting
whatever comes from the Ubuntu world.

Brand me a troll, but lately this looks like the trend
(see debian-project).

At nearly 1/2 gigabyte you can hardly call DFS a
recovery cd...
