Plasma 5.17.5 available in experimental
Hi, as it was mentioned already in other threads on this list, Plasma 5.17.5 is available in experimental. Make sure you get plasma-desktop >= 4:5.17.5-2 and plasma-workspace >= 4:5.17.5-2, as they solve a number of update issues from testing. Also make sure that you pull *all* the Plasma bits from experimental, as I did not update all the requirements yet (including the kde-plasma-desktop metapackage, which is what you ought to have to get Plasma BTW). The only known issue at the moment is with kde-config-systemd, already tracked as bug #949318, and that will be fixed only when uploading Plasma 5.17 to unstable. In case of any issues please do report them *here* (on this debian-kde mailing list) for now. No ETA on upload to unstable. Hello, everything was upgraded smoothly. Everything seems to work. Only problem is very small font in sddm login screen. Thank you very much for the packages and also for fixing the file conflict errors I ran across but saw reported already. I already installed it some days ago. I have had a few strange glitches. Sometimes second screen was not locked after resuming from suspend. KScreen did not seem to detect it anymore as the screen that it was before. I had similar issues before and it appears to be a mixture of complex issues that may also be related to the Intel i915 graphics driver. KScreen just seems to get confused in a different way now. And there was a blank window somewhere in Systemsettings. I did not find it anymore. If I run across this again I report it here. I really like the new night color feature. This way I do not need redshift anymore. Also there are nice improvements with lots of Systemsettings patches, Plasma Networkwork Manager integration (plasma- nm) and other parts. Best, -- Martin

As by default it appears to automatically determine the location you are in, there might be some geo location related dependencies. I wonder how that works and whether it would phone into the internet for that and how often it would do that. However I trust that KDE developers implemented it with privacy in mind. The KCM is directly in plasma-desktop package, and this depends on a lot of libraries and other packages that may depend on even more packages. % dpkg -S /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kcms/kcm_nightcolor.so plasma-desktop: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kcms/ kcm_nightcolor.so As for the indication in system tray, AFAIK that is coming with Plasma 5.18 LTS.
