Re: Vcs-CVS, again
Russ Allbery dixit: future could you please file a bug if you run into a false positive like this? I work on Lintian pretty much entirely from the BTS, so if it isn't a bug, it tends to fall off my radar. Oh ok. No, it was a regular mail, IIRC. Yeah, why would you go to Subversion when you could just go straight to Git? :) Heh, that's not even a VCS or DVCS, just a content tracker and patch management system. Good for Linus, but… ☻ Done for the next release, although I limited it to :ext: URLs that use a username of anoncvs or _anoncvs and therefore probably don't require authentication. Okay, thanks. //mirabilos -- “It is inappropriate to require that a time represented as seconds since the Epoch precisely represent the number of seconds between the referenced time and the Epoch.” -- IEEE Std 1003.1b-1993 (POSIX) Section B.2.2.2 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-lint-maint-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Thorsten Glaser t...@mirbsd.de writes: Lintian gives me an informative message about: Vcs-CVS: :ext:_anon...@anoncvs.mirbsd.org:/cvs contrib/hosted/tg/deb/mksh As far as I can see, it “chokes” on the :ext: (since :pserver: ought to have died long ago…) I think I reported that already, some time ago. Any news from this front? Hi Thorsten, I don't see any bug open about this. Did I just miss it? If not, in the future could you please file a bug if you run into a false positive like this? I work on Lintian pretty much entirely from the BTS, so if it isn't a bug, it tends to fall off my radar. I’m asking because a DD asked why I override the lintian warning I get with the above line and similar ones in other packages. He even suggested I move to SVN… *shudder* Yeah, why would you go to Subversion when you could just go straight to Git? :) You’d almost certainly just have to change %VCS_RECOMMENDED_URIS (the cvs entry) to change :pserver: to :(ext|pserver): I’d say. Bug#512210: lintian: [checks/po-debconf] Extend template check for updated strings
(keeping CC as I don't know who's subscribed to what) Quoting Colin Watson (cjwat...@debian.org): Template: tasksel/desktop Type: multiselect Choices: gnome, kde, xfce Default: gnome Description: The desktop environment to install when the desktop task is selected This can be preseeded to change the default. (That tasksel one looks like a true positive - I can't see why that is not translated.) Because it's never asked; it's preseeding-only. The installer intentionally doesn't offer this as a choice by default (and let us not reopen that most endless of discussions here), but it's available for preseeding for people customising the installer. Again, Lintian is not smart enough to second-guess this and shouldn't try. I basically agree with what Colin was saying up to there.but not to that last affirmation. The lintian check about translatability avoided a lot of non translatable debconf templates (at least this is a guess...but when it was introduced, I saw a bump in new strings for debconf templates, showing that many maintainers realized they were omitting something). So, I'd vote for this check to be kepteven though there are many cases where it will be legitimate to ignore that lintian warning. signature.asc Description: Digital signature
