Bug#1021904: krdc: Bluescreen when switching to a full screen or rescaling, the only remedy to make it usable again is restarting krdc

2022-10-16 Thread manul
Package: krdc
Version: 4:22.08.1-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

When connecting to a remote desktop using rdp, initially it connects normally
(resolution was set to current screen resolution, initially of course it shows
inside decorated window with scrollbars etc.).
But as soon as one attempts to enlarge to "full screen" it loses entirely the
remote view leaving a permanent blue screen.
Even further disconnect does not solve the issue (I can't load "new connection"
list, other hosts tab, or anything else); the rendering inside the KRDC window
seems entirely broken frozen to a blue background.
The only remedy is entirely restarting the krdc app itself.

I tested freerdp2-x11 client alone it works normally on fullscreen etc no
issues there.

The above renders krdc unusable unless one sticks to the default "decorated"
view which is used immediately after connection.
Each rescaling/fullscreen leads to a frozen bluescreen background, and the only
way to get out of this and have krdc usable again is restarting it.

Tested on two debian sid systems, laptop and desktop.
Same behaviour on both (seems to got triggered by one of the latest versions,
maybe released a month or so ago).

Yours,

manul

Bug#1021884: korganizer segfaults when adding new event

2022-10-16 Thread ael
Package: korganizer
Version: 4:22.08.0-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Kalarm stopped working on this testing system a few days ago, so I
removed it and tried to use the inbuilt support for events and reminders
in korganizer.

It seem to be hit and miss whether new events are recorded, but now I
get a consistent segfault when adding a new event. That new event might
overlap the time slot for an existing event. But whatever, a seg fault
is always serious

I ran under gdb to try to get some diagnostics. gdb.txt session log
attached.

Small update:

KDE PIM 22.08.2 is packaged, but I'll have to wait with the upload until
the ongoing Qt 5.15.6 transition is completed as I don't want to delay
that even further. I hope it's going to be resolved soon.

I can confirm that the issue is fixed.

In the "Login Screen (SDDM)" System Settings screen, I do not have a preview
though, while (just) "Breeze" does.

(I also have a "Debian Maui" and _another_ (?) "Debian Breeze" theme in that
screen and both don't have a preview either)

Thanks for your various feedback and bug reports that help make the KDE
packages better.

Now that the login screen bug seems to be fixed for everyone, I'd like to
strongly recommend everyone who switched to the breeze SDDM theme due to the
bug to switch back to debian-breeze.

Debian-breeze is the default that our users will see and we need to get it as
much exposure as possible before it reaches testing.

Thank you again for your help in testing Plasma and your patience.

Happy hacking,

Dear Aurélien,

thank you for your efforts to address this issue! I'm only replying now
because I was offline yesterday.

It really looks like the bug report you found also covers my issue as
the settings for my external monitors are also not saved as described in
the report. I forgot to mention this in my mail yesterday. I know
everyone is very busy these days so I can really wait for the regular
update to 5.26.1. Until then, I'm in good hands with the latest 5.25
plasma. All that matters to me is that a cause for this issue has been
found.

Quick note on "why X and not Wayland": I need my system at work
(university) and so far X still seems to be a bit more stable than
Wayland. But things are moving and so I will definitely test Wayland
during the next longer lecture-free period.
Despite the stability, I also like some X-only features using synaptics
and evdev, like inertial/kinetic scrolling and so on. I haven't followed
the development of libinput for a while, so I don't know if these
features are already implemented there. But I also remember some blog
posts/emails pointing out that these features will never be part of it.
Let's see what's coming... I'll definitely pay more attention to the
development of libinput and Wayland again.

Thank you again and have a nice day!
Volker

Qt 5.15.6 is available in unstable for more than two weeks now, and I am not
aware of such issues in any other Qt 5 application.

So I lean towards thinking that this is an issue in PSI+, not in Qt.

However, feel free to prove me wrong by providing a minimal reproducible
example. Or if you can point to a particular change in Qt that broke PSI+,
I would be happy to revert it.

Thank you for the patch. I let the upstream maintainers know about it
in https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-84858#comment-684786.

However, if you can make an account on Qt Gerrit [1][2] and submit your
patch there, it would speed up the review process.

I think there are some style issues with your patch: instead of using a
name starting with underscore and __attribute__((visibility("hidden"))),
it would be better to add a new method to QQuickItemPrivate class.
In that method, "this" instance would become what was "d", and if you use
Q_Q(QQuickItemPrivate), "q" object would become what was "this".

Our general policy is to get patches merged (or at least approved)
upstream, before including them into Debian.

Changes:
 elisa-player (22.08.2-1) unstable; urgency=medium
 .
   * Team upload.
   * New upstream release.
   * Update the build dependencies according to the upstream build system:
 - bump KF packages to 5.90.0
 - drop the manually specified libkf5filemetadata3, already pulled in by
   libkf5filemetadata-dev
   * Bump Standards-Version to 4.6.1, no changes required.
   * Remove inactive Uploaders.
   * Modernize building:
 - add the dh-sequence-kf5 build dependency to use the kf5 addon
   automatically, removing pkg-kde-tools
 - drop all the manually specified addons and buildsystem for dh
   * Do not run the test suite during build time: there are two tests failing
(mediaplaylistproxymodelTest, elisaqmltests), and they fail on the upstream
CI as well; since upstream seems to ignore their failures, so we can do too
 (Closes: #1013576)
 - pass -DBUILD_TESTING=OFF to cmake to stop building them
 - make override_dh_auto_test an empty override
 - drop the test-only build dependencies: dbus, libkf5filemetadata-bin,
   libqt5multimedia5-plugins, libqt5sql5-sqlite, qml-module-qtmultimedia,
   qml-module-qtqml-models2, qml-module-qtquick-controls,
   qml-module-qtquick-controls2, qml-module-qtquick-layouts,
   qml-module-qttest, xauth, and xvfb
   * Update lintian overrides.
   * CI: ignore reprotest build path variations.
