 in this case - no
 as other distros dont generally ship lz4
 and as i said - we are going to wrap etc.
 and move it elsewhere
 also - debian policies are not ours

Oh well.

Why is that bug locked/private?

The patch already does that I think, hard to tell from the language they
use though.

The whole point is to have them remove the embedded copy so that doesn't
sound like a useful thing to spend time on.

The best thing you can do for now is just apply the patch in Debian
until upstream are willing to remove the embedded code copy.

The two main comments were "Could you work on the patch to use the lib if
the lib is found. This would require debian to provide a lz4.pc (and give
it to upstream)."
Followed by "invalid" and closed.
I think they would accept a patch that would work for them to be able to
keep their embedded copy. So that we don't have to patch, just delete
src/bin/lz4, which would be cleaner?

If you could get upstream to delete src/bin/lz4 from their VCS and

When the mosquitto broker runs as root, it will always attempt to drop
privileges to the mosquitto user by default, or another user if so
configured. If it is not running as root, this does not happen. I
don't believe that building packages as root is a good idea, I would
suggest simply trying again with a non-privileged user.

I have uploaded the fixed version to mentors. This is again a bumped
upstream version due to a few other bugs being reported. I don't want
to miss out on a willing debian developer and have a version uploaded
with known bugs :)

Roger

Pretty much. The only real reason to include that is the "thanks NMUer"
part; it's a good way to show that you appreciate the work of the NMUer.

dpkg-source: warning: --extend-diff-ignore:=(^|/)po/roxterm.pot$ is not a

This seems to work (there are a lot more files that dpkg-source
complains about):

extend-diff-ignore =
"^(po/((.*).mo|roxterm.pot)|(.*).xml|Help/(.*)|roxterm.spec)$"

That still doesn't work for me, I get the same warning as before. If it
works for you I'll upload a new version with that and some other changes
designed to fix this, but there are still several underlying problems
with the build, creating things like .mo files in the top source
directory instead of in the build directory, and building in
debian/build-gtk* causes the .pot files to show different paths for the
source files than if it's run in the default upstream build directory. I
think I really need to switch to a different build system to fix this,
so that would probably take a few days :-(.

 Yup, the use-lz4.patch was great, i merged your rules/control with mine
(that i'd created from your previous mail) and everything appears to be
fine. I've pushed the patch (and the others) upstream, hopefully something
will be done.

Thanks very much for your help pabs.

This is the most advanced PDF to HTML converter that I have seen so far.
I was looking for a way to publish the scientific papers I wrote over
the years and I wanted to offer a way such that one could view them
without having to use a PDF viewer. Unfortunately it seems that the
existing options for converting PDF to HTML are missing many features
which make them unusable for complex PDF as those produced by latex for
scientific conferences and journals (multi column, complicated figures).

While not 100% pixel perfect, pdf2htmlEX produces HTML pages that are
absolutely readable for all the content I tried. Using the fallback mode
it is even possible to view them with javascript disabled.

If you remove ChangeLog from debian/docs, that should get it fixed.
dh_installchangelogs will pick up the upstream one.

For the future, if you set DH_VERBOSE=1 when building the package,
debhelper will tell you what it is doing, and you'll see which command

Fw: Bug#756654: ITP: rohc -- RObust Header Compression (ROHC) library

2014-08-05 Thread Simon Paillard
Hi all,

rohc is my first library package, I'd welcome a review.
My ITP is attached.

Furthermore, there is a lintian warning I can't get fixed:
W: librohc-dev: duplicate-changelog-files
usr/share/doc/librohc-dev/ChangeLog.gz usr/share/doc/librohc-dev/changelog.gz

Full lintian output at
https://people.debian.org/~spaillard/rohc/1.7.0/rohc_1.7.0-1_amd64.changes.lintian

I also wonder how far in precision I shall describe debian/copyright (debmake
--copyright is a little buggy with the rohc sources as it considers doxygen
comments as part of license).

Thanks in advance !

