Bug#667023: 2.15 brings x32 support

2012-05-27 Thread Helmut Grohne
block 667023 by 672934
thanks

x32 support has been merged into the 2.15 version of glibc. Since
carrying x32 patches ourselves seems like a useless waste of time, I
mark the x32 bug as being blocked by the new upstream version.

Helmut

Bug#555168: Unclear license situation for (e)glibc locales provided by you

2012-05-27 Thread Helge Kreutzmann
Hello Keld,
you are listed as contact person/author of the following locales:
da_DK de_BE de_CH de_LU el_GR en_AU en_CA en_DK en_GB en_IE en_NZ
es_AR es_BO es_CL es_CO es_DO es_EC es_ES es_GT es_HN es_MX es_PA
es_PE es_PY es_SV es_US es_UY es_VE eu_ES fi_FI fo_FO fr_BE fr_CA
fr_CH fr_LU he_IL it_CH iw_IL kl_GL nl_BE nl_NL pl_PL POSIX pt_BR
pt_PT ru_RU sv_FI sv_SE hu_HU ro_RO tr_TR

These locales come with a statement

% Distribution and use is free, also
% for commercial purposes.

Thus they do not allow modification; it is unclear, however, if this
statement was meant as a license.

As discussed in http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=555168 these
locales could strictly speaking not be part of Debian which would be a great
loss.
(Currently they are allowed pending investigation).

To properly resolve this, I would like to ask you the following question:

Would you be willing to relicense these locale(s) to a proper license, e.g.
(L)GPL v2 or higher or another free software license of your choice?

If you have any questions regarding this issue, do not hesitate to contact
me (via the reply-to address set).

Thanks for helping to resolve this!

Helge

Hello Pablo,

vi_VN wa_BE yo_NG br_FR bs_BA cy_GB fil_PH hy_AM ku_TR mi_NZ

These locales come with a statement

% Distribution and use is free, also

Thus they do not allow modification; it is unclear, however, if this
statement was meant as a license.

Further the following locales only have a part of the above statement:
fy_DE li_BE li_NL nds_DE nds_NL

Finally, the following ones have no statement at all:
dz_BT iso14651_t1_common mt_MT sq_AL

As discussed in http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=555168 these

P.S. I assumed that both adresses pooint to the same person, my
appologies if I erred there.

Re: Bug#672152: perl: FTBFS on kfreebsd-*: dist/threads-shared/t/waithires.t failing

2012-05-27 Thread Steven Chamberlain
Hi,

I just checked to see if Petr's eglibc getosreldate() fix made any
difference to the Perl waithires.t test; still seeing failures though.

While here I noticed a new test failure -- always reproducible on my ZFS
mount (+compression +dedup), but it works fine if I move the build
directory onto a UFS mount. Maybe to do with the ordering of readdir()
output?

 steven@kfreebsd-i386:~/perl-5.14.2$ ./perl t/op/threads-dirh.t TEST_VERBOSE=1
 1..6
ok 1 - crash when duping dirh
ok 2 - dir iterator is copied from one thread to another
ok 3 - cloned iterator iterates exactly once over everything not already seen
not ok 4 - cloned dir iterator that points to the end of the directory
 # Failed at t/op/threads-dirh.t line 92
 # got rile
 # expected undef
ok 5 # skip OS does not support long file names (and I mean *long*)
ok 6 - no warnings during all that

Actually this is fixed (#673711), I just didn't notice the other commit
in pkg-glibc SVN. Thanks Petr!
