Status of this bug
This has happened so far: From the Debian side maxy added haveged as a sddm recommendation and as a workaround. From the Qt side Thiago from upstream is trying to determine what changed in the kernel side, as this clearly started to happen with 4.16 and got worse with 4.17. Ben, linux maintainers: if you could give us a hand to determine what changed from the kernel side it would be much much appreciated. If we find that there are valid changes then we might have an opportunity to make Qt upstreams reconsider the issue. Cheers, Lisandro. This is a digitally signed message part.

Bug#593421: linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64: fails to show anything on the LCD display with an Intel video card
Subject: linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64: doesn't show anything on the LCD Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.32-20 Severity: important Since upgrading to this version of this package (2.6.32-20), the LCD in my computer fails to show anything before "setting up fonts" during bootup. If I downgrade to 2.6.32-18, the LCD comes back but I have no WiFi. The video card is an Intel one. If I plug an external monitor I can see both the booting messages and X. If I set options i915 modeset=0 in /etc/modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf, the kernel will fail to boot (the LCD is turned off, and I can see blinking leds in capcslocks and another led). severity 593421 grave found 593421 2.6.32-21 thanks I'm setting this to grave because it's not allowing me to use the PC unless I install version 2.6.32-18. I have to attach an external monitor to get a screen (this is a laptop). If I detach the external monitor, the LCD comes back to life. I just installed linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64_2.6.32-19_amd64.deband I can't find the bug, so it has been introduced in 2.6.32-20. I have already tried it on Friday without luck :-( The symptoms are the same: blank screen with backlight enabled. Once I plug an external monitor the LCD comes alive.