* Package name: rohc

* URL : http://rohc-lib.org/

  Programming Lang: C
  Description : RObust Header Compression (ROHC) library

RObust Header Compression (ROHC) is a standardized method defined by the IETF
in RFC3095 to compress the IP, UDP, RTP, and TCP headers of Internet packets.
This compression scheme differs from other compression schemes by the fact that
it performs well over links where the packet loss rate is high, such as
wireless links

The library is also provided with application like rohctunnel, which makes a
ROHC-over-UDP or ROHC-over-Ethernet tunnel.

The library is also used by packages not (yet?) in Debian:
* http://opensand.org/ A satellite telecommunication system emulation platform
* Patched versions of openvpn

A first version of packaging is available at
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/users/spaillard/rohc.git/

I don't need a sponsor, but I'd welcome reviewers as it's my first library
package.

The package currently in the archive says:

 1fa678236c5c3538863f7d4fc6a2e9e5 560284 viewnior_1.4.orig.tar.gz

(md5sum so it fits the line)

Then viewnior_1.4-2.dsc refers to a .orig.tar.gz of a different size
that does not match the one currently included in the archive.

I am trying to upload 1.4-2, some time ago I uploaded 1.4-1. I checked
the .dcs for 1.4-1 and the orig has the same size and checksum as in
-2 dsc.

In -2 I deleted some files (config.sub and so on) from the source in
git (I am using gdb). But -2 point release does not upload orig again
so this should not be an issue (and the new dsc has the same size and
checksum)

I can only provide an error from ftp:

===

viewnior_1.4-2.dsc: Invalid size hash for viewnior_1.4.orig.tar.gz:
According to the control file the size hash should be 566470,
but viewnior_1.4.orig.tar.gz has 560284.

If you did not include viewnior_1.4.orig.tar.gz in you upload, a different
version
might already be known to the archive software.

As with jquery, you really just have 2 options:

- Don't ship embedded copies of bootstrap in your package (and strip
it out of the source tarball as well), potentially breaking stuff in
your package.
- Ship an embedded copy of bootstrap + corresponding unminified
version in your package.

A better long-term solution (credit goes to paultag for suggesting it
first) would be for someone to create a monster js-common package
containing every single released version of popular JS libs such as
jquery and bootstrap, so that we don't have hundreds of copies of
jquery, bootstrap, et al. littering the archive...

Regards,
Vincent

This is all understandable, but with option #1 the changelog entry
"Ack NMU, thanks NMUer" seems to be nothing more than a simple
acknowledgment that the maintainer confirms the changes made by the
NMU. Not doing it has the same effect if the new release is based on
the NMU anyway. I mean, if the maintainer is basing the new release
on the NMU, there is an implicit assumption that the NMU has been
ACK'ed and this changelog entry is more or less redundant.

Where to pick latest bootstrap.js java script library from

2014-08-05 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi,

I want to replace a minified bootstrap.min.js (from python-mne package)
saying:

/*!
 * Bootstrap v3.0.3 (http://getbootstrap.com)
 * Copyright 2013 Twitter, Inc.
 * Licensed under http://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0
 */

I thought that

libjs-twitter-bootstrap: /usr/share/twitter-bootstrap/files/js/bootstrap.js

would be the right file to link to after removing the minified JS but
I noticed that the header of this file is:

/* ===
 * bootstrap-transition.js v2.0.2
 * http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/javascript.html#transitions
 * ===

which looks a bit aged to me. Seeking for other replacements via

   apt-file search bootstrap.js

I can find a lot and picking a pure random one I get:

debci: /usr/share/debci/public/bootstrap/js/bootstrap.js

/**
* bootstrap.js v3.0.0 by @fat and @mdo
* Copyright 2013 Twitter Inc.
* http://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0
*/

which sounds more recent and potentially better fitting than
libjs-twitter-bootstrap. However, simply depending from a random
package which in the future might or might not ship the said JS
library does not sound reasonable to me.

Any hint how to solve this?

Kind regards

Andreas.
