possible-gpl-code-linked-with-openssl
Is my understanding correct, in that the upstream author needs to add the OpenSSL exception to the upstream license before I can package? I tried twice to contact upstream to add that exception, but didn't get any response: https://github.com/samr7/vanitygen/issues/36 Does that mean, the package can't make it into debian? Definitely not. Upstream did not link against it - you do that. The upstream README on GitHub states that At present, vanitygen can be built on Linux, and requires the openssl and pcre libraries. The INSTALL file lists OpenSSL 1.0.0d as a prerequisite. Some of the includes in the source files explicitly and unconditionally reference headers under the openssl/ hierarchy. Bug#719920: RFS: gramps/3.4.1-0.3 [NMU]
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Thanks Andreas:-) 1. Unless I missed something, mentors.debian.net forces subsequent uploads to have the version incremented. So that would mean doing it right first time! 2. Good idea. I will start the process right away. Regards, Ross On 10/16/2013 02:54 PM, Andreas Tille wrote: Hi, I did sponsor this package but have two remarks: 1. I see no real point to choose *-0.3 as version number (instead of say *-0.1) 2. I'd be in favoud of maintaining the package in collab-maint. Kind regards and thanks for your work on this Andreas. On Sun, Oct 13, 2013 at 05:18:44PM +0200, Ross Gammon wrote: Dear mentors, I have not been actively looking for a sponsor for my package gramps the last few weeks because I have found a few other Debian things to keep me busy :-) But this weekend I have gone back to the package I had on Mentors.net and updated it a little. It now includes a patch to force a UTF-8 locale for people that try to run Gramps without a UTF-8 default locale and get a very nasty crash. I also upgraded the copyright file to a machine readable version. Before I start looking for a sponsor again, I wonder if anyone on the mentors list would like to give me a quick review of the package? * Package name: gramps Version : 3.4.1-0.3 Upstream Author : Gramps Project * URL : http://gramps-project.org/ * License : GPL-2+ Section : gnome It builds those binary packages: gramps - Genealogical research program To access further information about this package, please visit the following URL: http://mentors.debian.net/package/gramps Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command: dget -x http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/gramps/gramps_3.4.1-0.3.dsc Regards, Ross Gammon -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-mentors-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
