Do inofficial repositories exist to get kontact none the less? Are their other options? Customized meta data: Is there a generalized equivalent for something like digikam?
Hello, It just came to my mind, that it would be a terrific help with keeping track of my research data, if there was something analogous with digikam but with a much less file type specialized scope. An aplication that reads in a defined part of your file system and allows you to create custom metadata (kept in a parallel db structure) to your files: - pdf x was suggested reading by y and bred idea z - image a was aquired from experiment b under conditions c. Data Organizing Program? [OT?]
Hello, I have a question which probably is off topic, but KDE is all about nice GUIng, so I hope somebody might have some nice pointers for me. I'm looking for program to organize my (research) data. What I'm imagining is something that would allow me to create a (file system like) tree structure with Projects on the top level, follwed one level deeper by subprojects (in my case: experiments or publications). In my dream app ;0) there would be required fields with any one of these elements (which should be freely configurable as to what content (data) type is required, permissible, prohibited for any given object), e.g.: - a required motivation field associated with each project - a required synopsis field associated with a publication (which would have to hold also a pointer to a pdf) ... All of this should be searchable and arrangeable by date, data type and be easily amendable with new data-objects and hierarchy levels ... enough request yet? Maybe this is all intelligible, but googling hasn't turned up anything so far and I was wondering whether anybody had had the idea or came across a freeware solution ... Kolab Plans?
Hello, 1) I LOVE kontact - REALLY COOL! ;0) 2) I'd like to set up a central infrastructure for addressbooks and calendars for a small group of people - enter: GROUPWARE. 3) I have managed to install OpenLDAP following http://wiki.tryphon.org/Configure_OpenLDAP, but can't find an LDAP Schema that would cover all fields in the addressbook component of kontact. 4) I struggled for a while to install egroupware, but am having major problems to get it to run ... 5) Wait - kontact was designed as a client for kolab, wasn't it? Kolab installation is a major pida! System independent installations of bzip2, file, gcc, gzip, make, openssl, PERL!, ... ? Gimme a break! Can't cooperate with base-required exim? Br! So the question now is: are there any plans to package kolab for debian proper - without this openpkg monster?
