Bug#525669: libqt4: default font antialiasing of QT 4.5 results in blurry fonts, leading to bead readability
Package: libqt4-core Version: 4.5.1-1 Severity: normal File: libqt4 After upgrading my SID system from qt 4.4.3-2 to 4.5.1-1, fonts in all QT applications were severely blurred. Even completely vertical lines got a coloured fringe. http://johan.kiviniemi.name/blag/ubuntu-fonts/ discusses the problem and suggests a font.conf snipped which fixes the font display isses. Probably the QT 4 package should include this snipped or something with similar functionality, at least as an easily acitvateable example which is mentioned in a README or something. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (950, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (200, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.29.debian.pat.20090418.1 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: lang=de...@euro, lc_ctype=de...@euro (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages libqt4-core depends on: ii libqt4-dbus 4.5.1-1Qt 4 D-Bus module ii libqt4-network4.5.1-1Qt 4 network module ii libqt4-script 4.5.1-1Qt 4 script module ii libqt4-test 4.5.1-1Qt 4 test module ii libqt4-xml4.5.1-1Qt 4 XML module ii libqtcore44.5.1-1Qt 4 core module libqt4-core recommends no packages. libqt4-core suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#525283: fixed
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following package(s) have been removed from unstable: kde4 | 5 | all kde4-development | 5 | all kde4-minimal | 5 | all meta-kde4 | 5 | source Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug. The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the master archive (ftp-master.debian.org) and will not propagate to any mirrors (ftp.debian.org included) until the next cron.daily run at the earliest. Packages are never removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency problems. Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package was superseded by another one. Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. Bug#388175: New version available
2009/4/19 Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer perezme...@gmail.com: tag 388175 +moreinfo thanks Kopete has a new version (4.2.2-1) in Debian's repos. Could you please check that this bug still holds? Maybe I can check. My laptop is swapping horribly when I run aptitude, which makes it hard to install new software, and because of hard drive problems I don't want to create a swap partition yet. But if I remember, then when I walk away from my PC I will install a newer kopete. I also saw that you filled lots of wishlist bugs in Debian. Would you mind filling them in KDE's bugzilla? If you happen to do so, you may want to close your wishlist bugs in Debian or at least forward them (ask me if you don't know how). No, I will probably not forward them until https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62765 (remove some steps from the KDE bug report wizard) are fixed. This is even though I have a good Firefox form helper extension installed (Lazarus): it is still a long slow process to forward one bug. You don't have to forward the bugs either. If https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62765 is ever finally fixed, maybe I will forward them myself. :) -- Jason Spiro: software/web developer, packager, trainer, IT consultant. Bug#388175: New version available
On Dom 26 Abr 2009 16:44:07 Jason A. Spiro escribió: 2009/4/19 Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer perezme...@gmail.com: tag 388175 +moreinfo thanks Kopete has a new version (4.2.2-1) in Debian's repos. I'll wait another wek then, else I will close this bug and you will be able to reopen it if necessary whenever you test if it is also present in this new version. Actually, that's not true. I should forward bugs that are not Debian's fault. But please take in mind that we are not responsible for this bugs, you should be filling them in KDE's bugzilla if you really want them solved. Also take into account that we all do a volunteer job here to make KDE available in Debian. Please, help us by reporting bugs were they do belong :-) Reagards, Lisandro. This is a digitally signed message part.

Re: Intel 945GM card and KWin Effects - anyone with good, fast performance ?
Well, I was testing earlier Kubuntu 9.04 on my machine - ( Kernel 2.6.28 + intel 2.6.3 ) and the performance was a lot better i must say. On Debian, even moving or resizing window with desktop effects enabled is slower than on Kubuntu. (but i don't want to use Kubuntu ;) I've heard that kernel 2.6.30 got some improvements for Intel cards and gives a lot better performance with Intel drivers 2.7.0 compare to kernel 2.6.29 with the same drivers. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Wrong keyboard after KDE4.2 startup, ok after a while
Hi all, I'm having a bizarre problem here. My system is lenny, with qt 4.4.3, X.Org 1.4.2 and recompiled KDE 4.2.2 from unstable. The kernel is a self-compiled 2.6.28. keyboard layouts are deactivated in kcontrol; activating them didn't change anything to the better. After I start KDE, the keyboard layout for ~the first 2 apps I start is US. Typically I have this in the program starter (lancelot or kickoff), and in the first iceweasel I start afterwards. For all apps I start then (e.g. if I kill lancelot and then press the K menu) it's perfectly ok. If I only start an xterm instead of kde, and then iceweasel, there seems to be no problem at all (i.e. I have German layout). This first appeared after I switched from etch (yes, there I also managed to recompile kde 4.2.0 after recompiling some other packages ;)) to lenny. Back then, I still had the etch 4.2.0 packages installed, and I thought the problem was due to the 4.2.0 compiled on etch, another compiler or whatever. Unfortunately, it wasn't. My X.Org log is appended below. I used the kbd driver for input before, but the switch to evdev didn't change the situation. I really have no idea what the reason for this can be... maybe there's some old config files hanging around, but I have no idea where that should be. This system has not been freshly installed since ... potato? [ANN] New metapackages layout
Hi, For your information, we have finally transitioned the KDE metapackages to KDE 4 as well. All the kde4-* metapackages that some of you used in experimental and for little time in unstable, are now gone. The final layout contains: kde-minimal: it is exaclty the same that used to be kde4-minimal. As its name says, it installs a minimal KDE desktop environment. kde-full: it is what we firstly named kde4. As its name says, it installs a full KDE desktop enviroment, all the official modules. kde-standard: it is a new package, currently it is the same than kde-minimal. The goal of this package is installing what a ramdom user would expect in a desktop enviroment. The meta-package will contain this, as soon as we agree in what it should ship. :) The recommends method of installations is use kde-minimal and then use the apps you need/want. kde-standard will be for totally newbies users, that want a bit of everything in the beginning when they do not know what apps there are. With time they will learn what packages they want/need and just install them. You all are invited to discuss and argue about how metapackages should be. Some even will file (wontfix) bugs. But keep in mind for everybody the ideal set of metapackages is different, and we have tried to keep it simple and useful. Can you check if the configuration files inside ~/.kde/share/config/ and ~/.kde/share/apps/ have set the correct permissions for writing and reading? Thank you for the suggestion, but I cant see any problems with the permissions. I wonder if the problem is associated with the bug in article: 200904251224.37008.hans.ullr...@loop.de several package related bugs in kde4.22 --- 2. Screensaver does not unlock. I suppose, this is a rights problem by the application, which starts or unlocks the screensaver (I had the same problem in kde3 to, where I had to set the sticky bit for root). In kde4 things are handled in an other way, so I am a little bit lost, where to look. Bob No, I don't think looking at their descriptions that these problems are the same in anyway. You have something that does not retain your settings, this other guy is having problems with unlocking the screen after the screensaver has started. The only thing in common, from my POV is that you are talking about screensaver, apart from that two completely different bugs. Have you tried to create a new user and then look if the behavior is the same? Bye Valerio

Desktop Pager woes (KDE 4.2)
Hi, Updated to KDE 4.2 about a week ago, which went mostly OK. Previously, however, when I had multiple Desktops configured, the panel would show only the applications running in the current desktop. So if I had 8 desktops, each with an Iceweasel and a Konsole running, the pager would show only the icon for the Iceweasel and Konsole running on the current desktop, rather than showing 8 of each. That feature seems to be gone. Or: I can't figure out how to turn it on in KDE 4.2. Anyone know how to do it? Thanks, -Steve signature.asc Description: Digital signature
