How to remove a package from unstable
Hi, I accidently uploaded a package to unstable (python-cpl) that should have gone to experimental. How can I remove that from unstable but not from testing? After reading http://wiki.debian.org/ftpmaster_Removals, I am unsure whether the package would be removed from testing as well if I would just file a bug report against ftp-masters.debian.org? Because of the freeze, this would be fatal for the package. Best regards Ole -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-mentors-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Hi Ole, On 15.09.2012 16:04, Olе Streicher wrote: I accidently uploaded a package to unstable (python-cpl) that should have gone to experimental. How can I remove that from unstable but not from testing? ftpmaster removals do only affect Sid. They are not propagated to Testing (even less during a freeze). You can use the reportbug tool to report a ftpmaster removal bug - pick the ftp.debian.org pseudo-package. If you want to have a package removed from Testing, or even Stable, you need to get in touch with the Release Team instead. Moreover, it is not an ideal situation if a package is in Testing only, but not in Unstable. Hence you could just upload a newer version to Unstable, which is actually a downgrade (say, you have uploaded 1.0, but Sid should have 0.99, upload something with a release number such as 1.0.really.0.99). That does not need any removal request. -- with kind regards, Arno Töll IRC: daemonkeeper on Freenode/OFTC GnuPG Key-ID: 0x9D80F36D signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Just for the archives: I meant: They are not removed straight from Testing by a ftpmaster removal, but Britney may propagate the change in Testing in non-freeze times. -- with kind regards, Arno Töll IRC: daemonkeeper on Freenode/OFTC GnuPG Key-ID: 0x9D80F36D signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature
Bug#668505: Packaging available
Hello Beren, I am a bit confused that you started the packaging of gemrb all over again even though there has been many proposal for sponsorship of a gemrb package. I have tried to find a sponsor a couple of times through many different ways. Unfortunately, I have not been successful so far. Due of lack of time I have not been able to try again in the last couple of months. Therefore I would be great if you could take over and fine a sponsor for this package. I would recommend you though to take the packaging which is already available and go from there. Those packaging should be almost ready and need little adjustment for the new version. See http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~sao/+junk/gemrb/files for the Ubuntu packaging I keep update to date on a regular bases also in my ppa https://launchpad.net/~sao/+archive/ppa. Or also have a look at the last debian packaging I have sent in for proposal http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~sao/+junk/gemrb-debian/files. I hope this helps. Would be really great if you find a way to get this into Debian. Let me know if I can help in any way.
