Bug#573268: Monitor swich crashes plasma.

2010-03-10 Thread Robert David
Package: kdebase-workspace-bin
Version: 4:4.3.4-3
Severity: normal

This problem occurs only when I have notebook with external monitor
turned on.
Disconnect the monitor manualy (unplug cable) and than use shortcut to
set the system (xrandr --output VGA0 --off --output LVDS0 --auto).

How it looks like after crash? I got 2 panels, the one that is full-size
stay ok. The other which is small and placed on left side (only for
quick launch)
loose all its settings (move up from center, set to always visible from
windows can
get over). Kradnrtray restarts and loose a lot of its content. To solve
this I logout/login and set the small panel back to its correct
settings.

Also important is that the resolution of both displays is different:
1024x600 vs 1280x1024. And it is not new bug, it does in all versions of
KDE 4 i used. Since 4.2.x

There is no problem when external monitor is pluged in. I can swich
LVDS/VGA without problems/crashes.

Reproduce: Plugin external monitor to notebook. Swich the output to it
(xrandr --output VGA0 --auto --output LVDS0 --off). Unplug the monitor
and swich back to LVDS.

Hello,

I looks like Python extensions are built for all supported Python
versions (which is right thing to do), but those for Python = 2.6 are
not installed into the binary package.

Bug#573292: kdebindings: Python (= 2.6) extensions are not installed

2010-03-10 Thread Andreas Marschke
Thats because Python =2.6 isnt officially supported by Debian. There was a
extremely long thread on the debian-devel mailinglist. The problem revolved
around that the python package is currently managed by one person alone who is
currently sort of not really working on it. The last thing I knew about it was
that we might have a group of people maintaining it. Might take a while.

Package: okular
Version: 0.7.1-1
Severity: normal

In Fit Width mode, it is possible for a document is just the right
size to fit on the page when there is a vertical scroll bar and not
fit on the page without a vertical scroll bar. (This is because there
is slightly more horizontal room without the scroll bar, which leads
to the entire document being slightly larger.) In this circumstance,
okular will continue to cycle between displaying and not displaying
the scroll bar.

It would be nice if kuickshow evaluates the exif information on the

status of kdict in sid?

2010-03-10 Thread Roman Cheplyaka
What is the status of kdict in debian sid and testing? I see it is absent on the
most architectures (as well as some others subpackages of kdenetwork), what is
the reason?

Bug#573322: krita: Can't open JPG with unicode characters in path

2010-03-10 Thread Dmitry Melnikov
Package: krita
Version: 1:2.1.1-1
Severity: normal

When i try to open any JPG file with unicode characters in it's name and/or
path, Krita says Cannot create storage.
After that, image trumbnail and info is shown in recent, still can't open.
When i copy file to $HOME (for example), it opens.
PNG/SVG with unicode characters in path opens OK, looks like only jpegs are
affected.

Hi,

you reported http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=499528 some time
ago, however, I wasn't able to reproduce the problem and therefore need some
additional information.
Can you please tell me what font you use in kate? Your problem looks like it's
related to the used font (a square normally tells that the font does not
contain the letter).
Also, if you have a newer version of kate at hand (especially from KDE SC
4.x), I'd appreciate if you verify the bug is still present.

Package: libarts1
Version: 1.2.1-2

When a user logs out, artsd keeps running for some reason even though
the user cannot possibly use the program for anything anymore.
This is wrong by itself. This happens if the user use
xtrl+alt+backspace to quickly get out of X.

Worse is that artsd for some reason keeps /dev/dri/card0 open,
so the next user who logs in doesn't get direct rendering.
This is very frustrating, and it took some time to figure
this out. (lsof run as root shows artsd holding the dri device open.)

Package documentation claims that artsd is a sound utility, so
it seems wrong for it to even open /dev/dri/card0 which is a
3D graphichs device. So the suggested simple fix is to not touch
/dev/dri/card0. Even better would be to detect that the users
processes all died, and go away so as to not tie up any resources. Not
even memory.

Package: krdc
Version: 4:3.5.9-3
Severity: important

Hi there!

I am using krdc very often to connect to an intranet computer, which also runs
kde and krdb.
To tunnel the connection, I use port-forwarding with

ssh -L5901:intranet-computer:5900 other.computer

krdc connects to :1, so I can work on that computer.

Unfortunately I have a wide-screen notebook at home and the remote computer has
a standard format.
So I use regularly the scale view function.

Sometimes the connection breaks or I kill the ssh tunnel by accident. Then my
screen is still scaled
and X11 keeps the same scale after quiting the krdc program. There is no way to
switch to unscaled
view because the Connection unexpectedly broken dialog pops up and after that
krdc finishs.

I have to restart X11 server to get rid of the scaling.

Well, since I installed the workaround to

Since I am now on Squeeze running KDE 4 I don't even find my

So - the bug seems gone for me (can't say it is fixed but it

Package: kde
Version: 5:48
Severity: serious

I have upgraded this week my testing system (last update from five day ago).
Since this date accent are not correctly typed on kde application (and qt).
They are typed by two white box but they are correctly displayed for instance
on localization box and by text file under konqueror vievwer. MLoreover under
emacs it work correctly.

To test switch to a french keyboard and type 2 normally it will display an e
cute. Accent are really important in french for instance a and agrave are two
different word, one is the verb to have, the other means to. Therefore it is a
serious bug, that render my desktop completly broken.

Package: libqt3-headers
Version: 3.3.4-3

Hello,
Here's a minor bug report(Warning clean) and an associated patch for
libqt3-headers 3.3.4-3.

I use libqt3-headers 3.3.4-3 as shown :
$dpkg -l | grep libqt
ii libqt2 2.3.1-22 Qt GUI Library (runtime version).
ii libqt3-dev 3.3.4-3Qt development files
ii libqt3-headers 3.3.4-3Qt3 header files
ii libqt3c102 3.3.4-3Qt GUI Library, Version 3
ii libqt3c102-mt 3.3.4-3Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime version), V
ii libqtcups2 2.0-4 Qt interface library for CUPS
ii libqthreads-12 1.6.7-1QuickThreads library for Guile
ii libqttestrunne 1.10.2-3 Unit Testing Library for C++

While compiling with a higher warning level, I came on the following warning :

usr/include/qt3/qmemarray.h: In member function `QMemArraytype
QMemArraytype::duplicate(const type*, unsigned int) [with type = char]':
/usr/include/qt3/qcstring.h:252: instantiated from here
/usr/include/qt3/qmemarray.h:85: warning: cast from `const char*' to `char*'
discards qualifiers from pointer target type

A simple patch to this is to remove the cast in qmemarray.h as this :

85c85
   { return (QMemArraytype)QGArray::duplicate(a,n*sizeof(type)); }
---
   { return
(QMemArraytype)QGArray::duplicate((char*)a,n*sizeof(type)); }

Hope this helps.
Thanks for all your good work, have a nice day.

Actually, aptitude is not stupid, but rather way more predictable now. The

Thats not true you can allways download the *-dbg packages so you can use the

I had already tried that (before asking to the list) but it did not work. After
recompiled deb package with --enable-debug=full added
to debian/rules, then installed them, i'm able I get the debug info.
