Bug#663332: linux-image-3.2.0-1-686-pae: xorg fails to start after kernel upgrade
Package: linux-2.6 Version: 3.2.6-1 Severity: important After the update to kernel version 3.2.0 the system fails to detect the soundcard (snd_hda_intel) and framebuffer (i915) and X.org fails to start. Comparing with the previous kernel version 3.1.0 I found several missing modules. But even if I load these modules (which works without errors), X.org still doesn't want to start. Any ideas, where to look for the error? I already checked syslog and dmesg and could not find anything special, besides the missing | [drm] Initialized i915 1.6.0 20080730 for :00:02.0 on minor 0 which normally appears right after the bluetooth initialization. The X.org logfile is also not very helpful, it just says (EE) No devices detected after trying to load the i810 driver. The graphic hardware in question is the onboard device in a Samsung NC10 netbook. (lspci says, it is a Intel Coprporation Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)) Find below a diff between lsmod output on a good (3.1.0) kernel and the bad (3.2.0) kernel. I would be glad to help finding the problem. Bug#663347: initramfs-tools: avoid warnings like FATAL: Module some mod not found.
Package: initramfs-tools Version: 0.101 Severity: minor I think it's not a good idea to issue warnings like these: FATAL: Module xhci not found. FATAL: Module zfcp not found. FATAL: Module i2o_block not found. FATAL: Module dasd_diag_mod not found. FATAL: Module dasd_eckd_mod not found. FATAL: Module dasd_fba_mod not found. if this concerns modules the user does not need. Which is the newest working version you tested? Sorry I missed the word `working'. Unfortunately, I don't remember this. It was the latest version of linux-image-3.2.0-1-rt-686-pae package just before it was deleted from Sid. Regards, Boris

Bug#662895: Workaround found to recover the kbd after it dies
Hi, more information: After searching some more and finding I am not alone with respect to stuck keyboard, I also found that someone suggests (in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=676446 ) to invoke echo -n reconnect /sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio0/drvctl and so far it seems to recover the keyboard, even if the logs are not the same (symptoms are: stuck key and the rest of keys do nothing). Just a workaround, but at least this means no full reboot needed, just ssh from another machine or some kind of automatic triggering.
